Hyperdub had obvious methodic followups after his Proxy Banshee (game 1) failed- teched straight to siege tanks to setup a contain to catch up. Brilliant tactics. I'd even argue Hyperdub had a followup if his cheese was "caught".
lol, in all fairness, the "amazing micro" wasn't really there in the last game. not saying it was a bad game.

Wow people are getting really worked up over this cheese stuff. If people assume stuff about their opponents and their opponents takes advantage of it then they deserve to lose. Most cheeses are stoppable if scouted. Some of the korean players in GSL seem to have their building placements or scouting patterns set up to prevent this sort of stuff. A lot of players scout around their mains and naturals religiously for cheese plays, proxy pylons etc. Noone is going to play a 30 minute game when they can win in 5 mins by exploiting a chink in their opponents armor. Its up to the player who is playing for mid/late game to ensure that he can get there by ensuring that his opponent is upto no tricks.

I can't believe the poll results, that game was pure garbage. The P would have died to speedlings in less than 10 minutes against any diamond zerg, including me. TheWind made so many noob mistakes like leaving 7 broodlords without any support losing all of them to stalkers, and letting AnyProPrime recoup by allowing him to take the gold expo. horrible game
Would you stop responding? We know you want to show off that you're 800 in diamond, but seriously...

So many people crying about TLO losing.
Get over it.
It was a Bo3 and the better player won.
Gj Hyperdub.

Did you watch the Marine micro? TLO had the Marines surrounded by the SCVs and Hyperdub targetted the 'smaller' cluster of SCVs to the right of the main's edge allowing him to move freely around the Barracks while the Bunker was constructed.
Your typical diamond level player would have just auto attacked and lost the Marines to the SCVs. Hyperdub didn't lose a single marine.

I dislike TLOs early thor play. The lack of vikings/banshees always gave him a lot of trouble. Thors can shoot air, fine, but they are so fat and slow that one single banshee can to a lot of dmg. Thats the reason why TLO nearly lost the 1st game, and lost the 2nd. The cheese was annoying, but TLO could have lost 0-2 right away without any cheese involved.
Still entertaining to watch. Lets hope for gsl season 2.

Horrible play by TheWind in this series. You say this as if the protoss player wouldn't be able to rebuild the pylon if it went down. Plus, he could easily like 6+ lings trying to kill the pylon, and a well placed force field or 2 could potentially save the pylon and still get several ling kills, which in a close game can decide the game.
It would still give you more time to build up your defense. A lot better than running your lings around the map doing nothing that an overlord or a single zergling couldn't do.

Are you trying to say protoss could get away with fe without cannon support against any competent zerg? TheWind was just awful in that series.

no more foreigners, I really like Hyperdub's name tho, it sounds so cool. But gotta cheer for that SC2 Baby/Koll

Am I to compare his micro in that last game to a typical diamond player? No, I'm comparing to his competition in the tournament. Yes, he picked his way out of the mass of scvs and mules, what were his spare 2 scvs there doing? If he actually did lose those 5 marines, would those 2 scvs have been the critical factor?
Tester micros 1 zealot and 2 probes againsts 2 zealots by sliding the probes in between right as NFS's zealot is trying to attack Tester's zealot. Then pulls out and attacks with the zealot. All while microing a zealot and a probe to attack a zealot and a lotta probes.
Now - the critical question is - did Hyperdub need to micro as much in his last game, especially where he probably felt he would win at that point? Maybe not so - but that's a point where people are complaining about. The lack of "OMGOMGOMG, IS TLO GOING TO HOLD IT OFF?!" or "OMGOMGOMG HYPERDUB BLOCKS ALL THE SCVS CHASING WITH HIS TWO SCVS" isn't there.

:'( so sad for you TLO. You're a great player, i'm shure you saw your little errors better than the rest of us. I think with more clean play & multitasking you can reach the heights of something similar to a S-Class BW player, everything is there.
gg's work hard i'm still a fan!!

So much Hyperdub hate. TLO lost, let's move on.
Grats to Hyperdub (although I hope one of the few, proud Zs left owns him).
|
It's disappointing we didn't get to see a full game on what is by far the best map imo. I felt Hyperdub was a little dishonest in his interview saying he was confident he would win after seeing TLO's play in the first game. If you're confident you are the better player you don't do an All In, especially in a mirror match on Metalopolis.

ogsEnsnare brutalizes Bleach, and will do the same to AnyProPrime on September 27.

I think his conclusion was not to get into a mid/end game again, so the early rush was consequent along with his statement.

only tester can defend unscouted proxy rushes. sucks for tlo, better luck next time.

First game of the TLO series was a great game. Too bad he lost, hope he learns from it!

Could be that he felt he could win, faced a pretty tough battle in game 2 and decided "hey, I'm winning because my early game is more solid than his. That means his early game is susceptible to rush. I'm tired after one super long game, and one not-as-long-but-still-difficult, let me try my proxy rush."

Should have sent 1 marine to wipe out 12 of Hyper's SCV's, totally worked for Tester.
