I voted savior but it was pretty tough. Nada and Oov were the shit. It prolly was Oov though cause hes the only player I ever hated for winning so much. ( I like him now though )
I may not be the best player right now but I think I can beat any 'best' players. I'll beat all the best players and become the best player. Watch me. - Jju

Sounds about right. Actually, spots 2 and 3 might as well be empty since oov's worst matchup in his prime was stronger than both bisu's and savior's best matchup. The battle reports in the tournament forum were incredible, as soon as oov popped out people basically said gg oov 4-0 opponent's team. Despite the numerous superbly written reports by mensrea, the following Waxangel report remains my favorite for pure hilarity:

4Union vs Suma GO
This match was the final matchup of the Losers' Bracket, the winning team going to the grand final, and the losing team getting 3rd place. KTF already got their ticket to the finals, the winner of week's match would go on to face them.

1: Xellos(GO) defeated Kos(4U) on Enter the Dragon
2: Xellos(GO) defeated IntoTheRainbow(4U) on Detonation_Xnote

Looks pretty good for GO, doesn't it?

3: ILoveoov(4U) defeated Xellos(GO) on JR's Memory
4: ILoveoov(4U) defeated ForU(GO, wouldn't it be funny if he was on 4U?) on Parallellines
5: ILoveoov(4U) defeated Nal_rA(GO) on Enter the Dragon
6: ILoveoov(4U) defeated Eros~Rage(GO) on Detonation_Xnote
4Union 4 : 2 GO

And then oov met july in the Gillette OSL and the ITV League... And both of those leagues should be considered to be during oov's period of dominance considering when they were.
That wasn't any act of God. That was an act of pure human fuckery.

Heh, my mind told me to vote for savior or Bisu, but I couldn't stop myself from voting for Boxer.
Can't believe I'm still here playing this same game

I just love it how ppl come down on boxer 24/7, at his best, in 2001 boxer would've beaten savior aswell as bisu and all the stupid noob players, you guys are just so jealous boxers still in top of his fame after like 6-7 years of fame. learn to live with it noobs, or do it better yourselves.

i see a bunch of hilarious assertions and a messy nonsequitur implied argument.

have you ever watched 2001 boxer?

If we're talking about this w/o inflation, people who think Boxer even has a chance are on crack. Sorry, but the game is just so far ahead and advanced right now. Even bringing up examples of "old school strats" is a moot point, it is a combination of vastly improved execution, timing, surprise factor, and tweaking them to counter today's more popular builds that they work.

IMO, the only candidates that should be discussed are: 06 Savior, 04 Oov, 05 July, 07 Bisu and possibly 02 Nada. What further complicates this discussion is that almost all of the former bonjwas were dethroned by each other. Only possible exception was July, and he lost an OSL final to Oov.

02 Nada : He had incredible force, but I feel his suit, strong mechanics, are being duplicated by too many of today's players. He might do well, but I doubt he can win.

04 Oov: Oov never could beat Savior. In fact, Savior's trademark ZvT style was first demonstrated by his beating Oov at his prime repeatedly. No chance.

05 July: Didn't dominate to that extent as the other bonjwas. Was beaten by Nada in Panasonic, and beat Oov in his first OSL by the slimmest of margins. ZvZ vs Savior is a crapshoot (I don't know enough about that MU really), and even his dominating ZvP would run into Bisu, whose control and timing are eons ahead of the tosses he used to rape. If ForU could beat July on Requiem, Bisu will figure out a way in a bo5.

06 Savior: Now we're talking. Two of the only real candidates imo. At his prime, he an imposing force: play as smooth as water, flawless decision making down to correct scouting direction. Definite win if Oov or July somehow knock out Bisu early.

07 Bisu: SC progaming constantly improves by leap and bounds, and usually the strongest ever is the strongest currently.

But Garimto was always more than just a Protoss...

Boxer. After Boxer's prime, Terran players keep popping out. And even with his deteriorating skill nowadays, I still see him beat other top players, may it be luck or skill.

i dunno, i just cant get the image of oov's 20,000 tanks in like any mu lol. i know thats an exageration -_-, but i still give savior odds if he plays him. I guess its all about brackets an 04 oov can beat anybody i believe except a 06 savior or perhaps an 05 july, but bisu can take them ease. But 04 oov can beat 07 Bisu, Oov's tvp is crazy o_O

i really really like bisu but i have to admit that savior in 2006 was inhuman.
Yea that looks just like Kang Min... amazing game sense... and uses mind games well, but has the micro of a washed up progamer.

Savior owned so hard. He had a 6th sense, knew before everybody even picked a strat. He raped people as they even thought of what to do next. Savior in his prime... Ugh, so good.

But true about Bisu, the best currently is usually the best ever. Same in the Olympics, new world records constantly.

Don't you remember Xellos shaking his head during games 1 and 5 of that series and saying "its impossible to win when a zerg plays so perfectly"?

Those two games were utter domination from start to finish in a period when NO ONE could do that to oov

everything else you said is bang-on i'm just correcting that bit

If we take into consideration that the play level now is astronomically advanced compared to that during 2001, only Savior and Bisu would be contenders for this poll.

Otherwise with "inflation", for me its Nal_rA in his prime because he is the only player in the list who had no one who you could pair up as a "rival". rA's dominance is unique because he won through playing like no one had before, which is why for a period no one could counter it. Every other player during their 'peak' still had a rival that could match them head to toe.
Very well put. Day Dreamer FTW
