When the TSL began, competitive StarCraft 2 was in a whole different world. The IEM World Championship had just ended with Koreans taking home first, second and third. Idra had withdrawn from the March GSL, leaving Jinro as the only foreigner in Code S. Of the four foreigners in Code A, only Huk had made it past the round of 32. Foreign players were being tossed around like leaves on a windy day. MC 4-1'd July in the GSL finals to take his second GSL championship and was being proclaimed by the masses as the undisputed best player in the world. A month prior, a Swedish Terran named Marcus Eklof had won his second tournament ever, the 2011 TeamSpeak TeamLiquid Open #12. Outside of the Nordic scene no one knew who he was. And what did it matter? In the TSL he was matched up against one of the most beloved players, FruitDealer, who had battered and beat Virus to a pulp in the GSL Up/Down S2 four days before Thorzain's debut. FruitDealer was in form with two very impressive ZvT wins and a spot in GSL Code S S3. Meanwhile, the former Brood War superstar and Assembly Winter champ, Ret, was prepping for a repeat of his 2-0 sweep of Naniwa at Assembly. The Dignitas Protoss had yet to make his insane run and victory at MLG Dallas and was still cooling in the shadow of his removal from the ESL Pro Series, and exit from MyM. Infamous for bad manner and an unprofessional demeanor, he was not hoped or favoured to advance. As the weeks passed Naniwa and Thorzain cut a path to the finals. Ignoring pontificating fanboys and all manner of precedent, they toppled players like trees to an axe. Five different countries were knocked down and out of the TSL as the compatriots clutched through round after round with no-nonsense, extremely prepared play. Thorzain became the people's champion by dethroning MC and debunking the myth that Koreans could not be beat. For Naniwa, each advancement was a hammer blow that reforged his image into the awe-inspiring and utterly terrifying one that it is today. The TSL started on March 19th. Since then, Naniwa, at an 68.84% all-time PvT win percentage, has won 28 PvTs and lost three. Thorzain, at 70.97% in the matchup, has gone 6-4. Even still, Liquibetters are split on who will win. When it comes to Thorzain, what you see on paper is irrespective of what you see on screen. His ability to defeat a variety of grizzled, experienced players, in just as many scenarios, shows that he is impossible to predict. Thorzain carries his momentum with him from one game to the next, like a hammer that defies Newton's third law. Naniwa is the opposite. He looks good on paper, and he plays like you expect him to. Everything about his play is polished to a shine; like a seamless, gilded armour that bore him to the finals. There are no two players more deserving or talented. On Sunday we will be watching the best, playing at the dawn of a new era.
Cheerfuls !

Think naniwa will take this easily, not that I underestimate thorzain. However, this is LAN and new environment for thorzain. I think naniwa experience will play a crucial roll in this series! Hoping for an epic series though, please no roflstomp
Looking forward to some great games and hopefully an epic series not sure why everyone keeps talking about thorzin and LAN's when he attended and did well at plenty of them in wc3.
Nani is really good, but I think Thorzain has risen into a class of his own throughout this tournament and, thus, will take it. Good luck to both competitors, though! Should be an awesome awesome match!!
It may be LAN (sorta, eh Blizz?) but it's not a big stage and Thorzain has his share of LAN experience from TFT. This won't come down to who likes live games, this will come down to pure skill and mind games. Thorzain fighting!
i was in about 8/10 games wrong who's winning so i will say noting about tomorrow :D all my favorites are out :/ but still going to be really awesome !!! GL to both players
Thorzain beat TWO GSL champions on his way here, I'm just now comprehending this fact. I voted Naniwa, I'm really wondering how this is going to turn out.
I like how they both look like handsome and upstanding young men on the drawn portraits, and then you manage to find photos of them were they look like train wrecks. :p
I'm pulling for the 'zain on this one. Never been a huge fan of Naniwa (though I must admit his nearly undefeated MLG run was imipressive).
As angry as I am at Thorzain for kicking Tyler out, I've been really impressed with his play and would love to see him take the title, especially as one of the lesser-known players coming into the TSL3.

lol.. T-Zain, i like that
I hope he'll take it too.. I've been really indecisive on who to root for for this finals, guess the result of this TSL isn't so important for me as the previous ones I guess.. Missing some 'Liquid action in at least the semi's is what I think put abit of a dampener on it this time
Should be one of the most anticipated finals of any tournament this year. Two very strong players who have shown that they absolutely deserve to be here, let's hope they don't disappoint.

This is f'ing incredible!
Getting a little hyped myself over this i must say. The prospect of watching games played live has got me excited! No real favorite between the two though, i'll root for whoever DELIVERS during the first couple of maps.
I only know of 2 series Naniwa has lost for the last couple months, both to protoss (SaSe and Squirtle). He's been winning everything and no matter how good Thorzain's tvp is - and it is beastly, Naniwa's basically unstoppable in the real matchups.
I know lots of people are gonna be rooting for Thorzain, considering his victories over the past few players, but Naniwa has more experience and considering how much he will practice for this match, win for Naniwa. Naniwa FIGHTING!
This series is pretty much guaranteed to be a treat. Thorzain has proven that he can beat anyone given time and preparation. In addition to that, he has insane on-the-fly flair. Naniwa is finally given some rest and time to prepare and he has a deep understanding of the PvT matchup. I'll eat my hat if one game of these series wont be the best PvT we've seen all year.
This will be such a good series! I think NaNi has the edge though.... he has so much tournament experience and success... but ThorZain could absolutely pull this one off! Gogo TSL3!
I don't really get people saying Naniwa lost his momentum. He is clearly the better player out of the two, though Thorzain is deadly when he prepares for 1 week.
I'm hoping for Naniwa to win, but since they're both Swedes; SWEDEN HWAITING!
Yay! A final where i will be almost equally happy no matter who wins. HYPE HYPE!!!

Fuck that shit! Sweden in TSL > Sweden in Hockey world finals.

You mean the world cup couldnt put this on another day because all swedish people are gonna watch TSL final.

I know which one I'll be watching..Thorzain fighting!
Really excited about 2 scandinavians making it to the finals of such an important tourney, expecting some sick matches! Really think ThorzaiN will take down Naniwa tonight.
New in the forums, so stupid question. When the event starts, the live stream should pop up in the "on air" list on the right, correct? Or should I be looking for it elsewhere?

Clearly! Thats why 55% of players in the NHL are canadian! and its also why Canada won the world juniors 3 out of the last 4 years!
But enough of that, I was really just trying to trim the ego that is going to tear this place apart. Besides, I'd rather see sweden win than russia ><
On topic though, I really hope there are some epic games, and not a 4-0 like the GSL finals. But I think there will be because neither one of these players is inherently cheesy.

Canada got 580k registered players, Sweden got like 60k, Canada got 520 players in NHL, sweden got 52.
A country that got 60k players got 5% of the spots in the NHL, thats quite good.

A yes on the first question and a No on the second, glhf
that american psycho gif looks like naniwas face is rubber and snapping back into place. its very disturbing! i think i just about want thorzain to win but both these guys are awesome tbh
Thorzain is just the most unpredictable player I've seen so far. Coming out of "nowhere" and going all the way against all these top-notch players. I wish him best of luck. The same goes for Naniwa though. I hope to see some very intense games tonight!

Yeah, for me it's like 3 sec video and then 10 sec lag, 3 sec video, 10 sec lag, 3 sec video. I can't watch this, I'm closing the live stream and checking the VODs later.
for some reason with the TSL stream in full screen i have black lines making a box in the top left of my screen taking up almost a quarter of the screen. anyone have any ideas on how to make that go away?
Naniwa is so good it's scary. His micro is so solid. Best player outside korea no doubt, maybe top 10 in the world!!! NAAAAAANIIIIWA FIGHTING!!!!!!!!!!!1111111111111
Best finals I've ever watched seriously! All these games were so intense. Even how Thorzain defended all these insane pushs by Nani... Before TSL3 I thought SC2 could never be as awesome as BW but now I changed my mind. This tension... I even got nerd chills + bite my nails the last two games. Seriously, I can't wait to see TSL4 and would gladly pay to support TL and this awesome event. But this wouldn't have been as awesome as it was without the TL community who was cheering, cursing and totally going nuts on IRC. Thanks guys for these incredible finals <3
I can't believe this! When everyone was switching to Naniwa after his 3rd win, I stayed true to ThorZain and even though I was sad and knew that he would be nervous and his chances of winning were small, I believed!
Holy man! Simply one of the best finals I've watched after the disappointing final of GSL May between Inca and Nestea, where it was so darn bloody one sided. Now, this is what you call a final, a real epic one. Thank you TL, the organizer and the players for bringing such a memorable tournament. And, thank you again to the finalist, Naniwa and Thorzain for being so professional and so well prepared. Really deserved my hats-off. Congratulations to you Thorzain, you've got a new fan throughout the TSL 3 and that's me and I will continue to keep my eyes on you! And don't be too heart-broken Naniwa, you played well too but you lose to a a well-deserved champion, Thorzain where he played so perfectly and calm during last 3 games!
I'm looking forward for TSL 4, and I just can't thank enough because we need to thank the casters as well. Day 9 and Chill, you guy's had been so awesome. Man, it just make the finals more intense and exciting. Thank you !

Well played by both players. Was rooting for you Nani, but Thorzain is ridiculously good.
Lost every Liquibet with him now. >.<
Man, Thorzain style was squeezing every penny out from the army and being very efficient unlike most of the Terrans who simply waste their units. Look at each of the Marauders and ghost that he save. it is simply insane. That is what won Thorzain the champion apart from his flawless build orders, the efficiency in spending the mineral right to the dot and his timing attack. Simply brilliant! To take out Empire Kas 4-1 who out macroed my idol OgsNada is definitely something. And don't forget too, winning ogsMC, one of the greatest protoss in the world with 2 GSLs is definitely someone worthy to be tipped as the champion. He had a harder bracket, but he pulls it so well! A well-deservedly champion after being another top level protoss who had a 92% winning percentage against terran!
Man this finals was awesome. Constantly hitting those EMP's even when Naniwa was ahead to just buy a bit more time, over and over again. Naniwa taking 3-1 and Thorzain clawing his way back into the series. Best finals in ages. None of the GSL finals has been this interesting since season one.
Thorzaine I knew you can do it. The moment you beat FruitDealer I know there is something great with this player. Pulling off unique builds like 3-CCsBOs and extreme macro and micro, a mixture of skill and wits. Your preparation is really phenomenal. Such feat requires great discipline and intelligence, a balance non of the other players showed. All the combatants in this tournament are great with unique qualities but only the more skilled post threat to you and those are all Champions of other prestigeous tournaments. Like the 2 time GSL champion and MLG champion.
I hope you continue your style of play, using calculated and tailored builds for specific opponents and gameplay. You can be the 1st foreigner who might win GSL. With your nerdgasmic micro and ubertastic fundamentals, you make grown men squeak like little schoolgirls, feeding their hunger for excitement. You are truly worthy of the title of TSL3 Champion. Hail to you Champion, reign supreme Thorzaine!
So, why in hell can an observer slow the game down?
It should be set up such that, if an observer falls behind, the players play on with no lag while the server sends the observer updates and gets him caught back up.
It's bad enough that Blizzard has crippled SC2 with no LAN play, but no LAN + netcode mistakes like this is even worse.

Maybe it could be better if their priorities didnt lie with getting every nickel they could at the expense of game experience
