So, Idra got 1 week ban for: [00:47] <BigT> he got +2 for not allowing me to cast and another +2 for unsportmanlike conduct = 4
However, the ESL rules say that:
The Electronic Sports League can assign the coverage rights of a match or of several matches to a third party or to the actual players themselves. In this case, terms and conditions would have to be arranged with the ESL management before the match.
Did they make the terms/conditions of if BigT could cover Idra's match? I doubt it, I have yet to see any terms or conditions, otherwise this wouldn't be happening. This means that Idra's ban is UNWARRANTED unless it was for other reasons.
And if you just wanna say that you used your ("The admins reserve the right to give additional penalties.") powers, not any of the actual rules, that would be fine too. We would all see that the ban would be BS, but lawful.

none the less. even if they are banning him for a week its unjustified. They gave him 2 points for not letting BigT cast. There was no reason for the other 2 points and should not be banning him at all.

You know your first amendment rights hardly ever apply to anything done with privately owned companies right? Hell, you can say whatever you want on here, but they can just cite that this is a private forum and not in the public domain, and that I signed a thing(usually, you sign a EULA for...everything on the internet) that says I have to follow THEIR rules and they can do what they want and change them at any time.
The reason I made the "fucking computer game" comment is because you are not likely to see a situation like this outside of the internet. The way idrA acts would never be tolerated at a typical job. Hell, if he came to my job and said someone was a joke(which you see in just about every game he plays with a Terran), he'd get a warning, if he did it again, he'd have his ass kicked out the door for harassment. I like that you respect the game that much, but respecting other people should come first and the way he acts is almost pathetic, even if it is his "job".

Those last two points are fictitious. If this issue is let go by both parties and we let the tournament move on with out any interference with the brackets then we will have a much better tournament.
As an example who would want to watch the OSL or Star League w/o Flash or JaeDong? Sure you get some other good games but the current power house of the league wouldn't be there and the tournament would be cheapened because of it.
The reasoning behind why "technically it is ok for him to play" is because;
The CJEntus house eats ONLY at certain times. He HAD to leave his computer at that time or he would not get food until dinner.
Coming back to your computer after only an hour of eating to see that you have somehow "displayed a want/need to no longer play in the tournament" would be infuriating.
Getting punished for that would be even worse.
Then without even knowing he had gotten an infraction for literally "Going to lunch" and being told he was being forced to play games that had him winning no matter what happened would send me apocalyptic.
OR for barring an unknown party in relation to the ESL to watch his game, both of these are ephemeral at best and neutral to the running to the running of the tournament at worst.
As it stands, both parties are in the wrong. Idra for raging, yea it sucks but biting bullets save more pain than letting them pass.
The ESL for poor management, arbitrary penalties with no proof to discount the solid tangible proof that was put forward by last shadow.
Drama is awesome, it let's people know that what they are passionate about is alive and well but after a time it becomes vitriolic and there needs to be arbitration between the offended parties. We as watchers, players and casters feel deserving of the best tournament that our time, advertising dollars and passion. Neutering a tournament over something as minute as this is bad enough. The overreaction by both sides in response to the other deserves redaction and continuation of the tournament.
And to be quite honest who would take Idra's spot in the semis? =/ It'd be a dead slot, it'd be like Huk losing in MLG Raleigh to a no namer and everyone in the semis/finals would be thinking "wow, what a blue balled tournament."
This should just be let go and let the tourny continue because it hurts the esports community when such a divide occurs.

You can't get rid of a player because he is a "flagrant prick." There are plenty of players that I wanted to tell to fuck off in tournaments I have run, but that's not the job of a tournament organizer. You need to be professional and run the event fairly. If you have justification to ban someone from a tournament, ban them, but if you don't, then you need to sit on your hands and just patiently wait for the guy to either get knocked out or win the thing.

Summary: StrifeCro reported a win because Jobless didn't show Jobless says StrifeCro didn't respond to him trying to contact him Regardless of what actually happened, ESL management didn't catch this till IdrA had won all his matches and was moving on to the Semi's. After the fact, they realized there was a problem and that IdrA would have to replay his matches. IdrA had already disconnected and gone to lunch at that point so getting in contact with him was difficult. IdrA, pissed off that he had to play another set of matches since he already won, spewed some insults towards the lack of organization of the tournament and those running it. ESL got butt hurt and retroactively added penalty points (putting him up to 4) for BM behavior and banned him for for the season (initially) and then changed it to a week ban. Basically, ESL was stupid.

Wow, this is the best month of ESPORTS ever, by a long shot.
Also:
- what is the reason Idra hasn't been paid for a tourney win several months ago? There has to be a reason right?
- I think what put the ESL admins over the top was Idra saying that he wouldn't play out the final 4. Though completely logical by Idra, it must have made them mad on the inside.
- ESL kind of shot themselves in the foot with their detailed list of rules, because once those rules are written down, everyone will hold them to it. I bet they wish they would have gone for the standard "tourney admin decisions final".
- Is anyone clear on what game Idra has to re-play? So Jobless is now given the win over Strifeco, giving him the chance to play Bubba. Who won? If Bubba, then didn't Idra already beat Bubba (actually why would Bubba care to play Jobless in the first place)? If Jobless, the brackets are wrong.

that doesnt even do justice to their incompetence. beef posted i was banned before they were aware of the msn conversation where i insulted them, as he claims that i was refusing to play the match but in that same conversation i clearly say i will play it.
this means that they banned me because i won all my matches and then left before they figured out that they messed up the brackets despite not contacting me at all after realizing their mistake.

This is really unfortunate that there was zero investigation into the matter except for taking this at point blank and not looking into the fact this is a multiple party penalty over something extraneous to the development of the tourny.

Because opinions of his personal behavior aside, he's still one of the best players in the world and the organizers of the tournament appear to be covering their asses for banning him because they don't like him. It's a shoddy way to run a tournament, and they've done nothing but backpedal and make up numbers for how they came up with banning him (for longer than what their rules would direct). If this is how they treat someone they don't like, how does it bode for the future of any of their tournaments?
