Having Thorzain win would make for one of the best tournament stories of all time, so I'm really hoping he can make a miracle one last time.

Thors are slightly nerfed but that change is minimal, protoss build orders are completely changed by the WG and sentry timing change though. Having to play as toss just a few days after the patch completely stinks so that might give thorzain a chance.

These changes will have Thorzain in a more awekward position because he will not be familiar with his opponents timings. I wouldn't call that an advantage per se.

all that nani can do to win is 4 gate THATS a thing he is really good at maybe he will play 1 game standard like he tried vs hasu but then he will realize that he is too bad for that and 4 gate to easy victory Edit: Oh wait i hope this is played after the patch so thorzain will win easily

He's solid at everything, and he invents (or atleast introduce to the pro scene) new stuff all the time. I would love for T-Zain to take this home simply cuz it's a great story. But Naniwa is a WAY better player. He will take this. Quite easily I think. Edit: 92%. Nani's PvT win ratio.

Just because he's 4 gating in PvP, doesn't mean that's the only thing he does. Have you ever watched a PvP in your entire life? I dunno how all these people find their way to team liquid from the battle net forums, but it's quite sad indeed.

One thing to note: Naniwa has over a 90% win rate against Terran in his last 25 matches (his highest win rate by far out of the three matchups). I am very interested to see what happens here. Anyone else getting that CrunCher vs IdRa pre-game feeling (remember?) Thorzain resembling CrunCher, and Naniwa resembling IdRa?

I thought the biggest patch changes had to do with the anti-4Gate pylon radius change and archons being massive - does that make them game changing vs T due to marauders having a harder time vs them or something?

The changes in 1.3.3 are insignificant for the TvP match-up. The archon tech tree is fairly unexplored and also the tournament is approaching in 3 days, so Nani will need to make a build quickly if he is going to use Archons. Saying that the 1.3.3 patch will change the match-up in favor of Nani doesn't make logical sense. BTW GOGO THORZAIN!!!

The Thor nerf might tip the scales though to the point where Thorzain loses by one game. Ghost buff and Archon buff balance themselves out, and Warpgate research nerf only means that Thorzain definitely won't be beaten early.

The Changes from the patch might throw both players off a bit, but hopefully some practice will kiil most of the posible mistakes. I see ThorZain taking it! but something is telling me that Naniwa will take a few games. looking forward to a great series! FistPump!

He has great micro, and changed the meta game in Protoss' favour for a short while and for that he is great. However now that his timings have all been played to death he really doesn't have game deciding macro to fall back on. Also lately some of his discisions have been severely lacking (fast expanding against agressive terrans and just losing instantly). Overall most of his success was because of risks he took which were lucky enough to come off due to the timings being unfamiliar. However, Naniwa is just an all round solid player and doesn't have to rely on luck based risky builds to win and for that he at least offers a different kind of challenge.
