I am sick of playing PvP. I hate it. It is miserable. I love Starcraft II, but when I say that I mean doing things other than 4gating against a 4gate. It was okay in beta when people were still dumb enough to play Zerg, but now that 50% of my games are PvP.... it makes me rage, win or lose.
I want a cheese that will quickly win or lose Diamond level games. Essentially, I want the closest thing I can do to alt+f4ing but with a chance of winning.
I'm also interested in unconventional strategies that have a chance of actually winning. There seem to be plenty of nifty ideas, and they all seem to lose to a+moved mass stalkers.
Might just have to get a hang of the korean warp-gate in-base strat =/

Proxy 2gate in base or cannon rush, basically. Proxy gates is probably more effective but sometimes you might want to mix it up.
|
^This, it seems to be the easiest thing to do verse 4 gate cheese and it has a fairly even chance of win/lose.
|
Proxy 3 gate. It counters warpgates and tech builds pretty well. It gets countered by 3-4 gate in base without warp though, but those are not very commonly seen.
|
FF your ramp and tech to mass archon IMO
|
As much as I've lawled/raged at proxy-gaters since the start of beta, I guess it's that time.
Thank you guys for understanding my rage and trying to help rather than laughing and flaming XD

proxy 3 gate zealot rush
Try and put your pylon where you can block it off with gateways (so he cant easily kill it with probes).
If its a 4 player map send 1 of your first probes to the other side of the map, and send your first probe from your nexus to the base across from you. If hes at the base across from you you dont need to proxy, otherwise build with the first probe you sent out.
I usually do 10 pylon 10 gateway 14 gateway 15 pylon 16 zealot, cut probe production after you have 16 probes (optimal mining level) 18 gateway
once you have all 3 gateways making zealots and around 4 zealots out head to his base. If he went stalkers send 2-3 to attack the stalkers and use the rest to drop his pylons. Once his pylons are down you win.
I do it in almost every pvp, its my least favorite matchup
Coincidentally, i probably have my highest winrate in pvp.

Try more sentries and teching? You can stay a gate behind if you have enough Forcefield
|
start out normal. 13 gate, 14 gas, 15 pylon then cyber. Mine gas till 50. Save Chrono boost. Keep your scout alive. If dies, send another one. Start chorno boosting warpgate research. Make three more gateways. start building pylon everywhere in his base. as soon as you are done your research, start warping zealots in his base.

Can only force-fields for so long. And a Collosi popping in PvP does not have the same shock and awe affect as it does in other matchups =/
Gonna try some of this out and report back :D

Haha we played each other twice the past couple of days, and I believe both were 4 gate vs 4 gate. As for PvP cheese, proxy two gates work the best against me. If you can get them in their base it's very tough to deal with.
|
Zealot-warp-allin from 4 to 5 Gates.
Works most of the Time even if it gets scouted.
|
fml, 3 gate proxies are the exact reason I wall off my ramp with a forge in PvP.. if you don't scout it immediately, its usually too late.
|
DT rush
After you make your dts, expand, and then switch to mass army, switch back to dts, switch to expand, switch to mass army. Rinse and repeat.
Remember! When in doubt press k... I mean d.
EDIT: okay, didn't see the title that well, dt rush works great against zerg/terran. Well... considering current PvP is decided within the first 6 minutes, proxy 2gate! Punish those 4gates!

I feel like these kinds of threads belong in the strategy forum...
At any rate, yeah, PvP is so annoying, and I always want to cheese, but I avoid it simply because I don't feel like it'll make me a better player. Feels like 80% of people play P in high-level ladder, though, because I mostly get PvP in the matchup.
That aside, when I cheese, it's cannon rushing 90% of the time.

Yeah sorry. Since it was more of a whining/rage/QQ thread than anything too serous (although I am serious) I figured general was fine =/

Yup. Your Zeratul icon makes it okay though. Seeing a cool portrait is the best part of any PvP.
Better hope people dont see this thread and recognize my name on ladder and expect cheese XD

Everyone and their mother does this annoying build nowadays.
Me too.

I always seem to get into really fun prism wars. Immortals are sweet in PvP as well. Once in a while I'll go with zeolots and some cannons on my ramp/choke and that frees me to tech however I want. I like PvP, but I didn't at first either.
|
Pylon Gate Assimilator Gate (when the first gate is 80%) Cybernetics Core Pylon
Chrono out two Stalkers simultenously, the second gate and the cyber should finish at the same time. Follow up with more Chrono'd Stalkers.
The result is an extremely fun, really micro-intensive early game. I generally only lose with it if he skips Zealot and gets a Sentry out really quickly to FF his ramp. It can even beat 2gate openings if you manage your workers correctly and position your buildings to protect your Pylons - once you get 4 Stalkers you can kill an infinite number of Zealots.
Classy cheese.

What's been working really great for me is getting a pylon/gateway on 10 and race to get warpgates. Once you get 50 gas pull guys off of gas and just get 4 warpgates right when the warpgate tech finishes, then just spam pylons near/in his base. I win with it most of the time.

Since I made this thread, my only PvP has been on desert Oasis and I gas stole into Void Rays. Rofl.
Will be trying that, 2gate in base, etc and keeping tracks of their win percentage versus diamond level players.

Didn't he say he's sick of playing 4 gate vs 4 gate? So the last thing you should go, is to suggest the warp gate rush to him
1.) Proxy Double Gateway at 10 supply can be very, very annoying, you just run in there, snipe the pylon and it's gg. Though you have to make sure with your probe, that he isn't able to do a complete wall-off.
2.) Wall-off your ramp and do a fast voidray rush, nothing beats those guys in a base race
3.) Cannon rush, I guess?
4.) If you're able to get his first probe, a forge fast expand might do the trick, especially against an early zealot push.
About Dt's, I don't know, aren't they too late against a typical 4 gate?
|
I win almost all my PvP games. I don't waste time or money on warpgates and go for an early immortal. I make sure i have 2 sentries in my group and 1-2 stalkers along with however many zealots I have. Immortals will melt through stalkers and your sentry shields will keep you safe long enough to power down most of his army. After that, just keep moving in units as they finish until he calls uncle.

I don't think that will hold that well against the typical warp gate rush, most of the time you get rushed by zealots so immortals aren't exactly the best choice here, I guess you probably go for both gas, if you want to build early sentries, robo and an immortal, which means you're even more far behind. You shouldn't underestimate the timing, there is a reason why this build dominates PvP at the moment

lol expect a cheese because of username xD perhaps
|
You could wait a few more seconds and go Colosi instead of immortal if you expect high numbers of zealots. A Colosi will eat up some zealots.
|
Do cannon rushes work against 2gate proxy or 2gate in base?
