Queen spread, and zerg hotkeys.

Hey guys, I play zerg and when I started playing Starcraft 2 I was binding my hatch to the hotkey "4" this is a habit I have, I would bind my first queen on "3" my second on "5" etc etc. Eventually I started learning that I kinda should have the first 3 numbers (1-3) open for my army ESPECIALLY as a zerg? So now I am trying to learn to use my queens on hotkey 5 and 6. I have heard that you can like cycle through the queens or hatcheries or something using tab? But I cant figure it out.
I was just wondering what binds people use for this. How much do you usually split up your army?

I have my bases on 5,6,7,8,9 (location hotkeys)
All my hatcheries are on 4
Ground army on 1 and 2
Mutas on `
other units on 3
Evo chambers on f5 (normal ctrl group)
Spire on f6 (normal ctrl group)

tl;dr
I don't bind my queens at all.

My hotkey are 1-3 Army, 4 all hatcherys, 5 all queens, 6-9 situational (nydus, overseer, etc.), 0 (mapped on the button left of the 1) another army hotkey.

3 groups is usually enough, but the 4th one helps a lot with diverse army compositions, or for keeping track of specific unit groups.

You can cycle through your hatcherys with the base-cam key (default on Backspace). If you got all your queens on a shared hotkey, you can just tab through the bases and inject, it will always use the closest queen. But if you got less queens than hatches, your queens will start wandering all over the place.
Other people just give each queen a hotkey, double-tap and inject each.
Its a matter of preference. I prefer the base-cam method, but with custom hotkeys and usage of a camera-hotkey too (save current spot, start injecting, jump back to saved spot).

I inject this way: 5,click queen, F(moved it from V), click, repeat for each hatchery

and i moved 0 to ` because honestly no one can reach the 0 key. Didn't need push to talk anyway

I use 1 and 2 for ground army, 3 for mutas, 4 for infestors, 5 for queens, 6 for hatches, 7 for overseer, and ujm for buildings (evo chamber, nydus network, etc.)

For injects, I either use the minimap to inject (not the fastest method out there, but it works), or the base cycle (I bound it to spacebar)

There are several different ways of handling injects, I suggest try them all and see which feels best for you

I don't bind my queens. I actually unbound "q" and bound the home key (Originally tab) to "q". So I spam q and it cycles thru my hatches. I don't cycle inject, I just press q to centre over a hatch and manually click the queen, reposition her near a spore or spine or whatever and inject. I miss some injects but I make up for it with a macro style that revolves around queens and hatches. So mid/late game larva is never really a problem.
If I keep making drones and expanding while fending off their attacks, I'm sure to win...right?

1-3 army. 4 for my scouting unit(usually my first overlord) 5 for all my bases...678 for queens.

I use F1-F4 camera keys for my Hatches so to inject I just F1 drag for queen and inject, Also rebinding ` to cycle bases have all Queens on say 6 you just spam ` and click fast and all bases will be injected if they were ready, its useful for late game.

I use 1-4 for army 5 for Hatches, 6-0 I rarely use as I build my tech structures and evos around my Hatches so I just check their upgrade time while I'm cycling my injects.

Some people use 6/7/etc for Queens and just double tap to inject.

backspace (center/cycle through hatcheries) set to mouse thumb button (in the mouse driver/software). 1,2,3 units. 4 all queens. 5 all hatcheries.
inject: 4, hold shift, LI hotkey, backspace, click, backspace, click, backspace, click, ... until done with every base.

Later in the game if I need another army hotkey I use 5.

So ling/bling/muta is usually lings/blings on 1, mutas on 2
ling/bling/muta/infestor is usually lings/blings on 1, mutas on 2, infestors on 5
early game zvz is lings 1 roaches 2 (so i can target fire banelings) followed into late game roaches 1 infestors 2, speedlings to base harass 5

Larvae inject = 3`v click `v click `v click takes like a fraction of a second to do them all.

There are also rare circumstances where I hotkey a single hatchery to 6, if it is like a hidden expansion and I dont want to produce units from there yet, only drones. So my main hatcheries will produce units while that one will only pump drones until saturation.

And I use the function keys as well. F1 for main, F2 for natural, F3 for third, etc.

Larva inject: 55v click, 66v click, 77v click. Or 5v click on minimap.

I have all hatcheries bound to 5, all queens on 4. One queen next to each hatchery. Rebind the base camera (backspace) to the spacebar, then hit 4(space)click hatchery and repeat until all bases are done. I also have a designated "creep spread" queen bound to 0 that I drop one creep tumour with every round of injects.
I'm awesome, and I f--k dolphins.
