but i actually LOVE it and still think it might look bad to new users. the first time i saw this page ( around a year ago) i immediately dismissed it because i saw that banner and thought "that can't be starcraft" when googling for starcraft strategy.

I like it, BUT.

Newcomers to the site (which is what SC2 will build on) will have a hard time recognizing it immediately as a Starcraft site, i know i did when i first discovered TL.net 3 or 4 years ago

The only way I'd be in favor of changing it is if another more awesome horse banner that somehow improved upon the current one was developed, but that would be a lot of work for an unnecessary (but possibly awesome) new banner.

I'd use the same picture but redo it somehow. Perhaps only keeping the horses on the left (removing 2-3 from the right side) so that it's still TL, but new and fresh.

The horses are what made me think. This site is fucken weird.?! lol. I love them so much. I thought this was a woman's diary when I first came on here but then I found it it's a peoples congregation for the love of sc!!!

I don't mind the horses that much, but the general layout of TL could use a little helping hand. SC gets an upgrade to SC2, why not TL2.0?

I love the banner -- another thing that makes TL unique. If you do change it, for the love of god don't replace it with something loud and garish. There's going to be a ton of trash site emerging with the release of SC2, and the less content they'll have the flashier they'll be, so leave the gaudiness to them. We have the horses.

tbh, I think they look kinda retarded. But for some reason, I fucking hate horses. Also, I though it was just an artist rendering of that gay scene from LOTR where what-her-face summons like a wall of water horses to kill the ring wraiths...and I was always like "wtf do the ring wraith stomping water horses have to do with TL?"

IMHO

1. The horses, if they are meaningful to the older crowd should stay
2. But perhaps we can update the look of the website in a cleaner/streamlined way
3. I do not understand the reason for the horses being there and I find it pretty random
4. I don't think keeping/removing the horses will play a huge role to teamliquid.net anyways, it's more about the people and content here
5. If I had any power in moderating this site I would probably keep horses but use a different image just because:
a) culture/tradition is always good and should be preserved
b) the look of the horses/banner looks like something from 1993
