Hey guys I know this has probably been brought up several times but I don't want to Necro-post so I made this thread and I couldn't find any threads that fully answered my questions. I am currently a Gold Protoss and I would like to know some BO's for each race. I got to gold by 4 gating and I realize I could go further but I actually want to learn the game. I've been to Liquipedia but I want to know what the actual players use. I know there isn't a magic build order but I'm just looking for a solid opening.
Which build to you use against a certain race? (For example PvP Adel's No Gas)
Also, What are some tips to improve my macro? I know always be making probes, watching the supply count, etc. I watch DayJ a lot so I'm familiar with what to do, I just can't implement it during games.
Thanks

Im in Silver but have recently been matched with Golds and even a Plat or two so I can probably contribute a bit. Im not very good and my style is kind of "plain and safe" (never once four gated, canon rushed, DT rushed), but Ive managed to keep about 65% win rate through silver so far.
vs. Terran and Protoss, I like to do a 2 gate robo opener, usually gate robo gate. I like having a fast observer for either scouting or insurance against cloakshee or DT's. I usually stay away from sentries because they eat so much gas and cut into collossi tech, plus I suck at force fields so they go largely wasted on me. This build would probably be much better for me if I would just suck it up and practice FFs. Based on my scout, Ill decide on my timing for an expo and take it around 6:30-9 min.
vs. Zerg, I admittedly do the same build as above because its so flexible, but lately Ive been dabbling with stargate play with decent results. Zerg doesnt have any real AA aside from their queen early game so voids for roaches/buildings, a few phoenix for lifting queens/drones, and zealots to mop up what is left. A phoenix run-by does a good job of scouting vs. zerg.
As for macro tips, the biggest break thru I had was to not build structures I dont need. I went 3 gate robo for the longest time until one day, I decided to play with 2 gate robo. I realized that if I keep up with production cycles, I dont need that third gate because my army gets no bigger when I have it. That opens the door for a forge and +1 upgrades pretty early, game circumstances allowing.
My macro has really taken a leap lately, probably the reason Im up against higher leagues. I dont really have any ground breaking tips, its just that finally the standard "build probes, build pylons, dont get supply locked, dont miss a prod cycle" finally "clicked" in my brain and I got a rhythm down. I can generally keep my minerals low until well into my third base now when Im on 70 probes. Im not on top of my cycles as well as I could be this late in the game, but at this point in the match I have enough extra minerals to build a few extra gates/robo bays for fast reinforcing.
I can vouch for the fact that most of my wins are not due to strategy, counters or anything that requires any thinking. I just have more shit than most of the players Im matched against - I would have never believed this 3 months ago, so keep up with it.

vs Terran
KCDC's 1gate FE is a strong build if you are confident in your ability to remain calm vs early attacks. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=142887
Another good one is a standard Gateway Core Robo Gateway build. This gets an early Immortal for dealing with early barracks attacks (if thats what you think is coming) but also gives you the option of rapidly chronoboosting out an Observer if you scouted banshees or if you haven't been able to scout your opponent. these are good safe options.
vs Protoss
There is really only one option here. the 4gate is so dominant in PvP that your build either needs to be designed with it in mind. You could either stick with a 4gate of your own for this matchup, or, if you want to learn a different build, go with the 3 Stalker rush Robo variation

vs Zerg
3gate Sentry expand is the safest and most flexible/robust opening a Protoss can do vs a Zerg. http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/3_Gate_Sentry_Expand

Sorry to be harsh, but im not suprised that this didn't get auto closed. Liquidipedia is an awesome resource and should be consulted before most questions are asked here.
my answers line up pretty well with Dhalphir except I go 1 base colossus vs terran and crush his expo once i see it while taking my own.

I do use Liquipedia quite often but I was just wondering what the actual players use not what a website tells me.

guess im not really contributing by saying that at your level you can get away with 4 gating every time against every race
