The American championship of the 5th Intel Extreme Masters is running since quite some time already (finals are coming up in early October in NYC!) and I hope you already heard about it. Our website has all the information about it in case you haven't. The European championship was started just after our Global Challenge at gamescom, Germany which I hope you enjoyed as much as I did.
Overview & Schedule:
The European championship consists of four stages:
1. National Qualifiers - Finished on September 13th
These have been going on for quite some time and you can find an overview on our website and I believe some of our partners spread the word about them in this forum as well. Basically all countries are granted a certain number of spots in different stages of the tournament. Example: If you finish top 2 in the Swedish qualifier you will get a direct invite to the mainround and skip all further qualification tournaments. If you finish first in Italy you get a slot in the first qualification round and still have to win two matches to get slot in the mainround.
2. Qualification Rounds - QR1: Finished on September 23rd - QR2: Finished on October 7th/14th
There are two qualification rounds. Both consist of 24 players and only 12 of them will go through. The matches are randomly drawn and are Best-of-Three.
3. European Championship - Finished on December 2nd
24 players are divided into 6 groups with 4 players each. Top 2 of each group advance. The default date for theses matches will be Thursday, 18:00 GMT (+00:00). ESL TV will broadcast the highlight matches of each playday.
4. European Championship Finals - January 20th - 23rd
The 12 best players will go to the LAN finals in Kiev's CyberArena in Ukraine. More details & pictures of the location can be found on our website.

Nbs is a terran. Good luck, Nbs!
Will there be an english stream ?
There are more terran players than zerg and protoss combined. And the only Turkish player is BLooD who plays protoss.
Skruf and Dimaga GOGO :D And Tarson ofc.. Didn't see him there..
Awesome :D Let's see how the new patch will affect the Terrans in this tournament. I'm very interested too see how is morrow playing with the new patch :D.

I see 1 guy who is representing my country XD
I will support BLooD and Zerg players.
head hunter is protoss ;e and skyless Terran
lol, with all those terran they still managed to get a ZvZ.
Nice.
Though i guess that guarantees a zerg will win at the very least, one game.
On September 24 2010 01:35 SiguR wrote: lol, with all those terran they still managed to get a ZvZ.
Nice. they wanted to make sure a zerg advances
BLooD is playing right now. He won the last game on scrap station and it's 2-1.
Turkish stream: http://www.livestream.com/ozzymoto
BLooD lost, 3-1. That's it for Turkey until I join the next one
is there any link with updated results?
anyone have a link to the bracket?
27 Terran 14 Protoss 7 Zerg
Way to be original Terrans...
Is there a place to view the qualification rounds?
OP updated (click the spoiler). Thanks for the headsup regarding some of the player's races, should all be fixed now.
Replays can be found in the details of each match, check here: http://www.esl-world.net/masters/season5/europe_sc2_qr/
Naniwa vs. WuLvEraTe will be on Saturday at 10:00 GMT (+00:00) Skruf vs. ho8ot is postponed to Friday, 16:00 GMT (+00:00)
Skruf won 3:2 which might have been the only ZvZ in the whole tournament. Replays are here.
Naniwa vs. WuLvEraTe coming up in about two hours to finish QR1.
Naniwa won 3:0 (Replays) so QR1 is over. Matches for QR2 will be announced next week, I just updated the OP accordingly.
Updated the OP with the QR2 matches. Some huge matchups coming up in that round. First matches are scheduled for Thursday 17:00 GMT (+00:00).
I hope all the Polish players do well.
Updated the OP with QR2 results. Just three players are missing, the groups for the regular season will be announced early next week!

Why is whitera never uploading any reps?

sad to see so few zergs cus of how imbalanced the game was at the time of the qualifiers. Should have qualifiers closer to the actuall events.
I have no interesst in watching newb terrans battle it out in TvT, never even heard of many of these guys.

Hopefully protosses and zergs can fight the terrans. Will be good event nevertheless.

that are many zergs yes!? Not that ESL can do anything about it, but I most likely wont follow this tourney now that there are almost no zergs to watch which is a real shame- ESL cologne was amazing.

cheer on me folks

Updated the OP with info regarding the LAN finals in January next year. And also posted the schedule for the regular season.
The first matches are going to happen tomorrow night. Will keep you updated with links to stream, replays etc.
Is there any stream for this?
Europe might have a nice quality of Zerg players but we're seriously lacking in quantity. ServanT FIGHTING!
ESL TV (http://tv.esl.eu) will stream PredY vs. Socke in 20 minutes and afterwards it's going to be Tarson vs. jimpo.
Kas vs. HasuObs, Naama vs. SaJeR and SjoW vs. Skruf were all postponed to next week.

Sooo many games I want to see this Thursday =)
ESL TV will broadcast another two matches live tonight at 18:00 GMT (+00:00) (in 4 hours).
First of all it will be
Socke vs. ServaNt
and afterwards it's
HasuObs vs. Jimpo
I updated the OP with all results from playday 1 - a couple of big upsets there with DeMusliM and DIMAGA both losing their first round matches thus making it very difficult for the two to actually qualify for the finals.
There not much cover on HasuObs is there? I never really see anything on him really.

november eleven is today =D cool, hope it be available on a port 80 streamer like ustream morrow is T or Z ? xDDDDD

That third Socke game was absolutely insane, very entertaining game.
Storm + carrier = gg terran.
lol Socke so sick. Behind all game and manages to come back with his high tech army. Especially liked when he killed the 200/200 mass tanks with way less supply and Archon+Immortal and later when he lost all his army but just squeezed out 2 Carriers to kill the rest of the terran's army.
Just awesome to watch Socke every time.
Would have been nice, if this would have been in the calendar.
On November 12 2010 04:19 cameronkrazie86 wrote: That third Socke game was absolutely insane, very entertaining game. Yeah I would recommend everyone who hasnt seen it to watch the replay of the 3rd game Socke vs Servant. Typical Socke macro game with storms and carriers, coming back from behind. Carriers are not useless after all. Servant played great as well, props to him.
Before tank nerf I would have won that :p, I had like 80% in this match up before the tank nerfs
gg grats socke

WP 4Servy!

It's retarded how weak Mech is in TvP. sick harass and positioning all-game just to lose to the fact that immortals + air isn't really beatable with a mech army
But seriously that Servy impressed and surprised me alot Well played buddy

DIMAGA and DeMusliM was out omg
Updated the OP with the latest results from Playday 2. The last bunch of matches of said playday will happen on Thursday, Nov 18 6:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) and ESL TV will stream in English again.
Also: Both, Naama and SjoW are already qualified for the European Championship Finals. Expect more names on that list after Thursday...

DIMAGA and merz actually still played, just a bit later. merz won 2:1, so DIMAGA is out already...
BRAT_OK and ClouD postponed their match to this weekend (most likely new date is Saturday),

If we get 1 zerg in this tournament it will be 1 more than IEM America.

Yeah....... someone at ESL needs to start putting these into the TL calendar.
Guarenteed to boost their viewers by like 5 times.
And considering this is a proper broadcast, in a studio, not just one guy and his livestream - you should take easy and free promotion!

so much for IEM.... the one in cologne was so epic...now this will be IEM NY again...terran fest lameness

is there a reason why there aren't many good zergs in Europe?
On December 03 2010 03:44 udgnim wrote: is there a reason why there aren't many good zergs in Europe?
EU has been very Terran based ever since beta, there are good chunk og good zerg players, but they aren't really shining and are struggling alot still
hopefully with TLO and MorroW switching to Zerg we can get more, and maybe in the future Mondragon and Koll could return and murder everyone <3
I think because they get sick of getting raped by the mighty terrans
On December 03 2010 03:44 udgnim wrote: is there a reason why there aren't many good zergs in Europe? I would dare to say its more than in US
But apart from that, the qualifyer for this tournament was before the roach patch. That might play a role in the lack of zerg as well.

esl .tv doesn't work. oh how usual, please switch to a better player.

Naniwa is playing for europe this weekend vs america which isnt comforting at all if this is the mental state he is in at the moment.
Kiev so no visa problem for Bratok this time, oh god if he doesn't qualify for the first time for the only event he can actualy play, i'll be so sad as a fanboy ><
wow depending on how Whitera vs. BratOK ends there will be 11 terrans and 1 Protoss or 10 Terrans and 2 Protoss at the IEM european finals. Kinda funny but also sad. TvT is not really the most exciting matchup^^
its europe what you expect?
Anyway I wish predy glhf in kiev, in our group he had the best map result with the 3 tied players, me, morrow and predy.
we shoulda just coinflipped and let us all go except bischu. thats more fair i think. i think its unfair just because predy won more games than us that he should go
ggs socke and predy and gl!^^
Updated the OP once again. Only two matches are missing: SjoW vs. Naama which will decide the top 2 ranking of group C and White-Ra vs. BRAT_OK - the winner will qualify for the finals while the loser is out.
Also: While MorroW might be out of the EU championship now (Q_Q) he is still qualified for the Season 5 World Championship Finals in March next year since he won the Global Challenge gamescom.
Time to just say "fuck the qualifiers" and invite a bunch of Protoss and Zerg players to prevent this being the most boring SC2 LAN ever.
wow that's alot of terrans, 10/12 terrans so far? :D
wow. i knew Europe was T dominated...... but REALLY!?
Is WhiteRa vs BratOK being played right now?

They will most likely play tomorrow.

Socke only toss so far. Knowing his PvP I guess he is quite glad about that. :D

This is again starting to look like the times before Zerg buff patches.

easy going for Socke, he only needs to prepare for PvT. Its the same for him at the EPS Germany Finals, 3 Terras + Socke
