Thorzain being the underdog of the entire tournament and making it to the finals.

I voted nani.

Naniwa will win his control is way more slick and solid. ThorZain reliability on intense preparation here will be hurt because of new patch, along with only a ~6 day preparation time. Naniwa on a huge high winning tons of games, I think he will win 4-1 or 4-2 :D

Heart says Thorzain, brain says Naniwa.

Having Thorzain win would make for one of the best tournament stories of all time, so I'm really hoping he can make a miracle one last time.

This is such a hard choice... I just want this to get to the 7th game.

I picked Naniwa, but I'm rooting for Thorzain even though I'm a Protoss player. This is going to be awesome.

Nani is by far the better player but the patch really comes at an unfortunate timing for him.
Thors are slightly nerfed but that change is minimal, protoss build orders are completely changed by the WG and sentry timing change though. Having to play as toss just a few days after the patch completely stinks so that might give thorzain a chance.

Haha T-Zain - epic.

I really think T-Zain deserves to win this tournament considering how hard his path has been. Naniwa is a beast though, Nani will probably win.

I hope Thorzain takes this series, that'll end one of the craziest runs a foreigner ever had in such an amazing tournament. Both players are awesome though so either of them completely deserves to take it home.

A change in build orders doesn't just affect the player who is executing that build. These changes will have Thorzain in a more awekward position because he will not be familiar with his opponents timings. I wouldn't call that an advantage per se.

and that is exactly why he will win
But i dont think he's underdog. He practiced a lot of vP for MC obviously, i don't think he forgot it all
Also, he must be feeling very very confident due to his success so far. I just hope he won't be too nervous due to the large stage. (Although i dunno, how large it is actually?)

thorzain will take it

all that nani can do to win is 4 gate
THATS a thing he is really good at
maybe he will play 1 game standard like he tried vs hasu but then he will realize that he is too bad for that and 4 gate to easy victory

Edit: Oh wait
i hope this is played after the patch so thorzain will win easily

even though Naniwa might be much better prepared for Thorzain's strats than MC was, I still think that if he could beat MC and had practiced so much TvP even beforehand for when he had to face Tyler, that Thorzain is going to win this time as well. but it's going to be a very close series for sure, probably 4-3.

Have you even seen Naniwa play besides the HasuObs matchup? He's solid at everything, and he invents (or atleast introduce to the pro scene) new stuff all the time. I would love for T-Zain to take this home simply cuz it's a great story. But Naniwa is a WAY better player. He will take this. Quite easily I think.

Edit: 92%. Nani's PvT win ratio.

Jesus christ. Just because he's 4 gating in PvP, doesn't mean that's the only thing he does.
Have you ever watched a PvP in your entire life? I dunno how all these people find their way to team liquid from the battle net forums, but it's quite sad indeed.

I think Thorzain could legitimately have been considered the underdog with every match-up until this one, but I don't think Thorzain is the underdog in this finals. He beat MC in TvP; he can beat Naniwa.

Thorzain has been on fire this entire TSL. Naniwa performed amazing at MLG Dallas it will come down to who plays best in NY. In my personal opinion I think and hope Thorzain wins, no name player going into this event and making a name for himself. Besides his Terran is fucking sick.

Thorzain is a beast, and his preparation skills are second to none... not to mention Protoss are going to have to radically adjust playstyles after the patch. Rooting for the Swedish player of course!

Thorzain eliminated MC, and I expect Naniwa to be of a similar caliber. Therefore, my vote goes to Thorzain!

Basicly wanted to write the same, am Toss, think Naniwa will win in a VERY close series, but definatly rooting for Thorzain

thorzain has pulled off tons of upsets, including beating MC. iirc he played MC while MC was still in europe, so there was no lag either, so that victory is legit. and MC is the best protoss in the world. Naniwa plays protoss. So logically, my vote is for thorzain to take this.

I think Nani will win comfortably... He's just so good.

If Thorzain wins more than 1 round against Nani, it just shows how imba Terran is :p (joke)

Voted Thorzain as I've done the entire series (a little bit of bias, ya), but it doesn't matter all *that* much to me if he wins this last one. He has already made me happier than a little girl who just got a pony for her birthday.

That being said, Thorzain has been the underdog for the entire TSL. He barely flinched while juggernauting his way through. He'll beat the crap out of Naniwa :D

I hope...

I think Naniwa is good, no- I think Naniwa is EXTREMELY good and also the best protoss in the world. Thorzain on the other hand has taken down the biggest names in the world already, and has shown such unbelievable strength in each of those games, that I have complete confidence in his ability to beat Naniwa. I voted for Thorzain.

One thing to note: Naniwa has over a 90% win rate against Terran in his last 25 matches (his highest win rate by far out of the three matchups). I am very interested to see what happens here.

Anyone else getting that CrunCher vs IdRa pre-game feeling (remember?) Thorzain resembling CrunCher, and Naniwa resembling IdRa?

mmm The games will be very close but Naniwa will win 4-3 maybe 4-2.
With an average game length of 7m36s over his 6 games in GSL3, this is a no-brainer. BitByBit pulls more SCVs than yo momma at a club on Mar Sara. ♞

Did 1.3.3 really buff toss that much? I haven't been keeping completely up to date with SC2, could someone fill me in on this? I thought the biggest patch changes had to do with the anti-4Gate pylon radius change and archons being massive - does that make them game changing vs T due to marauders having a harder time vs them or something?

The changes in 1.3.3 are insignificant for the TvP match-up. The archon tech tree is fairly unexplored and also the tournament is approaching in 3 days, so Nani will need to make a build quickly if he is going to use Archons. Saying that the 1.3.3 patch will change the match-up in favor of Nani doesn't make logical sense.

BTW GOGO THORZAIN!!!

I can't see Naniwa being able to crack Thorzain. Nothing seems to throw him off, and in a long term game Thorzain will pull the W.

The Thor nerf might tip the scales though to the point where Thorzain loses by one game. Ghost buff and Archon buff balance themselves out, and Warpgate research nerf only means that Thorzain definitely won't be beaten early.

Gotta Agree with Komentaja.
The Changes from the patch might throw both players off a bit, but hopefully some practice will kiil most of the posible mistakes. I see ThorZain taking it! but something is telling me that Naniwa will take a few games. looking forward to a great series! FistPump!

Both are awesome players, and I've got alot of respect for Naniwa, but Thorzain has been on such good form, all of his games are just disturbing as he builds counters for the units that his opponent will be building in the next minute lol.

Thorzain could beat anyone. Koreans look like bronze players compared to him. TSL2 Champion bites the dust.. best european terran can't defeat thorzaine in his weakest matchup.

T-Zain's always played in the comfort of his own home, and this will be his first major LAN he will visit in a long time (I dunno what he did in his wc3 days), but he'll have butterflies in the size of elephants, while Naniwa will be cool as a cucumber.
Naniwa 4-1.

It's going to be close, as far as I know Nani's PvT is very good and I know Thorzain has some of the best TvP outside of Korea, if not the best.

Rooting for Thorzain. His TvP is very strong and he managed to steamroll MC, but Naniwa is also a very solid player. It'll be interesting to see if Thorzain does his Thor build with patch 1.3.3 Thor nerf (but conversely, maybe more ghosts and well placed EMPs).

Anyways, very excited. A premature cheer to the organizers of the tourney; it's been really fun watching.

Archon buff, zealot/stalker/sentry build time decreased

only thing that was a slight nerf was warp gate research. Thor nerf is bigger than all that

only sentrytime is decreased and only for gateway. I dont think that the patch has much influence on this matchup. I hope thorzain wins, I enjoyed his games so far and maybe he has even better trainingspartners since joining mousesports! Gogo Thorzain, but please not too fast, want to see 7 games xD

Should be good games though, NaNi is pretty beastly. Very much looking forward to this. ^^

I think people give MC too much credit. He has great micro, and changed the meta game in Protoss' favour for a short while and for that he is great. However now that his timings have all been played to death he really doesn't have game deciding macro to fall back on. Also lately some of his discisions have been severely lacking (fast expanding against agressive terrans and just losing instantly).

Overall most of his success was because of risks he took which were lucky enough to come off due to the timings being unfamiliar. However, Naniwa is just an all round solid player and doesn't have to rely on luck based risky builds to win and for that he at least offers a different kind of challenge.

I'm pretty sure Thorzain has been the underdog in every poll, yet he manages to win. I fear for the worst now that he's the favorite in the poll....

Next TSL I'm not gonna be so conservative with my bracket...... I knew Thorzain was a beast before TSL even started, but I had no idea he was a super-mega gosu beast.

I think thorzain will take it. Beating mc showed us how good his tvp is. I thought he will lose to kas(tvt was his weakest match-up) but affter winnng 4-1 i am confident that he will win with nani(although nani is also great player)

Nani just almost never loses... I mean... 35 BoX series in a row. Totally insane. He's got 92% win ratio PvT. Let's go naniwa.

Niniwa will have a good chance. as thorzain says his weakness is ingame decisionmaking, and Nani is never afraid to throw thorzain off by some funky play or cheese, after that, Nani will take it.

I'm hoping Naniwa's winning streak will continue... wouldn't mind if Thorzain wins though. He's really good.

Thorzain beat:
FruitDealer
Tyler
MC
Kas

And if he beats Naniwa...
Then he beat GSL champ, TSL champ, GSL champ, and MLG champ. And that's not even counting Kas. That is a sick list of defeated players.

But let's not get ahead of ourselves.

I think Naniwa will win.

Definitely shows you how good these guys are. Not many people would have been able to break that Terran contain. Hoping for a long final with a victory for Naniwa.

I can't tell if you're sarcastic or not but.. actually it does and it does affect ThorZain. He used a thor build against MC and Tyler and the recent patch gave thors back their energy which means protoss can use feedback against them again.

This is probably the best finals anyone could have possibly asked for. If this series goes the distance, whether Throzain or Naniwa win, the real winner is the audience and the fans .
