I feel like there should be some sort of "sticky" for the larger units with NP. Since other units can be right below them, those smaller units occasionally get selected instead of the colossi when I try to NP.
Anyone else experience this?

Against Protoss, you pretty much just counter Colossi with it, but Corruptor do a way better job because Colossi with range upgrade outrange your Infestor. Because nearly nobody ever uses mothership or carrier, it's also useless against them (AND Corruptor would be pretty much their direct counter too). If you go Mass roaches and your opponent counters with immortals, then it's kinda useful. Against Terran, i think it's a good spell if your opponent has thors but no tanks... and that rarely ever happens. With battlecruiser it's the same thing as with carrier and mothership. You're safer off with corruptor. Against zerg, Corruptor (or even Mutas) are also the obvious counter against Broodlords. Ultralisk are very rarely used and NP would be kinda nice against them! BUT if your opponent has an infestor too, he can simply just frenzy it, and remove the mindcontrol! So, i really don't see any usage for NP anymore since it comes later, costs minerals to upgrade and double the energy. | ||

I mean: it's a spell on a gigantic unit with paper thin armor that does absolutely nothing if said unit dies. And even though 9 range sounds like alot, every colossus/tank has 9 or more range. That basically makes your neural parasiting infestors frontline fighters... any player with half a brain can focus fire them down and now you're left fighting colossi or tanks with no unit to counter them. It's the equivalent of relying on psyonic storm when the opponent has nothing but ghosts. I remember in one of the old battle reports the infestors could cast NP while burrowed AND it was simply a 10s long spell regardless of whether the infestor dies or not. I can't think of any spell in any starcraft that was channeled like NP is. Makes the spell way to volatile to rely on in any way =( | ||

I'd say give NP as a baseline spell again (the 100 energy delays it enough) and then make this a hive upgrade for NP. It would definitely encourage hive play. Either way I think the infestor needs a powerful hive level upgrade to give the zerg the UMF they need in their hive play. Possibly make frenzy researched at hive, but AOE, or make a hive upgrade that makes units affected by FG fire 50% slower, or make an upgrade to corruptor's corruption to make the affected target fire 25% slower. | ||
