Bah, what's all the rage about? Obviously the players were really close in skill - they couldn't be separated even after a tiebreaker round. Using a coinflip is totally fair, everyone has had their chance to win on their own accord. Going through more rounds of tiebreakers would potentially be less fair, since it could negatively influence the players from this group in the rounds to come.

And that's not even mentioning that the rules were perfectly clear beforehand.

^That doesnt change the fact that the rules is stupid ? =/ And how would having more tie breaker be worse for the players ? I'm pretty certain that Bischu would prefer another fighting chance over a coin flip..

COIN-FLIP is this a Joke thats so dumb even dumber then flying players in all over the world and then let them get 6pooled in fucking BO1.

Joke Tournament really.

Incontrol will get a fest from this in next SotG and i am so looking forward to that.
I give up, I just don't know what to write here.

Dreamhack showing once again how awesome their rules are. Hopefully they fix their stupidness next time and have bo3 group stages. The chances of tiebreakers then are so min where as now they are so high.

Isn't this wrong? The only way a bo3 setup would be better if they actually play out all three games regardless of the results in the first two, right? (because if they would end 2-0 it would be the exact same outcome as we had today.) I have to admit that it was a while ago I took statistics, but wouldn't this mean the probability would be the same too?

(actually I have a feeling I might be wrong)

Unless you mean that a bo3 setup changes the way the players play, and that this would give a benefit to either side. This might be true.

You're right, of course. However, it should prove who's the better player easier.

Bo3 or even Bo2 allows for many more tiebreaking methods. This would not have happened.

There's actually a fifa rule that's very similar with their group stages, but at least the tie break is based on goals scored and conceded.

Every tournament has it's own stupid rules. I think the Pro-Players must work on a fair concept on Single and Double Elimination Systems, and then refuse to play in tournaments if they don't follow their system.

they also do a coinflip when everything else is tied, but it happens so rarely.

In the Worldcup 1986 Italy won via coinflip vs Russia in the semifinals - after that the penalty shootout was introduced. Maybe there should be something similar considered for tournaments - I mean even with a bo3 groupstage format you might end up with repeated ties over and over again. using MSL format avoids it though.

Don't know why people always cry about the BO1 rule. Everyone plays everyone in a group.
You are not are out of the tournament after one game, so it is not really BO1.
Coin flip sucks pretty bad of cause. There have to be better ways to determine, who advances out of a group.
