Sucks that I have to try to avoid spoilers until some torrents are up. ;/

I'll go against the majority here and say I'm happy about this.

This almost certainly means no advertisements on the stream. It also means much higher stream quality for those of us who will pay, because there will be not be thousands of leechers on the free stream.

I admit it sucks for students or people on a fixed income, but I guarantee you there will be pirate re-streams and people who transcode the HD stream into VODs, like what happened for MLG Raleigh.

You've got another thing coming, there'll be plenty of ads on the stream. And the stream doesn't exactly have a good track record in terms of quality.

If sponsors fund the tournament with the purpose of reaching viewers, and this pay to watch scheme (such a steep price for...one month?) keeps viewership down?

Wow. I wonder if Gretech is going to blame BW or something when their unusually high price puts the kibosh on any semblance of a large audience.

its like writing to rapidshare to give us free premium accounts - they want to get $ from us, ur opinion wont change their mind to giving it for free.

Because of people like you nothing never changes :o
Even GomTV said that posting feedback directly to their site if more beneficial than posting it here, so yes maybe this won't do anything. But at least it's better than just sitting in our chairs and doing nothing.

Becase you are paying $20 for a low quality stream that plays at obsurd hours without any option for VODS for only a month that everywhere else offers for free.

You don't see why $20 a month is such a big deal when your target audience is between the ages of 16-26 (AKA highschool/university students) and all you get is a bad quality stream that lags AND you don't even get to rewatch any of the VODs unless you pay another $30 a month?

20 bucks is fine, problem is there is no free stream, and it doesn't matter if the stream is crap, its always better than nothing. What really ticks me off is that IF you for some reason don't have the time to watch a live event that you have payed for, you have to watch the VODS and they cost another 30$. So you have to pay 50 bucks per season. once the first tournament is over you have to pay 50 bucks again, and again. It's expensive as hell.

Even if there is pressure to cover sponsorship leaks, I believe this is a serious mistake. You may lose the interest of the large portion of potential viewers, and thus lose even more sponsorship. It would have been better to just reduce the prize pool, this decision is too rough. I am sorry.

@Terrakin (the troll boss)

Few points to put up:

1) 20$ to wake in the middle of night to watch some matches,
2) 30$ to watch them later at any time (BUT DURING THE TOURNAMENT NOT AFTER)
3) 99% chance of a stream slideshow in European countries and...
4) NO REFUND IF STREAM DOESNT WORK OR IS UNWATCHABLE

The $2 per day option looks good, just book the finals in advance and any foreigner matches you really want to see.

Just a note... I get over 250 channels including a bunch of HD channels, TV and Movies on demand, and I can record shows and watch them whenever I want all for $50 a month... why would I pay $20 to watch a few games a day at 3AM on a stream that I already know isn't that good, and another $30 to be able to rewatch the games whenever I want?? $50 for 250 channels at outrageously better quality and more features or $50 for a few hours a week + vods that are 460p AT BEST. Gretech is fucking retarded

i disagree, i think gomtv needs us (viewers) alot more then we need another tournament, esp with so much sc2 stuff going on these days

This is very related to what we have been complaining about before with Bnet 2.0. The people can't even get a damn game without every aspect being monetized. Corporations are the new aristocracy, that's why we have some many people that say "stop complaining" or "suck it up" because they have been brainwashed. Asking for stuff is necessary for obtaining it. I really want to watch these games, but refusing to pay these outrageous prices is like voting. Assuming that most here come from democratic societies, our complaints and REFUSAL to pay is our fundamental right and OBLIGATION.
Awesomess, you should try it... its awesome.

Additionally, target audience is not purely US citizens. For 30$ In lithuania i could go to a movie theatre to watch a movie, then go to the restaurant and have a decent meal, then go to the nearest mall and grab a couple of beers + a pack of marlboro smokes.

The problem is that there is no guarantee that the stream will work properly. I'm not paying money when they have a record of bad streams and even their connection checker says it's unwatchable from Europe.

But then again rapidshare isn't making any announcements on forums asking for feedback at their site now are they
