The Ogre twins (ogre 1 and ogre 2 who are twin brothers, only 1 of them still plays) and there former longtime teammate walshy have all earned well over half a million dollars each from the Halo series.(MLG signed them to a 3 year, 250,000$ each, deal a while back) They dominated the scene of halo1, and halo 2. In halo 3 they have maintained top 8 but they are not the halo bonjwa's they once were. One year they won every mlg event. The ogre twins never lost a game 2v2 in halo 1 EVER! They also won the wcg 2v2 in halo 2. The last mlg halo 2 event (before they switched over to halo3) they're team of 4 consisting of Ogre1, Ogre 2, walshy, and strongside won the vegas finals without losing a single game in any best of 5's or best of 7's. But I recently read a blog by one of the ogres that says he has approximately 50,000 dollars of unpaid winnings. But he doesn't specify which events and which leagues owe him. They're team was STK (Shoot To Kill) back in the halo 1 days. They've gone by Final Boss ever since. So... basically you're bragging about two Halo players on a SC site, while saying Halo dwarfs SC. You should probably be a bit more clear - I can guarantee that the Halo scene does not dwarf the StarCraft scene. Maybe the North American Halo scene, dwarfs the North American StarCraft scene, but SC2 literally just released, and it's going to take a little bit of time to grow. But trust me, if you think the SC scene is small in number... you just haven't met us yet. I like that MLG is picking this up. A very good sign for the NA SC2 scene. Let's see how many people turn out to start, although I'm interested to see if more than 32 show up. I think $60 is gonna be a bit steep for anyone who's not sponsored by someone.

In america halo is still a bit bigger scene especially in the mlg circuit. one of the brothers had a million contract with red bull. all of teh players on the team (final boss) have their own house. halo payed quite good money and many companies are willing to sponsor for halo tourneys. i know cause i was about to by gamestop. i know others that were sponsored by even walmart lol. sc, not in my knowledge, wasnt that big of a scene in NA. actually i feel that its ridiculed in a way ![]() but now with blizzard trying to actually market sc2 it could possibly fly.

I'm so, so happy about this! This is exactly what North America needs to really put SC2 on the map. I really believe we're going to be witnessing history in the making.

This is indeed the mindset of the younger players out there imo. I'm really glad MLG picked up SC2. I wish I got the tech channel that airs games sometimes so I could experience the little bit of embrace happening in the US.

Taken out of context. He was probably responding to the guy a few posts above him: On July 31 2010 08:42 xBillehx wrote: It kind of confuses me how much of the MLG community think Starcraft 2 can be as big as Halo: Reach. Am I just oblivious to the other gaming communities? I was under the impression that the Starcraft scene is much much bigger than Halo. ??? With that said, it's good to see MLG pick up Starcraft 2 and hopefully open up the doors to a competitive proleague in North America similar to that of Korea! Goodluck JP! Halo is far bigger than SC2 at the moment whether we like it or not. Just reality.

The amount people play SC2 won't fly with the MLG audience. If you go over on the MLG boards and post that you play 8-12 hours a day (which a lot of people do), everyone is going to call you a nerd.
