Glad this is finally kicking off! It'll be sweet to see how all the different maps play out. Unfortunately for me, I'll have work for most of the night, so a link to the VoD's once they're up would be awesome.

The Z33k page seems to imply that only 4 of the maps are being used...

edit: In the rules it says "Loser picks from map pool." So I don't think it was supposed to be BO1.

If more than 16 players enter the next round of games would be played on one of the other maps. Z33k's UI only shows matches for the current size . Loser picks from the map pool, so it is important to note that some maps may be used even though they are not currently listed!

The brackets show games though, but no replaaaayyysss I was unable to cast that night I got someone to do it but his stream and casting had really horrible quality. Next week we will have replays from every game played, and a good casting. If I can can find the time I will pull out win-rates for every map as well!
We should release a replay pack after the grand finals. Stay tuned a grand finals thread will be up soon!

I think replay pack is the most important part for mapmakers anyways (but for viewers and popularity of the tournament, casting and marketing is more important), good luck next week adn thank you for this week Hopefully prize pool will bring even better players.

I'll do that for you, at least for this month. I'll post it tomorrow morning (EST).
Edit: I will post an aggregation from all three tournaments to try and get enough games to draw conclusions.

WINRATES (Excluding mirror match ups) Somehow, there were a ton of mirror match ups in the tournament. Also, some maps were played significantly more than others. Bracket improvements will have to be made for the next tournament.
Braxis IX 6 games played TvZ 2-1 ZvP 2-1
Beelzebub 11 games played TvZ 1-1 PvT 2-1 ZvP 3-3
Quarantine Zone 9 games played TvZ 2-1 PvT 0-2 ZvP 2-2
Aiur Refuge 7 games played TvZ 2-1 PvT 0-1 ZvP 3-0
Silver Sands 6 games played TvZ 2-1 ZvP 2-1
Hurricane Harbor 11 games played TvZ 1-3 ZvP 4-3
Colonial II 2 games played TvZ 2-0
Odin 9 games played TvZ 1-0 PvT 0-1 ZvP 5-0
There were very few Terrans in the tournament.

after having watched some of the casts, the biggest issue was your lack of preparedness. constant issues with streaming, audio, etc. it would be prudent to have everything working before you start broadcasting. also, for the casting, i think a style that reflects more commentary on the maps themselves would be great, considering the nature of the tournament.
anyways thanks for doing this. hopefully the start of something good.

The issue is that neither velo nor I (and the other admins) have the upload bandwidth to stream. Typically the casts are done with a Skype call of the casters, or just whoever can do the stream. If someone could consistently stream this so we don't have to work out these issues each week it would be much appreciated. As for the casting, I agree completely. The brackets need improvement as well. In the future I hope to set the bracket up to minimize mirror match ups and also to use the maps more evenly so that all the mapmakers get good data from this. This is about them, after all.

I won't necessarily be able to do it all the time. When I start teaching in the fall I won't have as much time... We will see how that goes. Also I need remember to breath so I don't stammer so much. Just trying to help where I can.

Keep up the good work! Nice with matchup win ratio stats. It's from the final tournament though. I think also the zerg guys in the finals were pretty much better than the others? Which is why one shouldn't read that much into Odin ZvP 5-0 (or any of the stats really, even if it might give a hint)

Actually, the stats are from all the tournaments, but the majority of the games on each map were played during one of the tournaments (that's just how the brackets worked out.)

Just out of my curiosity -- how are you determining which maps to use? Is there an entry process for individual maps that requires application from the mapper?

Which is why one shouldn't read that much into Odin ZvP 5-0 (or any of the stats really, even if it might give a hint) I personally feel as if it's a bit early to be seriously looking at map win rates to infer anything, anyway. The only one that could be considered troublesome is the stat you point out: Odin ZvP 5-0. Even then, that's only if the trend continues, IMO.

Such a small sample size and there's the chance that the zergs in those 5 games were just much better players than the P. Need at least 15 games to say anything remotely definitive.

No we are just going through the maps on Teamliquid. If your map is not there I would suggest making a thread if you haven't already.

Need at least 15 games to say anything remotely definitive. One of the big problems was the protosses didn't realize there was a back door to their nat, and didn't wall off metalapolis style. If those games were replayed there would most likely be big difference in win rates.

Another thing to remember about the zvp stats on Odin is that two of the victories were a failed nexus cancel 4 gate and a failed DT rush.
