HDH finals = 30k west viewers GSL finals (GOM TV plans) 30k west viewers so thats 1.500.000 $ income for a 170.000$ priced tournament ;P And we said that Activision-Blizzard was bad....

BUT: If I pay, I wanne be able to see the damn HQ-Stream and it appears this is just impossible in Europe. If they don't fix that, I don't see the point in paying extra just to hear Tasteless talk.

or not watching at all. The view count will be terrible, at least outside of Korea. Go TLO, we can't watch you, but be fabulous anyway

Simple economics. HDH finals = free, 30k west viewers GSL finals = $20+, price is too high for demand, far less than 30k west viewers, income is far less than optimal Supply and demand, my friend, supply and demand.

Not sure about that. You do see live tv events being re-streamed and some of them are not taken down on popular streaming sites but others are (wc 2010 matches for example). But in the end it will go down on the competence of the viewer to find a re-stream. Most people wouldn't be able to find a stream if TL were to remove all posts regarding re-streams. It'll be hard but not impossible and then you'd consider paying the stream (if you have money). I'd probably find a stream since I do watch a lot of shows through streaming sites (and I actually watch different tv shows consisting of Chinese/Japanese/Dutch/German/English/Vietnamese language so I don't have a problem with finding a stream). However I do pay for most of those streams since it'll be too much time to spent on which I have better uses for. My point is that neither Gretech, TL or Blizzard can stop people from finding a way to watch GSL free regardless of difficulty of finding them. Edit: Also I wanted to point out that the more people are actually paying for the stream it means they'll more likely be able to cover their expenses/expand their business means in essence you're paying to make E-Sports grow. Which is what we all want but most people don't want to pay for their services yet want it to grow which is contradictfull.

You dont expect to go into movietheaters for free or U2 concert to be free either. Well, yes actually I would a expect a U2 concert to be free. Similar to the GSL I cannot see myself paying either at any price. So if Bono wants fans, he gives free concerts. If GSL wants viewers they provide a free stream. And yes, we have became that accustomed to free streams since, well you know, every other tournament in the world for every other game provides free streams to its customers and fans.

I can't be angry at the fee, its a business after all, I just would rather 'pay' by sitting through 5 mins of adverts every 30 mins than with actual cash - surely to the company there isn't much difference.

This almost certainly means no advertisements on the stream. It also means much higher stream quality for those of us who will pay, because there will be not be thousands of leechers on the free stream. I admit it sucks for students or people on a fixed income, but I guarantee you there will be pirate re-streams and people who transcode the HD stream into VODs, like what happened for MLG Raleigh.
