While I'm writing and thinking about this GOMTV should do this so they can actually get more viewers and lower the prices of the tickets which means even more income in the end lol. Much like the thread about the Guest passes and some people who made a contest and so many people were replying etc. Such greedy people there are and also at the same time generous people ![]() Edit: On September 01 2010 20:38 iaretehnoob wrote: can anyone clarify how long a season is?! If I understand correctly then It's a monthly tournament as in the winner of each monthly tournament can win 85k if I'm not mistaken.

It's Gom's loss. They're limiting their own market from a get go.

why not get a huge userbase FIRST and then let them pay for it when they are hooked? I don't see the advantage of your business model.

It also means much higher stream quality for those of us who will pay, because there will be not be thousands of leechers on the free stream. I bet there will still be advertisements! The pricing for this is ridiculous. $50 to be able to watch all the matches in a month? For a new game? The pricing structure for this is completely unreasonable. With those prices I'd expect the stream & VOD quality to be 1920x1080. ESL's premium stream quality wasn't great but at least the cost wasn't totally unreasonable. They aren't going to be making their money off of foreign streamers, and I doubt Artosis & Tasteless are getting paid well enough to warrant a price this high. I probably would have paid to go up from free to premium quality as I've done for both MLG & ESL but for $50, no thanks (and let's face it, since the games are in Korea the chances of me being able to be awake during the times of all the games is very low, forcing me to pay for VODs)

So if Bono wants fans, he gives free concerts. If GSL wants viewers they provide a free stream. And yes, we have became that accustomed to free streams since, well you know, every other tournament in the world for every other game provides free streams to its customers and fans. U2 doesnt need anymore fans, they can sell out 50,000-100,000 audience venues, theyre not going to make more money with a free concert even if theres 10x more people there. And why would GSL care about viewers who are not going to pay (like you)? Only reason other tournaments give free stream is to get the to buy the premium one or theyre way to small to get anyone to pay for premium or have infrastructure to provide one. And I agree that free low quality stream with the option of a reasonably priced premium quality stream would be the best way to go. If your not willing to pay at any price then your just a freerider, no company really cares if you watch or not.

Do you guys have any idea how much a pay per view cost for an UFC-event? And that's only a couple of hours. I happily paid 10 dollar for the MLG stream (Which was really good) and will pay for this one if the quality is good! If I can be assured that the quality will be good, then i'm sold.
