Hi, guys. I hope, you have heard about Starcraft II Art tools: http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/blog/10788362/ I have a question: how do you think, is it possible to make such a mod to sc2, that will change units look - that will make sc2 units looking like units from another game - f.e. from WC3. The essence of sc2 will remain, only units will look another - f.e. instead of zealots will be grunts, instead of marines will be footmen etc. So it will be not a mod, but a new style of units look, that will allow you to play sc2, but you will see not sc2 units, but another. Is it possible to do, how do you think? And is it a good idea?

In the map editor you would go in modules/data, then in the actors tab (if it's not there click the + tab and add it) search for the unit you want to change the look of, like marine. If you're in detail view (click the button at the top) you'll see the 3d model and the path to the Marine.m3 file. So now the art tools let's you import this m3 file to 3ds max and export it back to sc2, or make a new one from scratch. I don't know if you can import the model from warcraft but I guess that's the case since it's an official tool. There are a ton of useful tips and tutorials on sc2mapster if you want to dig into this.

Yes you can!, the art tools is an incredibly powerful tool, if you let's say want to make a mario cart game you need to take an existent unit or create a new one from scratch, take your model of mario and open it in 3Ds Max 2011, edit what you may want to edit and then export it as a .m3 model, the import it with the editor and use it for your unit, it is a complex process but there are a ton of tutorials ans stuff in sc2mapster (these guys are awesome) as chuky said.
If it is a good idea it is up to you, the good this about doing stuff like that (even if it doesn't work) is that you learn how to use the editor and then you can make even crazier stuff with it.
