So i'm in a tournament, ro32 atm out of 564 and I am matched to play against someone tomorrow that grossly outclasses me. He is terran, I am protoss. Despite me feeling like I have quite good ff+storm control, I feel like I will simply be overran.
I am diamond, he is GM.

For this reason, I am requesting some relatively cheesy builds to give me a fighting chance
Huge thanks in advance! :D:D

3 gate voidray(warp in to high ground) and 4 gate blink are extremely strong builds vs Fast Expo terrans, which is all the rage nowadays in higher levels.

3 gate void ray is the way to go imo

Although, if you know your opponent doesn't wall in, you could also try a proxy 2gate

He's GM? Don't you think he might frequent TL? I would at least avoid putting it out there which build you will use.

I would still be wary, but I'm sure you knew that. As far as builds, I'm a Z, no help here, sorry :b

Generally I open a 2gate into expo+robo, however I feel like the siege tank banshee marine allin is rediculously powerful, even against the so-called counter of immortals :/

You can play around with 1-2 gate proxy on certain maps.
Mcs gas first 4 gate void ray all in is strong once you practice the proxy stargate timings. He used this versus MKP in the gsl world championship on crevasse.

Marines+siege lose to 3gate zealots while tank+banshees lose to void rays/phoenix (it will hit before cloak)

Note you will also hit before the 1-1-1 timing is ready, and usually the raven is produced first, and it is useless against voids+lots

Would the unit comp on that mix be zeals out of gates and drop gas into VR's? or just burn gas on stalkers instead?

Depends on their composition. If there are banshees, I would use stalkers. If there are tanks, I would have more lots. If it's a ton of marines, I would throw in sentries. But yes, constant VR production with the gas is needed (unless there is a banshee rush, then chrono out pheonix)

If you are up against a GM and you don't normally get to play vs. GM, this is your perfect opportunity to improve (at least that's how I would feel). So play your standard game and see how you match up, how you need to improve, etc.

Even as Masters, knowing the rank of my opponent basically dictates whether I marine/scv all-in or play standard. Against a diamond I don't want to spend 15 minutes and then crush him, just get through to the next round quickly. I suggest proxy 2 gate because he will most likely all-in you himself with superior micro.

I feel relatively well with my macro, however early game timings are my weakest point in pvt.
I currently have a 76% win vs terran, and all those losses are pre-10 minute timings.
Essentially I plan on playing standard g1, but if I lose, hell why not bust out a cheese?

ALSO - does anyone remember a game recently where a EU toss played a EU terran in a bo3 and did proxy voids both games? (one game was on shakuras, other was on shattered temple) I want to say it was naniwa,,,,

If you really feel like you have no chance you may as well just 15 nexus and 6 gate all in. Not part of the meta game so much anymore I think.

Warp prism 4 gate or dt rush + pylon + hallucination are my votes.

Zealots!

When your first Zealot gets there, see if he walls.

If so, you need to gas immediately, stop zealots momentarily, and make a CyberCore. From here, you can start making Chronoed Stalkers (throw down a third gate at some point) or go into 3G blink play, probably not what you want to do.

If not, throw down a third gate and keep rallying Zealots to ze minerals.

Just remember, cheese is a crutch. If you don't know how to walk, it won't matter that you have a crutch. Likewise, if that crutch is kicked out from under you, you're going to fall.

Also, void ray rushing, even by proxy, may not work if he opens 2rax MM or 3rax cheese. I'd be really cautious about that one.

do you know the maps you will be playing on? the strength of many cheese builds are dependent on the map.

dark templar rush, cannon rush, 4 gate, hide a pylon in base, cannon rush, and probably a proxy stargate our your best bets for cheese. but DT's are always my favorite GOOD LUCK!!!

It's not very good because he'll have a lot of marines and can get easy access to vikings but if you recognize that he's doing the 1-1-1 early and switch to phoenix instead you will have the edge generally.

IMO it's the only way to actually survive that attack if it's done properly by a player two leagues above you . Mind you your timing will have to actually be perfect.

ideas:
- on 2 player maps like xel naga, proxy 2 gate in their base.
- normal 2 gate
- hidden dt tech
- hidden expo really quick
- 3gate vr
- warp prysim with sentrys to blokc his units out while you wreck his base

thats about all the cheese i can think of

3 Gate voidray allin and DT rush are the best cheeses you can do to him.

These cheese plays are so unlikely to work vs a GM opponent. But I'm very happy for protoss to keep trying them

Marines are just so strong early game.

1 base fast colosus + range , if you manage to hide the tech he will assume voidray or dts = turrets and a lot more marins = autowin.

He will probably do 1/1/1 or 2 rax + expo like most terrans out there. I would prepare something according to that, HuK's 20 food expo -> 4-5 gate + robotics can if you cut probes hold 1/1/1 if you are good and if you are really good perhaps hold 2 rax, but doubtful. Also that also beats 1 rax + fe. I would deffinetly check that out, I think your chances are better doing that then taking a chance with 4 gate perhaps and lose game in 6 mins.

I don't recommend playing standard, i mean diamond v GM is gna be real hard for you. You can do the 6/7 gate sentry chargelot w +1 armour allin, but i think it hits after the popular 1-1-1 timing. Genius did it against boxer in the up/down matches i think

Can someone link to a decent 3 gate voidray build? Also, what are the advantages over g'nai's 2 gate stalker pressure into void ray? I like the timing on the 12/15 two gate, but it cuts some probes. will a "normal" 3 gate void ray keep up decent pressure early?
