I was asked by the Starbow peeps to make an island map for SC2, so I did.

My complications primarily are with "what's a good number to limit players to without causing a ton of issues." Free three-base felt really boring, and 1 base felt like it gave one race advantages over others in certain matchups. This lead to my Reddit post regarding a new type of destructitble rock that would create paths. Unfortunately since I couldn't figure out how to make it myself nor would I wait for it to be made to publish the map, I went with using a Destructible Bridge doodad as well as the destructible rock ontop of it to get the closest I wanted with my result. I'm not sure if it's perfect, but it's close enough for now. If that feature is ever edited, this map will be changed accordingly.

Otherwise, the map is VERY distant, with the map heavily favoring air play and proper positioning for chokes, yet has room for regular play. Decorations are based off of Miyazaki's "Castle in the Sky", and the name in reference to the artist Devin Townsend.

I know it's an island map, but there is still a lot of dead space. I'm also not sure how the new mineral patches will work on an island map. Since bases run out faster, you need to expand faster as well, and that can be difficult to do on an island map. This map also have less bases than every map on the ladder except one.

I'd make sure to give all of the bases adequate room behind the mineral lines so that if they opt for some ground units, they can defend the mineral lines better.

I'm in love with all these crazy creative™ maps coming out at the moment.
The visuals are amazing in this one, can't really comment on gameplay, looks fun though

fits the criteria for a creative map & yeah i like the aesthetics too. Just concerned at the size of the main. At first glance it looks kinda small, trying to imagine building placement & what not.

Sorry, I honestly didn't read the info but only looked at the pictures. ;-) Very nice map. How would it play out without the destructible rocks ? I know it was meant to be an island map, but it could nice.

Good looking map. Beautiful. As a Zerg player I am wondering where I could ever get a decent surround on this map? It's got so many chokes and hallways all the way across, it almost reminds me of crossfire.

Please keep making maps though, its gorgeous and from what I recall the sc2 map editor is a pain in the ass. I don't see how anyone does stuff like this on it...

The map is by no means in the vision of what I wanted it to be. The weird bridges all around are placeholders until I can make what is in my head. In my head, there are bridges that can be created and then destroyed, giving you access to bases. However, the map is entirely air-favored, so the chokes and jagged lines of the map are there to only allow minimal ground support.
