Many times to try to nail the Bronze benchmarks, which I'm constently hitting in the ladder recently, only using the "Bronze Build" which consists of Marines only. My average SQ is something like 78-83... which is quite good for Bronze! It might drop a lot when I'll use the other build, the Silver one. You guys can add me, Qube.183 on NA.

Gold league protoss player...others may have better advice but in my experience Look at your replays and make sure your macro is as good as it can be. Beyond that: You could scout it and build relatively more marauders than marines; at 10 min and at this level of play protoss is unlikely to have very many collosus and you can often just snipe them with enough marauders. You could pull back once you see collosus and forcefields and build several vikings (& more army) before pushing again. A lot of players seem to build vikings blindly but I don't think this is a good practice (esp since I default to archon chargelot ^_^). Against protoss it can be helpful to send a few units a few steps ahead to bait forcefields / last minute scout without risking your whole army. Protoss will often split an army with forcefields that they would otherwise be unable to engage safely and then tear it apart one half at a time, taking advantage of collosus' long range. If you bait enough forcefields without getting caught he won't be able. If you do pull back to build more army / vikings / upgrades simultaneously going for drops in his main would be a good idea. Many players will either over or under react, leading to either an economic lead or an opportunity to push into his natural. edit: pretty far off topic

This seems to not be an area covered by the guides. However, watching the reviews I do find that I am not perfect in my 10 minute macro and as such I strive to improve that first.

Love the series. After taking a lengthy break I returned and used the Terran series as a guide. After a short time in Silver I moved up to gold. Playing low to mid level golds was easy mode. However, now that I am mainly matched up against platinum players things have gotten much harder. I may win 1 in 5 or maybe 2 in 5. Against gold opponents the 10 minute push tended to be either game ending or severely crippled my opponent. Now most players are ready for the push and I either back out or do little damage. After this point I feel a bit lost and often lose when the 200/200 battle happens. This seems to not be an area covered by the guides. However, watching the reviews I do find that I am not perfect in my 10 minute macro and as such I strive to improve that first. I have the same problem. I am at the plat level benchmarks, and they are incredibly hard to hit. Basically, the guides say you should do a follow up attack at 14 minutes with a maxed out army. But, if you lose your initial army in the 10 minute push, it should add 30-60 seconds. Overall, ILosethenOP, you should focus on macroeing, and doing another push (this one hopefully game ending) at that time. Hope my advice helps.

The plat benchmarks were designed to be extremely difficult to hit, always pushing players to get better and better (myself included). You can hit them, but it takes nearly flawless play to do so by design. Something a bit interesting, even though I was high masters when I consistently played and tried to improve it was entirely on the back of good macro play. I recently had my ass handed to me in a micro tourney custom map with some friends that are silverish level. I don't mean I lost by a bit.. I got crushed badly in basically a 1win to 2loss ratio. I cover up my poor micro mostly with good positioning before battles take place, and good knowledge of my opponents army position/tech structures. My spending Quotient is usually around 100 or slightly when I'm in shape. That means the entirety of my skill is on the back of macro play. I still play, and I still read this thread just not nearly as often as I used to. I really hope HoTS gives me an excitement and kick to get back into the game though.

It feels like an area that is rarely covered but, at least for Terrans, is an incredibly important concept. I have discovered while watching replays that I will often have a supply advantage and better or at least even upgrades but will lose battles due to positioning. This is especially true in TvT.

Haha, I am on a small break to get caught up on RL stuff, but I was having this trouble with army control and positioning. I was able to make large improvements on this with one of the micro maps on the arcade (dargelein's I think)--I forget which one, but it has about 20 different micro things to practice like marine splitting against banelings. The ones that I practiced were the marine tank push against zerg and the "Deathball" one v. protoss. The deathball one makes you split your army, emp with ghosts, stim, kill colossus with vikings and then land them. Most of my stupid losses (i.e. where I have a large advantage and then just lose my army) come from attacking into the opponents pre positioned army. I try now to get out on the map and pre-position my army and let the other guy attack into me. That said if Filter would make a positioning video, I would watch it--the Bronze to Masters series was amazingly well made. I hope Filter gets back into the game, because I really think HOTS is a lot of fun.

I found two Terran dailies from [day9] that deal with army control and positioning #394 & # 478. They are focus on TvT but I think some of it can be use in TVP or TvZ. #394 part three, I found to be very helpful in establishing a position(map control) and attacking based on you opponents position. The section on tank lines was very informative.
