*NEWS! NEWS! NEWS!* 1.1 is released with 2 awesome new minigames! *NEWS! NEWS! NEWS!*
Raynor Party is a collection of frantic minigames for up to 8 players where each player competes to be crowned King of the Party. They range in style and pace from the twitchy Hungry Hungry Ultralisk to the strategic, methodical Edmund Duke's Jungle Warfare. Watch the above video to see them in action if you haven't already, or read the following descriptions to get yourself hype!
-------------------------------- Singularity Showdown -------------------------------- You control a ghost- a top scientist working directly under Jim Raynor at the Harvard Institute of Astrophysics. Each ghost is in a state of quantum entanglement with one vortex allowing you to direct the path of your vortex- use this power to KILL PEOPLE. "Quick, swallow them up in your vortex, gobble them up, ayum yum yum!" -Lorde Igmund de la Fish, Esq. --------------------------------
Rocket Buggy Rumble -------------------------------- Shoot rockets with your Rocket Buggy! You can move while shooting so stay on the move- pick up the Power Pear to launch an additional special rocket, the Acceleration Apple to speed yourself up or the Stealth Strawberry to be concealed. "I'ma blow you up with my iced-out modded hellion, don't mess with the best. G UNIT" -50 Cent, Assistant to Prof. Raynor. --------------------------------
Edmund Duke's Jungle Warfare -------------------------------- Use your siege tank and observer to outwit opponents- positioning and patience are key. "In a dense jungle, nutrition is king. Never has this been more true than for Edmund Duke, during his brief stint on Bel'Shir, where he developed a love for bananas. Follow in his footsteps by being the first to chomp down on those tasty potassium-filled treats." -Jacobi Henderson, historian.
Tassadar Teaches Typing -------------------------------- Improve your 1v1 ladder play by practicing typing words and phrases from the original Starcraft and Brood War script, all the lines are in there! "Actions Per Minute are directly proportional to Words Per Minute! We cannot guarantee you will improve to diamond level as a result of playing this minigame." -The Great Tassadar May He Rest in Peace
Marauder Free Radio -------------------------------- Compete with opponents to avoid artillery fire and scupper them with concussive shells. "Marauders marooned in a maroon desert. Somebody needs to phone home and tell the General to stop shelling the surrounding area but nobody seems to want to do it!" -Tychus "Vandelay" Findlay
Hungry Hungry Ultralisk -------------------------------- You control a stalker; avoid being left holding the pineapple as the ultralisk crashes around this old temple. "The banana is to the siege tank as the pineapple is to the ultralisk. This old proverb has been known for years, but in this minigame you will learn that it is equally profound and true." -F. Scott Fitzgerald
Baneling Pain Fling -------------------------------- You control a sentry, avoid the banelings and use forcefields to redirect their flow into your opponents. "Aaah!! Banelings!!!!! Everywhere, banelings! Run away, quickly, use force fields to block the entrances..... They're coming from all sides!! Retreat, retreat. They're closing in on Rupert.... use a force field to block his escape! Mwahaha." -Sentry #43
Lurker Rally: Extreme -------------------------------- You control a lurker, hide underground to avoid the enemies and race to the end- quick as you can, now; chop chop! "Ayumyum, I eat marines like you for breakfast! This sure is extreme!" -A friendly lurker
En Taro Kaboom -------------------------------- You control a Dark Templar; use his powerful psionic abilities to launch opponents off the cliffs. "I ain't played a game this darn-tootin' since I lived on the pig farm back on Aiur, yeehaw! Knock them scallawags off the temple quick smart or I'll take my belt to you, boy!" -Zeratul
Raynor's Rangers: ... Hidden Dangers -------------------------------- Lay traps with your marine while avoiding walking into opponent's traps! The objective is to reach the opposite beacon while not getting blown up. Use various traps to launch enemies into dangerous situations or propel yourself to victory. "Oh no! My rangers appear to have gotten themselves into some danger.... some hidden danger!" -Professor J. Raynor, Harvard Institute of Astrophysics --------------------------------
Thanks for reading; please try our map by searching for "Raynor Party" worldwide and let us know what you think- also attempt to solve the minigame within a minigame of finding each crow. There is one hidden in every level! Shout outs to the Goatshow, Clan Towa/Brotoss and Clan MoMM.
I loved it but i think it needs more mini games and the typing game shouldnt kill you for error straight away but minus your hp to half and if u get the fastest you can heal yourself.
played the tassadar game, it was me vs some guy with everyone else eliminated, the sentences were getting longer. next line : some really long line about the UED that is partially covered by the score screen, nerd part of my brain memorizes the line from SC:BW, and types out the covered words. other guy stumbles and everyone goes OMG LOL. gold :D
keep up the good work, that arena thing with the knockbacks is great too! - SEA as well
It's great to hear you're enjoying our game! I just wanted to bump the thread in order to tell you a big update, version 1.1 is in the works, with a few new minigames and lots of small changes to address the issues you have raised!
Blinn i love your game i've been playing alot since SEA has no other fun games around.
these are the changes that i recommend:
1. hungry hungry ultralisk, the elascity is really different from war3.. this is not as fun as the war3 one. the map needs to be bigger. aswell and elasticity GREATLY increase 2. marauder game - cool down needs to be faster to make it more fun.. and maybe a accelerate skill or Reflect skill. 3. Siege tank, needs a drop banana skill or some kind of bonus where u get the banana to fake banana pick up and run away and siege.. right now everyone just camp, who goes for banana first to die. 4. Entaro kaboom, by far the most fun game ever and skillful, but as they gang on the pros its not as fun, the wall on the 4 sides need to be wider, and also it should be able to blink while on air to make it more skillfull. *important* 5. Typing error shouldnt kill you straight but minus hp, getting the fastest should heal you back up.
There needs to be game that requires manual aiming, i think its one of the most addictive mini games ever in war3 where ppl manual aim and kill each other like archery and grenade throwing games etc.
in SEA server its quite popular since sea is so boring lol. but its getting bored. needs more variety.
ALL THESE CHANGES RECOMMENDED IS TO INCREASE THE SKILL PLAY FROM EACH GAME
To be honest, I really dont like the score system. The winner shouldnt get 1 for winning and others are left with 0. The reason Uther Party was awesome was because the score system was fluid and friendly with newer players. Please fix this
I don't know if you have space in your map but I made a pretty cool mini-game that won SC2mapster's mini-game contest. Check it out and send me a message on SC2mapster if you're interested.
i would like to see a change in the lobby, so you have one whole team instead of 8 different ones. That makes it easier for a party to join one game. But this minigames are pretty nice. Love them all, except tassadar writing, i would change it to some kind of creeps jungle hunting, where the creeps have names over them, and bigger creeps give more points. Hunting creeps is more fun than to copy a text.
Thanks for a neat minigame, it's rather awesome! I can imagine it depends much on the players - I can atleast tell it's extremely fun to play with some guys from the clan (while voicechatting). Loads of laughs and competition. Too bad the Battle.net system sucks for promoting games like this. It's never played on the EU. NOONE joins my game when I host it publically. Too bad.
Anyway, I'll comment the minigames briefly. I also think it'll be awesome if/when you incorporate more games (it's a tad boring to replay the same games over and over during ONE round of playing, which occasionally happens).

Siege-Tank game: Awesome, probably my favorite. Very good terraining. Need to make it (potentially) faster though, maybe by adding more pickuppable fruits in the form of speed-boost, vision-range boost or invurnerability. Alternatively by replacing the observer with a Medivac, but I don't think that'd be good.
Typing game: Awesome! My best game. However, it is too skill-reliant and too little random/competition-dependant. I type very fast, so I win almost every time. Adding more complicated words (for misspelling) may or may not be a good idea to "solve" the problem. Making typing-fast matter might also be cool. For example you could move forward X yards if you type in Y seconds, and when you reach the goal you win. If you type something wrong, you get smacked by thunder. Making people able to sabotage somehow may be difficult to implement. Maybe add math-numbers in the style of Nexus Word Wars, to make it more difficult for speed-typers like myself? Another suggestion is to reduce the amount of non-existing spellings, such as "ive" for "I've", and instead make it read "I have". Anyway, I'd say KEEP THIS GAME, it's fun for everyone, especially those who do type fast
Marauder game: Actually one of the more boring games. A bit slow, a bit random, and not so competative (= you don't get to annoy your opponents so much). I suggest adding stimpack, at the cost of health (maybe so you can only stim two times)? Maybe also some random element, like zerglings appearing at smoe points. Dunno.
Hungry Hungry Ultralisk: No comments, I suck but it is quite fast and energic.
Baneling Pain Fling: Awesome, probably the "best game objectively". The Force-Field-"bugs" only make it more interesting. Dunno if it'd be cooler, but I atleast hoped that the nukes would actually be real nukes. As they are now, they are a bit too little scary, but they are interesting.
Lurker Rally: Pretty interesting actually. I wouldn't mind seeing some kind of other ability if someone can come up with a suitable one. Maybe some kind of Fungal Growth (shorter duration, long cooldown, smaller AoE - either no damage or no stealth reveal?) >.< The destructible rocks are awesome, and balanced. It's a fun game.
En Taro Kaboom: Fun, skillful, but annoying. It's so easy to get "ganed", and so few places to hide and so little to do about it. It's okay though. Just for the sake of it, I'll add a suggestion of one ability: Wind walk (like in WC3) of some sort. That is, a very short (2 sec) invisibility buff, on let's say 15s cooldown.
Raynor's Rangers: The most boring game. Unfortunatly. Too big map, too random, too little skill. The blocks that push away the marine are cool though, I like when people abuse them to launch themselves to safety. Suggestions: Shorten the trap-laying time, give marines stimpack. Buff Broodling trap.
Random game suggestions:
Viking game: You control one viking. You can lift, land and some other abilities (I'll give a few ideas). Mobs come in straight lines from the top to the bottom (think "space invaders") - banelings and scourge (flying suicide units). You must avoid dying. Ability suggestions: Jetpack (temp speed boost - maybe only while flying). Concussive Grenade (maybe ground-to-air only, an AoE or targetted slow that you can use to slow your opponents or maybe also enemies).
Ghost game: You enter an arena (maybe like a forest with some vision restriction, much like the tank arena, but smaller) with the mission to kill your opponent(s). You have Cloak, Snipe and EMP to your disposal - eventually some extra ability. The goal of the game is to either eliminate all opponents or pick up a fruit (or nuke a building?). Other suggestions include pick-upable fruits that regenerate energy over time, or allow you to detect invisible units for a while. Hint: Alter the energy cost of EMP (lower it), and make it only remove a low amount of energy - its' primary use will be stealth detection.
High Templar game: You play as a High Templar with lowered movement speed. Storm is on a cooldown but without mana cost. Feedback is altered to a short-range ability that reduces movement speed (or something else). You all play in an arena where (X unit - I suggest zerglings without speed) come from different directions. You must survive. Feedback may be used on opponents. Storm is primarily for defending yourself against zerglings, but also deals damage to other High Templars. Other suggestion for ability: Archon-form, gives a temporary movement speed boost aswell as a shield.
Queen game: There are X hatcheries on the battlefield, and you must inject one or die. If it doesn't sound too complicated - each queen moves slowly, but you also have a speedy overlord that drops temporary creep under itself - even while moving, and when it has moved to another area. Additional abilities may include Creep Blocker (instead of Creep Tumor) that places an AoE "no-creep" tumor that removes creep around it. Maybe Queens can also attack opponents' overlords - in that case, I suggest adding Transfusion. To clarify: The Hatcheries spawn each X seconds at random areas of the map (which should have some kind of "interesting" terrain), and it's "last-player to inject loses". I dunno?
Now I ran out of imagination, if I get some feedback on these suggestions I may add more. I am also interested in actually cooperating in a way or another on the Raynor Party project, since I find it interesting.
M8, we have played this map for years and now we are getting bored of these maps. IT DOES definetly need more minigames! btw. its awesome. Just more games on it! I've won 4 kebabs from naama, 2 from elfi, 1 from seinis. Great way to get food!
Blinn, this game is awesome! It's like the uther party for sc2, except a whole lot better! All the play modes are extremely diverse, and it feels very professional/polished.
Three questions: Are there going to be more play modes? How long does it go? And can we shorten the games?
I've played several times, but I've never actually finished a game. People tend to leave prematurely when they realize there is no way they are going to catch up. Personally, I like the idea of a "first to 5" victory condition or something to that effect.
I want to play this on EU but no one joins when you create a game
The custom map system is just bringing 'terrible' to a whole new level. I checked and I had to press "more" 15 times before I found Raynor Party. People are basically never going to find out about this map on EU no matter how awesome it is. The only way would be to get the word out somehow so that the map rises in popularity (I doubt anyone checks beyond the first 2 pages).
This is pretty awesome. Uther Party was such a classic lan environment fun game and this is really good, even if we are limited to play it online only.

Hey I'm originally from South Africa! It warms my heart to know it's being played down there.
Also, I believe the host is able to choose between Tournament Mode / Free Play when creating the game- in Tournament Mode it plays the games and the first person to 5 points wins, while in Free Play a person is randomly selected and they choose the next game. We're looking into changing the scoring system to allow special bonuses, for example getting 10 points for winning En Taro Kaboom but getting 1 point per kill and maybe 3 for a double kill?
More games are coming and let me tell you they will be awesome, as well as Raynor's Rangers being redesigned to be more fun.
Yeehaw!
Edit: oh the song on the video is called Madness in G Minor by Hermitude. That info is also in the video's description.
yeah, yeah, yeah! it's the coder guy of this map checking in. sweet to see this featured somewhere at last~

this is correct; however! blizzard unaccountably decided that the "join game" system should separate different categories of the same map in the list and then lock created games to the category in particular (the host cannot change it). thus, the Tournament mode (first to 5) is popular on SEA but on the US they picked the Free Play mode to feature so that's all you can play.
seriously they add all these cool features like custom game categories and options and then actively discourage their use by making them terrible. the only way you can choose the mode is by manually creating the game yourself. I probably have a way to fix this for 1.1 but I don't know what it'll do to the popularity
Hey! Update from EU: It's popular. I think it was at page 2 with 200 games/hour last time I checked, and people joined in fast and enjoyed playing. However, I think you really have to add more games now, soon. People might otherwise get bored of an awesome game concept.
I like the idea of alternative scoring system, but I'd say focus on the new games for a start.
I played this once, and i noticed there was a certain spot in the Baneling Pain Fling where you could constantly forcefield and be completely protected from banelings. I will get a pic up as soon as i get to play again.

Doesn't really matter, since you'll be a sitting duck for people wanting to pop you out of your hiding place (using forcefields).

I think you have to thank HD for that , he made a video about the map on his channel ,that's why its popularity raised in europe.
gratz for the map, i'v tryed a lot of custom and this is the best one so far.. the quality is very high, i think its near what i m expecting from blizzard custom maps!
minigames are a lot of fun, i've just played 1 h, and so far the only suggestion is to add to the zealot minigame math expressions
so far i love all minigames, i have 2 that i love less zealot) i would love more if u can add math expression and maybe vary something
I think you should put the music from the video into the map. It'd add a lot of fun atmosphere to the game, and it would be a big improvement over the default SC2 music.
dude this is one of the best UMS maps i've ever played (that includes most of the BW ums maps). real props and thanks to the creators of the map - the map is awesome and so are you. can't wait to play the next map you guys make.
and i agree w/ quoth, a tasteful selection of music would be a nice addition.

zealot game: u are too focused playing the game, with the chat spam above the zealots, u cant tell easly when u lose. maybe a text message in the middle of the screen saying that u are dead . if its possibile, move the cam down, so zealots are not under the chat spam, and maybe disable chat for dead players..
all games: the nickname constantly visible above the unit would be nice, so u can distinguish easly between players in game..
are u guys planning to add minigames or realease new versions of the game?

There is already a map with similar concept remade from WC3 called Starlocks. It's basicly this with more options.
Hey y'all, little Dewelopment update to keep you on your toes! Version 1.1 is on its way with a few new minigames on the way and an improvement to Raynor's Rangers!
Here's a screenshot of the new game in testing (one of my personal favourites so far!)
New games means a size reduction is necessary, so I'm remaking all the banners to be sleaker, nice and more minimalist, here's what that looks like!
Click on each image to expand to full size, yeehaw!
Awesome game man, love playing it. Not as much of a fan of the tank one and the marine one though. On the tank one, the optimal play is to camp which when done correctly is really boring. In the marine one, I find the traps really really hard to see. If you make them a little bit more clear, I think that'd help quite a bit. Right now it seems very random.

Uh, you mean Warlocks right? OT: Can't wait for new mini-games... So sick and tired of playing the typing one lol, freaking everyone picks that cause they have like 120wpm and all they care about is winning -_-
No one plays marauder free radio or the bananas one enough :[
Cheers for the update, glad to hear something is happening! It also seems like you go with the "quality over quantity" approach with "only" one new minigame up til now (?), but that's okay. More minigames will always be better up to a limit of maybe 16 minigames.
I also like the sizereduction and slim banners - may I suggest to (if possible) not display the banner at the middle of the screen? Maybe at the top, but still with the "instructions" readable?
Also we been busy with school and stuff; you know how it is. For a while I was somewhat disheartened about updating it because nobody was playing it but with the NA feature and the HDGamer video people are playing it, so that eliminates that problem.
There's at least 2 new minigames planned for 1.1, plus the rebalancing/fixing of Raynor's Rangers! Get hype~

yeah Blinn is basically a whiny emo cock so that's why we didn't get started til now on this super new version! I apologise for his rudeness!!

we're definitely going for quality over quantity. as Blinn says there's gonna be at least 2 new games in the new version but we don't want to have any games that are too similar to each other or any games lacking hijinks and scuppering

blizzard ranking system is to blame! dont ever think the map is not played because is bad.. i simply didnt know the map ever exist, because it was on page X
I love this map so much, I just wanted to say thanks to the creators. You guys are awesome! I appreciate all the work that you have put into this project, and look forward to future developments!
1.1 is coming so soon I'm about to burst with excitement! The marine game has been redesigned and I can reveal that the two new games are complete and are named as follows:
at first I only liked playing the sentry one..... but now I LOVE (almost) ALL OF EM!!!!! : ) keep up the good work...... One of my fav custom games to chill and relax!!!
If you're taking suggestions for more minigames, I've got one. Even if you don't implement my minigame exactly, I think it would be cool to see a minigame that contains the main points of interest I've listed at the end.
A Colossus will chase each of the players, who each control an Infestor. Each player is chased along their own individual path or a common path which is quite coiled by ground but is fairly easy for the Colossus to scale using its cliff-walk ability. Infestors each have 10 energy, with Infested Terran costing 1 energy and Fungal Growth costing 5 energy. Fungal Growth does not deal damage, but simply slows. Infested Terrans do not deal damage, but just turn into something inanimate (such as a fruit?). The real purpose of the Infested Terrans is to allow the Infestor to interact with remote things, such as beacons off the path that require Infested Terrans to spawn on them to activate, or Xel'Naga watch towers that can be activated for certain effects. There can be obstacles that need the right beacons to be activated before they are removed. Whoever reaches the end first or survives the longest wins.
Main points of interest: - Interacting with objects using Infested Terran - Running from a slower common enemy. Getting screwed due to "other" reasons. - Screwing over other players using Infested Terrans/Fungal Growth. - Need incentive to work together at some points (such as a large gate that opens faster with more Infested Terran spawned onto a beacon), but the point is to be the last one alive. - Special powerups that require extra effort to acquire but give the player an edge (restore energy, cast Fungal growth on all enemy Infestors, morph into Ultralisk temporarily allowing player to break down gates by force).
Great custom map for sure, but I don't think the raven/marine minigame is great as it depends too much on luck. What are the changes planned for the beta?
Likewise agreed it's the best UMS out there. The main issue is relatively small amount of games, which eats the playtime quite a bit. Also the raven/marine map ain't my cup of tea. Otherwise the minigames are really fun, very Uther-like and among the best at such. If minigame amount would be added to amount where you necessarily don't play same game twice in 8ppl game, now that'd feel truly versatile.
uh oh! version 1.1 is up on EU will be up on SEA and US as soon as my helpful correspondents get their emails. thanks guys! also thanks to all the nice folk who showed up to help test it
abridged changelog + new games singularity showdown and rocket buggy rumble + raynor's rangers: hidden dangers significantly redesigned + new scoring system
1.1 is nice. I have a lot of fun with this game. The marine redesign is great. I also enjoy rocket buggy. However, singularity showdown is pretty meh. Pretty slow and running away from big vortexes isn't all that engaging. It gets especially boring when down to the last 2.
On December 13 2010 22:32 Stoids wrote: However, singularity showdown is pretty meh. Pretty slow and running away from big vortexes isn't all that engaging.
Give yourself a chance to play around with the depth of it- there's a lot of fun to be had juking people and tricking them with your vortex. Another tactic I use quite frequently is to run behind my own vortex as it moves away from me- this pull gives you additional speed and you can often "surf" your vortex to get yourself out of trouble.
a time limit for the marine game would be nice, we had a game where hundred of mines were laying around the goal aswell as some error which didnt allowed me to use my own jumppads. some error in gt_createtrap or some function.

This. Had a game which lasted about 20 minutes with mines making the goal completely inaccessible.
Congratulations on the last updates, I really love the new points system.
By the way, I noticed yesterday that the map is Featured on EU, which means tons of new players. Please don't own them too fast, let them learn and they shall join the Party !
its featured in eu, but with free mode only games. so it will bore all new players after a short time, since they cant achieve anything in the game. its like a sc2 map with indestructable buildings.

I just stumbled across this when I was watching a stream this morning. I can't wait to go home and play it, looks fantastic for those times when u have numerous friends on.... and when u've had numerous beers :p
Featured in SEA now, its pretty darn awesome. It'll be so good to play this game after it has alot more maps. (Like uthers party) However, I dont know whats the point of the debries shortcut in the lurkers game, cus everyone just takes the shortcut and the person behind gets left the dust lol.

This is my favorite game of the lot, and I have to say the concept could be expanded into a standalone custom game with possible team play elements and even a variety of different unit Pairs for a player to control (Or even factions with unique units and abilities). Upgraded Overlord + Queen for creep tumor sight and a long ranged AA with the ability to heal their support. Upgraded Roach + Phoenix, Ultralisk + Medivac, etc.
the "marine"-game is broken and can get to a state were all the traps makes it impossible to finish. More then once this has happened and all have just had to leave the game.
I love you guys for making this map. It's awesome, it's a party, it's one of the best UMS maps I've played in BW and SC2 combined. I played for 4 hours the first time I played, no joke.
You guys are a bunch of awesome, kick-ass guys :D I can't wait for you guys to make more <3
how'd this go from top featured on US to no one playing? i try to host many games but no one hardly joins....i have to make my friends play it. it was so extremely popular..
On December 30 2010 15:12 dazzled wrote: where can i download this if it's not featured?
go to create and search for raynor party. or go to join and its a few pages down. Get your friends to join. So lame that it went from featured to nothing within a day. zealot frenzy and poker blah is lame
So many times we have been stuck at this game because it's not well-designed, it's so easy to make it impossible to win. Atleast set a time limit. But this is seriously Raynor Party's greatest flaw. In my opinion, the Raven/Marine game was way more fun.
imho the funniest ones are the stalker, the zealot and the hellion. Marine and siege tank especially are kinda 'meh'. I've won like 10 marine games in a row, just through running the guy over across the map, since none has a clue what to do lol. Great game and lots of fun!
On January 07 2011 07:10 lynx.oblige wrote: I'm assuming you mean when a marine gets thrown out of the map? You can use the medivac to bring it back to the starting position...
Of course, but it's at cooldown. Now that wouldn't be a problem if it wasn't so difficult to get like 10m from the start. What I means is that since traps are unlimited (or on cooldown) it will pretty soon go into an almost-stalemate-mode, and at that point lose all fun. Also, having to wait for 2nd and 3rd player = not so fun.
I must however say that a few players do find it fun.

yeah i spent 10 seconds reading the description, and I launched myself off the map, and lost.
What I want is a standalone custom game based on the tank game, perhaps even a team based variant where multiple players choose "Pairs" of units that compliment each other in some way with a capture the flag aspect. For example, Thor and Phoenix to allow the Thor to use the anti-air long ranged attack against say a siege mode siege tank, has superior scouting mobility but can't spot cloaked units... perhaps even disable shared vision to make communication amongst team mates important. Ghost + Viking can decloak enemies for their allies and can take advantage of an ally using the Phoenix/Thor pair, but can get wrecked by Infestor/Roach if they aren't careful... which is itself hit pretty hard by say Observer/Siege Tank.
Its on page 2 or 3 now... Unless its updated, it will be popular again and hopefully featured, and thus removing less creative maps for better ones like these.
For FPS, i know that someone is making a DOOM version where its a on-rail shooter, still in developement since.. september if i remembered correctly.
Side scrollers got old pretty quick, i tried one and i got bored already... sometimes these unique maps has a great idea, but they aren't really executed well.
If those maps were made by a team of people, like the WoS(check the link), then it could very be the next best thing on the customs maps. No doubt that will be featured if published and in playable stage.
Also, for FPS lovers, stay updated with the new TPS shooter Vector. Its by the maker of that ac100(i forget the name but its a zombie ruin shooter, ring a bell?)
I think this is definitely one of the top10 custom games in SC2 at he moment, and I had a blast playing it in the previous version! However, I finally made an account here to post about a serious bug preventing me and my friends from playing the new version.
The minigame Singularity Showdown causes a disconnect EVERY TIME I or my friends enter that minigame. The clearest thing we have in common is we all use Mac OS X, but I can't think of any reason why a bug would be specific to Mac OS X, since the game code is 100% the same. Could you please look into this? I also think the previous version of the Marine minigame was perhaps better...
Might need a bit of tweaking but this is just amazing fun for LAN, I still play some old WC3 customs with my friends due SC2 still lacking quite many ports and goodies. One of them being pudgewars advanced... on our last LAN event we had some random people come and spectate it due the amount of laughter that was going on.

We had a mac guy discing out of the ghost game (dunno if that's the one you're talking about) as well.
On the Marine game : Could be fixed by simple means (I think Seiken and Blinn have probably already come around it though) :
- Setting a "Safe Zone" near the start and the end area where no trap can be dropped. (On the actual version you can drop jump traps on the respawn location and make it last forever)
- Destroying traps on use (Two per jump trap, for example)
- Set a maximum number of instances for each type of trap
Still having so much fun playing it though, keep up the good work and the updates coming !

Yeah, it's the same minigame. Perhaps it is a Mac OS X specific bug after all, although I have never experienced a Mac OS X specific bug in SC:BW / WC3:TFT / SC2 custom game before this...
This is the funnest custom game out there! Screw the hour long desert strike! Raynor Party Minigames ftw.!... Whenever I create a game, only few people join - or none. If you want to play this, add me: jungleboy.966
I love this game so much! It was featured recently on SEA server so there were quite a few people playing it. It's awesome with 8 people, stuff like entaro kaboom is really hectic with people blinking and psionic waving everywhere! Any news on possible new updates, a few more minigames would be awesome.
any updates coming? If you dont' could you give this map to someone else, i mean its fucking great and finnish players like fuzer naama elfi satiini are loving to play it...
or if you don't have time at the moment you can contact me so i would fix the map for you. just do something because we love to play your map and it is unplayable at the moment.
just joined the posting community today to give props to this game loved uther party in wc3 just wish there were more than just the sc2 models in this map would really make it stand out
I still play this game quite a bit, it's a shame the Hellion, DT and Marine mini-games are all bugged. Especially the DT and Hellion 1 really could use some bug fixes.
Seriously, I miss it too. Raynor party used to be the worlds best thing to play after a heavy ladder session. And now its ruined, and whats wrong with the baneling models in the force field game? Is it bugged for you as well? They dont look like banelings to me..
Hm do you guys realise that people cant just edit/fix the map? Most maps on Battle.net are locked by the author and nobody can change that except the author himself.
To edit/fix the map, you would need the original map file which is probably only existing on the computer of the author. Believe me if all maps where just downloadable and editable and we would have alot more abandoned maps remade.
So the only way to get this map working again is to contact the original author and ask him for the mapfile. I did this with 2 maps in the past and i mostly found the contact data by googling his name etc. So yeah if anyone can find him and get the mapfile then post here
In that case scrap the tank game, the marine game and maybe the ghost game, nobody wanted to play those ever. Focus on Hungry Hungry Ultralisk and En Taro Kaboom, best minigames fo sure.

Gooo Fulla! =)
I agree with tank & marine, but ghost can be a lot of fun.
Marauder is also great, albeit a bit luck-dependant, but don't re-add typing. Noone likes it except for people that will win it 99% of the time.
Personally, I didn't mind the tank game. The ghost one was kinda annoying, and the typing one was just pointless. You couldn't play it with a group of friends, because you'd always know who will win, as I've learned from much experience.
The main priority is fixing the Hellion and DT games, they were huge losses for the game.
I've tried getting in contact with the lead and co-makers of this map, and they've seemingly vanished. I found their website, personal emails, even phone numbers, but getting in touch with them has just been impossible. To make things worse, this map is completely private, so the only option is to start from scratch.
this is awesome! love the pyramid escape style games. if someone could port pyramid escape to sc2 that would be awesome too. in the meantime, time to play this with my mates
On February 26 2012 01:37 Fulla wrote: Any ideas to make Hungry Hungry Ultralisk a bit refreshing/exciting?
Maybe add some new elements to it!!!
You could add a third ability that does something like reduces target stalkers movement speed or makes them unable to blink just for 1-2 seconds for those who try to time dodges
I'm sure it'd be one of the top if it actually worked. It's impossible to play this by joining custom as the settings are autochosen, meaning it'll randomly pick each level, so it's bound to get Hellion or DT after a few games, which never end because of the bugs. The only way to play it now is with a group of friends and change the settings to manual pick.
@Crystax - Nice to see anticipation of the project it motivates me alot.
Perhaps it would be best for me to make a separate thread where we can list games wanted? So far I just have Hungry hungry ultralisk and 'the hellion one'.
I've been quietly working on remaking Hungry Hungry Ultralisk, going good so far. Once I have that finished, I can release a BETA with that + 4 of my own games.
First version will be a bit 'beta' like, as in still a bit rusty round the edges. But if you guys up for testing and giving feedback I'll keep at it with continuous updates.
Idd, the DT one was incredible. I was getting used to the Hellion game not working, but when the DT one went down, it started getting pretty boring. Let me know if you want help testing, Fulla.
Anything a user can do to help this along? Id love to play, but when i tried was too buggy. (like the hellion one you cant attack, so you have to quit the game)
This game is easily the most fun custom game out there, in my opinion. Shame the DT and Hellion games are bugged.
I would absolutely love for this game to be picked up by the original creators or some other skilled map maker in order to fix the bug and expand the number of mini games.

Sounds good ?
You should team up with the original creators and add your 4 new games to the orginal. All this game needs is some bug polish and it'll soon gain popularity!

Original creators seem to have vanished. Spent a while trying to get in contact with them. They've had nothing to do with TL in over half a year, one of them's even been banned. They also have their own forum for game design or something, I forget now, but they haven't been active on that for months either.
This was such a good custom map. I played it a lot when others did.. now its kinda dead.. I found it on the list a month ago or so, but now it has just dissapeared.. reopen it!! This rocks!
Hey. We just published a new version with bugs fixed & new minigames on EU at least (does anyone know if I still need to publish separately on other regions?)
It's under the name "Raynor Party: Revival". Sorry to keep everyone waiting so long One thing is it'd be nice if you could say whether the ghost game still drops mac players cause I don't know anyone on a mac & can't test it

Bust out the champagne everybody! It's the return of the mack.
I hope you can forgive us for not updating the map for such a long time, but hopefully this new version makes up for it. We'd really appreciate feedback on all the games, functionality and bugwise.

fuck yeah!! going to do a custom night as soon as my computer gets back from repairs :D
I played this all the time on my mac until you added Singularity Showdown. That particular minigame caused my computer to crash TT Do people still play this game?

could you please tell me if it still crashes today in the new version (you'll know it's new version if it includes immortal + medic games)! thanks
This is so much fun, it seems you dont pick the games anymore though, its just random. Just got a game going but never got to play the DT which is for sure the best :D
The new Immortal game seemed fun and so was the medic one. So well done on that front!

Thanks for the comments. you can in fact pick the minigames if you choose the "free play" mode instead of tournament mode (which is the default)!
Its bugged pretty hard on NA.... only tried once and both the rocket and the templar one were messed up. Templars only shot straight up and the buggy one wouldnt shoot the fruit...

that's the old bugged verison it should be fixed now. (the bugs were introduced by blizzard changing the way stuff worked for no apparent raisin)
Played it several times, really fun but it ends way to fast if there is someone who gets lucky / really good and wins a lot, I think 60 points would be better, just so you wont have to enter so many lobbies when u want to play the game.
About the new mingames, I love the immortal but dislike the medic, it is annoying since being in the corner is the best option atm, which makes it bad at least for me, also there is bug where if u r in the corner a nydus can spawn that blocks u inside the corner, untouchable by the lings. Another game, although ti is old, is the marines, which is really annoying and unclear, I think you should consider to change it or remove it in favor of a better mingame.
On September 11 2012 01:33 grand`seiken wrote: oh I'll fix that medics bug thanks for the report
on the other hand I'm afraid marines is one of the most fun games just nobody seems to have any idea how to play it because they are bad!
Maybe make it more clear? like what radius can u launch the mines / things that push you? right now it just feels random.
EDIT: there is a bug, when someone leaves the game, it still spawns units for them each round, that should be fixed since it can make free kills and just overall annoying.

you can launch them anywhere, on the whole arena, that's why it's fun, try to put a trap right in front of the guy miles away and time it just right!!
thanks for bug report also. another weird thing that worked before and broke without me changing anything?? cheers blizzard

Yeah after playing it more I find fun now (I have played over 30 games since last comment), but some things are weird, like mines take a LOT of time to get to the other side of the map, while the jumpy things are instant I think. Aldo it seems there are places where you can't put the mines down, which I guess is a bug as well. Lastly the broodling trap is really useless, since it takes way to long to kill you, maybe make it a slow trap?
Okay, heres a big one. I think im not alone here if i tell that ive binded patrol to Q , for ladder... in 3 minigames the important button is on Q and i cant use it because I binded patrol on Q... Can you do something for it?

Awesome, bookmarked! We used to play this on funmap night, but eventually after all the patches it stopped working. So glad its back, thanks a lot.
On September 24 2012 01:13 Leviance wrote: I don't like the medic one... ah well the more games the better I guess. btw Are there plans to keep adding new minigames?
well, nobody's gonna like every minigame but we try to make them all a little different. we may well add new ones but gotta have good ideas for ones that aren't just duplicates or no fun or 1-dimensional
awesome mini game - absolutely love it, ever since it came out years ago. however, whoever made the map, please listen to a few suggestions that will make it the best mod ever!
1. Votes at the start of the game for first to 40,60, 80 or 100. 40 often isnt enough and most players i play vs want more! 2. DT game - sooo good, but needs a timer. after a period of time either the attacks should get stronger or the map smaller. or maybe powerups appear in risky areas near the edge. risk vs reward. 3. Lurker game - one of my favourites, but maybe the track could be extended to a bit longer? 4. Tank map is great - but sometimes a noob gets really lucky and goes straight to banana and home. maybe a slightly slower tank (slower than now) when they have banana. but after 2/3/ mins of play, getting the banana no longer makes you slow (to prevent people sitting doing nothing in the late game) 5. hellions - great other than the invisibility should last 5seconds longer 6. marines - pretty crazy and luck based when theres 8 players. dont know how to make it better, but i feel it needs improvement 7. immortal - credit to the maker for adding 2 new games, but the immortal game is weak. i suggest something using the raven. i think that would definitely have potential. maybe some kind of missile turret maze to race through or something 8. sentry, ghost, zealot, medic, marauder and stalker are awesome as they are 9. Some games give 8 for a win, 4 for a 2nd and 2 for a 3rd. some games dont seem to have the same scoring system. cant remember which ones, but they should all have the same scoring. keep the +1 for certain things
If some of these changes were made i think it would be an even better game
Thanks for making it in the first place (whoever did! )
just to elaborate on the immortal one - its way too easy to just sit against an edge in the middle and wait around. little skill. i think the game would be better with no sheilds and maybe moving obstacles, like blocks that come out the ground blocking your way or leaving you open randomly. definitely no need for the sheilds though
Just another heads up, I believe the immortal minigame is bugged. Hotkey does not work properly and brings up an error. I love all the games and the new ones are perfect additions. The medic one is simple but absolutely halarious and probably the my new favorite game even just to watch. I would say tho that an increase from the 40 points total is much needed and maybe should be based on number of players.
i only got onto this game recently (Europe Server) and feel it's seriously underrated and underplayed. It's so fun. I'm wondering whether the authors are still looking after it/considerring adding new maps etc. I agree with what DrBeansy said above, i'd like an option to vote at the start whether its first to 40-60-80 etc as 40 sometimes is over far too quickly. Anyway I encourage any custom game players to give it a try, it needs more players
It used to be really popular on the EU server, but for some reason it declined, I guess cause people got bored or something from it not having more mini games, I still play every now and a then when I get invited by friends, I agree it really deserves more played time. The main problem is that the author is no where to be found, I hope they come back and try to improve the map some more.

We're still hanging around sometimes, and it seems sorta popular on HOTS now edit: I just fixed the bug with players leaving on EU, lemme see if I can upload that everywhere
I just uploaded the newest version to all the regions as "Raynor Party: Revival". (any version not named exactly that is slightly older and uploaded by mateys from before global play existed)
The music is Madness in G Minor by aussie hip-hop group Hermitude from their (incredible) 2006 album Tales of the Drift
