To suggest that this series was fixed is just absurd. Both players put forward excellent games, and most games were close enough to come down to one crucial decision that could have gone either way. Just because Nada is known as a macro player and didn't do the exact same econ build every match against a player known for wild strategies doesn't mean it was fixed. No because the chance of them meeting the finals is pretty low. I mean was pretty low, who knew they were still this good? I'm fairly certain they rigged it so that they would meet now.
Oh people are talking about actual match fixing? You guys are retarded.

the GSL prize pool is far greater than what a match fixer would offer. how much did Savior and company get for their fixed matches? I'm pretty sure it pales in comparison to the GSL prize pool. You have to look at the bigger picture. IF they can make SC2 as popular as BW was, they stand to gain much more than a 1st place at a GSL. Do they really? Because I'm pretty sure winning makes them more money regardless. If boxer created the BW boom, it would be logical based on the following and marketing power he has, to try and recreate that feeling of nostalgia within people. Nada also has a following, but boxer's fame and contribution is still viewed as being much more significant in the growth of BW. GSL first place is a lot of money for one tournament, but does it compare to the consistent contracts + sponsoring that some of the top BW pros were getting? If him and Nada keep winning it will happen organically without fixing. That is possible, but at the same time hasn't it sorta been blizzard/gretech's agenda to grow SC2 as quickly as possible through massive hype and large tourneys? And also to try and shrink BW pro scene as quickly as possible? I don't believe the match was fixed... I do believe it was convenient that they had relatively easy roads to ro8 though, and from a professional perspective I would want my tourneys not to show any sort of special treatment to anyone. Why risk compromising the integrity of esports? It's too hard to build a legit reputation when so many people follow traditional sports compared to how easily you'd destroy the scene by rigging brackets and matches.
Risk vs reward... It is highly unlikely gsl would do anything illegal to generate popularity for their game, but it seems fairly likely they augmented the brackets to help certain players get a bit further.
Whether those players needed any help is subjective though.
I think GSL should be more transparent with how they set up their brackets though.
Right now SC2 and BW are competing with each other, if SC2 can get to BW status it will pay big dividends for the people with control over the scene.

I think people are just trying to make sense of nada's play, I know a lot of people expected a more stable macro oriented play from him. He was playing risky and he didn't need to be, since he has a strong advantage over boxer in the mechanics department.
Watch the interviews of both slayersboxer and nada after their win of ro16. They mention they're gonna play with less pressure, (meaning playing for the fun how boxer normally play with flare, nuke, creative playstyles). turnout nada keep his word and boxer fear more of losing and play less risky style. No match fixing here.

WTF a match fixing? are you guys fucking serious... just enjoy the games ffs!!! if it's no balance cry it has to be match fixing? omg good old BW times when the actual games were debated

Nothing more to say, this explains the whole match. Awesome games from both players; very exciting to watch.

wow how can you guys look at the pic of him crying and still say the match was fixed... heartless.

The peole here claming Boxer/Nada would fix a match would even accuse their own mothers with such ridiculous blames. Shame on you.

Ok, I'm back. It was just my dog.
Hey guys, check this out. I think I've uncovered something big. Half of the people on this message board aren't real and are just bots or the mods' smurf IDs. Hear me out.
You ever notice how the same type of thread gets started over and over again? It's like clockwork. Just go use the search function. 90% of the titles are pretty much duplicates. The "people" ask the same questions and other "people" give just about the same responses over and over again. How hard would it be for a natural language processor to handle some of that? Just switch out some key verbage using synonyms and parsing of "real" comments and there ya go. A lot of the comments aren't even that hard to produce. When something amazing at a tourney happens, you get spammed with: OMGGSSG!!! or EPIC or ROLFSTOMP. You don't even need the bots to form complete sentences most of the time and in fact, you wouldn't want them to in the case of masquerading as non-native English speaking "users".
Why would teamliquid do this? Think about it. They get to claim that they are tops in the Starcraft pro-gaming foreigner scene. They fool sponsors and Koreans into thinking that they have this huge following. They infiltrate pro-gaming in Korea w/ their "Team" and install Tastosis as casters. But I see the cracks in their facade. Some of it was too obvious like that whole poll w/ Boxer and Nada being 50-50 up into the thousands of votes. Then there were those planted questions about "how to handle cannon rushes in your backside" and questioner IDs like BigDongStudios....
Yeah, this is definitely 3 guys in their basement working some elaborate hoax to pull the wool over all our eyes. In fact, I might not be talking to anyone right now at all. This whole match fixing thing is an attempt to troll me and drive me insane. Well played, Team Liquid. Well played. Or should I say... well played, Jamie, Bob and..... Karl...?

You know back in the day people would have thought it was absurd to question the tobacco industry as well.
I don't condone wild speculation without logical reasoning, but sometimes far-fetched scenarios occur specifically because the people trying to pull it off think it is so far-fetched that no one will ever even suspect such a thing.

Yes, Karl. That's precisely why I'm finally onto your little game. You tried to distract me with this whole GSL fiasco but now I'm wise to your schemes. You're in cahoots w/ NASA aren't you? There is no pro-gaming scene. It's all staged on some Hollywood set w/ a bunch of Korean extras. That's a clever little mind trick you tried to pull there about far-fetched scenarios but I'm just one step ahead of you on how far-fetched I'm willing to go.
Check. And mate.

I highly doubt there is any match fixing going on, but I don't think it's wrong to say that Nada and Boxer had the easiest overall bracket (the only real people who were of any concern would have been Loner and maybe Bless)
|
The very idea of this match being fixed is ludicrous, especially considering that the last scandal hasn't completely faded from the public's mind yet, or at the very least, easily recalled.
Think how god damn quickly this game would just simply roll over and die if Boxer and Nada were involved in anything that even remotely seemed akin to match fixing. Even if they had no knowledge or direct hand in it.
This game would go down in flames so hard, you would see the SC2 install files on everyone's computer literally convert itself into BW.

3 posts troll mentions matches fixing, 4 pages ensues. heh.
Great matches by both players.

"TROLOLOL matches fixed."
Don't feed 'em.

Who thinks TLO costed Nada game 4? TLO probably told Nada to use nukes to break Boxer's siege tanks but Nada failed miserably. If TLO never told Nada that, he may have went standard play and won game 4....
