About StarCraftMecca

StarCraftMecca is a merchandising company that sells progaming merchandise from progaming teams in Korea. Currently we only provide SC:BW team merchandise but we are hoping to get enough interest so that we can stock both SC:BW and SC II team merchandise. StarCraftMecca is founded by a former SC:BW gamer (iCCup rank of C-) and a current SC II gamer (only 1700+ points in Diamond unfortunately, switched to Protoss from Zerg and just started losing everything TT) so it's pretty much a company run by gamers for gamers. This means that we know how you feel about StarCraft in general and will do our best to accomodate everyone!

Actually it's guaranteed 4 games.

Step 1 Ro48: You have to play against both opponents once each and whoever makes it out of the group makes it out.

Step 2 Ro48: You play a Bo3 with the player that didn't make it out of the group.

4 games FTW!

As far as a commentator to live commentate we don't have one set up at the moment but I'm not sure if we're going to have one at all (due to the how the venue is set up). I'll give The Node a call and have a response by tomorrow or the day after.

Can we bring our own keyboard and mouse?

Yes, as long as it is a plug-and-play USB. No additional drivers will be installed and if you do not have a keyboard and mouse, by signing up for the tournament you are agreeing to use the ones provided by Node Gaming.

It's in the FAQ by the way lol

I kinda was hoping that people would be signing up from the SCM site so that I'd have a list of people that I could message in the future for upcoming tournaments ... if anyone that sent me a PM through here could just make an account there and send me the PM through there that'd be great.

Can you explain what the March Mayhemm thing is? I.E , it would be interesting to see whether it would be worth it for Fnatic to send someone if they would be qualifying for a much bigger event, etc o-o;

Can we come spectate?
Yes, anyone can come to watch and cheer but if the venue starts to get packed participants will have priority.

What graphics settings do we have to play on?
You will have the option to change the in-game settings around before your matches.

Is there a registration deadline?
Once the registration list is full we will be taking a waiting list as a backup for those that don't show.

What is the March Mayhem?
It is a much bigger tournament with more players and a much bigger prize pool / sponsors. Also, StarCraftMecca will be involved in a few worldwide events and the participants of these events will be lightly based on the tournaments we have held in the past.

P.S. I'm updating these on the main thread at SCM so that people can have an easy place to find the answers in the future.

What are the skill levels of my fellow Calgarians? I'm about 2300 diamond.

I'll come anyways if I can get off work before registration is full, but I'm curious to know how what sort of competition I would be up against, or if I even have a remote chance at getting a high spot.

What do you guys think of using Match Point (http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=180223) as a map for the tournament? I want to start using iCCup maps in the tournaments that I'll be hosting because I personally believe they are much better than quite a few ladder maps.

I actually just added the poll on the SCM thread over at http://starcraftmecca.net/forum/index.php?topic=16.0 to see what we should do in the future so if you're participating please make a vote

Oh wow, this is on the 8th? I thought it would be on the 31st or the 1st with "New Years" in the title. I thought I wouldn't be able to make it, but I guess I can.

You wouldn't be able to use your laptop because they don't allow outside computers to be connected to their network. Oh and I've added the SC2ranks link on the main post as well.

Hmm... If my 3G is fast enough in the area, it's possible you can play with my phone's 3G, as I have a program which allows it. I actually played a ladder match while going through the rockies in a good patch of coverage, no lag! ^^

That would be great if it worked. I'm amazed 3G can do that, I didn't even think 4G was fast enough.

Alright, so you will be there with your phone and cord guaranteed? I'll sign up if theres a good chance I can play on my own hardware.

Unless my phone breaks down randomly, yes.

24/48 registrations so far, we might have to make some adjustments to the prize pool depending on how this goes ... but we still have a week so we can hope for the best. Get the word out guys!

Ahhh good question, it'll be one map veto per person for each round except for the finals where each map will be used.

It would suck if all the best players got to play eachother in the first couple rounds, why don't you consider making sure that the top players are in different brackets

Because arbitrary seeding is worse than random brackets.

TSL is Saturday, probably around noon. I guess I could drop by after, but the chances of that are probably zero. Sorry, I'll try to come to the next events if I can.

Yeah because if the groups are made up some players will complain that the groups are biased or unfair that they got grouped with certain opponents. At least with this method it's completely random and no one can complain about unfairness.

In the March tournament the Top 4 seeds will be split up and then something will be figured out for the rest of the players.

Also, is Hurr.### and Durr.214 a joke? Cause I won't put Durr on the list until I know it's legit.

um so is that order likely to get here by the day after tomorrow? :/

I think itd be a sadder story if we both got knocked out before we could play eachother though! loll

and lol @ map arguments. everyone seems to like different maps and are shocked when people disagree with them. reminds me of python vs outsider... (personally i love python and hate outsider)

Well jungle basin is used in ladder. I believe its the only ladder map that is isn't used. Even GSL uses jungle basin so it kinda baffles me.

I think I just picked maps that were being used in the GSL and I never saw any games on Jungle Basin.

As far as the merchandise it won't arrive by tomorrow unfortunately, it would have if I didn't place such a big order but I underestimated how many people would still want OZ gear even after the sale that lilsusie had.

Last but not least there's only 3 spots left so I doubt anyone will get a veto and we'll be sticking to the originally planned schedule! ^^

HA, they should've partied along with us, the roads were gross but made it home before 4am (almost a 5hr drive) and a total of just shy of 8hrs of driving to make this one.

Props to Kore for running a legit tourney and making the best of a less then perfect situation.
