I 100% agree, I've always thought teamliquid.net lacks in terms of graphic design. Changing the banner in the header with something better could be a good start for a restyling.
That doesn't mean it should be replaced with something flashy and unrelated with the rest of the site. The horses reference should remain, but the logo could be renewed

The first time i came to TL i thought it was... well... gay.

Hell i didn't even know what this site was really about. I heard something about starcraft but with those horses it could have been like... anything and worse.

I guess they have nostalgic value, but i really really wouldn't mind if the banner would actually resemble somehow the general topic of this community. And that is not gay horses.

The horse banner has been a part of TL for what the past 8 years? If people didn't like it I would imagine it would have been changed in this very long time frame.

The only reason to change the banner now would be to make the site more appealing for new members coming in for the sc2 wave. And if TL started to change the things that make it unique just to try and capitalize on this it would feel like TL was selling out.

Although I wouldn't have a huge problem if a new banner was created as long as A) it still had the horses/liquid and B) had nothing to do with starcraft.

Yeah. You could keep the horses but TL could really use a makeover. Even just upgrading forum software and whatnot would be nice.

Its just a banner. I really don't care if it stays or goes.

EDIT: on second thought, i think the entire website should be revamped. I would have made an account months earlier if i hadnt thought that TL was a piece of crap. While I know that its not now, a couple of my friends still refuse to give it a chance after being spoiled by every other forum. The biggest issue, is probably the lack of avatars. Not only does it improve the appearance, it also seems to help with quick recognition. On other websites, ill remember people as their avatar. While on TL, i constantly just barely catch myself thinking of someone as nameless, then glancing up and realizing that that was actually someone that i know.

Remaking the forum graphics (and horses) would put TL on the same level as any new SCII website. And we don't want this.

Haha when I first saw TL's layout in general it seemed so old to me, but now that I'm used to it I think it's way way better than any other forums. The two sidebars with text only in a narrow strip in the middle seemed so old and outdated, but it really is very likable when you are accustomed to it.

Edit: Lol and right after I post I read the comments on this page of a bunch of guys with 70 or so posts and see them hate it. Give it time. Also avatars are bad.

Ewww, don't shit avatars all over Teamliquid. I like that's it's a website for content.
