You can see the weakness of this type of tourney compared to a Korean style tourney where SeleCT ends up having to play over 20 games in 1 day to win compared to being able to have a BO7 with fully rested players in GSL.

Was still fun though and that was a gluttony of SC2 but by the time it got the finals the hype was lacking.

didn't he face Slush? Slush is a good zerg, not at idras level but definitely competent and knows what he's doing.

Clearly he was getting tired after playing so many games and a basic error of letting the drone into your base because of the incomplete wall and then gas stealing to really slow down the main prong of harass. Zerg macroing with no harass is autoloose.

Personally, I love the double elimination format, favors the players with the most skill. I hope they keep it.

Also, congrats to Idra and Select, great performances and play by both. Hoping to see select in GSL 3

He has some Valid Points.

1.Not that many good , recognizable zergs.Europe has far better quality zergs.
2.Too Tired.
3.Patch 1.2 ? Reaper nerf.Depot before barracks?Absolutely no way to harass a macro monster like IdrA early in the match.

Anyways 5:30 am here.Going to sleep.

3: Idra was behind on drones during his most ZvT's I saw. actually he won with very smart and agressive moves.

Idra kind of seemed uninterested. No one in the USA is even close to his level. It was so easy it seemed he must have thought it would be impolite to trash talk at all throughout the entire tournament, since it's like an NFL player trash talking NCAA players.

Seeing how quickly he beat both Huk and SelecT was pretty insane. Just a level above everyone. I mean, he dropped maybe one game here, or there, and but those required some very specific circumstances.

SelecT is in Dignitas.

It's good to see The Manner improving. I'm guessing that reducing his playing time and thinking about the game more than focusing on improving mechanics is doing wonders for him. I honestly expect a much better performance at GSL2 from Idra, because he has obviously upped his game a few levels.

The lesson to learn from game 2: Be really careful about sieging tanks when you go marine-tank against zerg.

Probably my favorite major SC2 tournament thus far, so many great matches and each race had good representation at the top (need more good NA zergs).

I like all the games being condensed into two days to keep the hype up, although it's rough on the players stamina I'm sure.

I have to agree but I would still like to see a straight up BO5 or BO7 final. I mimagine most spectators would as well.

Slush is one of the best NA zergs, but where does that put him in world rankings? Yeah, I don't think he is even top15. Meanwhile, Idra gets to play the best terrans in the world under perfect conditions. Select's reasoning is justified.

He is on Dignitas.. which is why it says Team Dignitas on his sweater.

Is that team good? Why is he on it?

if i had to guess, i'd say it's because they pay to send him to tournaments

Yeah. I think it'd be cool if he stayed with them.

Har har.

If it's not your thing, don't watch it, but it's definitely a legitimate competition.

It would be retarded to take cs or css. If you want a pc fps, it should be Quake live/3.

As a very long time CS player I don't think any other games even come close to the skill requirements of macro focused RTSes like BW and SC2. The skill and consistency ceiling is just sooo much higher.

After this tourney :
- I love select and will follow him now, like Fenix after last week IEM
- I love huk, he seems very kind, smart and spiritual. That "It's Halo, don't worry" was so funny :D
