As I said in the thread, I couldn't completely trust HF yet because I didn't 100% believe the mod note proved rayn was town, and thus the circumstances surrounding rayn were the most suspicious. Should have stuck to it with more fervor. It was also why I voted for rayn in this last cycle.

i'd like to think that i played pretty well. this was a frustrating game at times, but not really because of the setup. i think the setup had some potential, but i would rather play a regular mafia game. i think the top town voting was annoying without adding too much to the game, and i would rather see 48 hours to pick between 3 (maybe more) candidates.

although the judge seems like the perfect role for me . sit up in my ivory tower and decide who is mafia while being conftown

Great game. Got to say that playing judge was very enjoyable and felt easy with my two fellas. It's very strong already to be able to work with two confirmed town without having to be on the defensive and explain oneself excessively.
Towards the end we all started converging towards the right solution almost on its own. Superbia and Koshi scummed geript, then I looked at the game again, then rayn/geript interactions came up, and Damdred kill made ES/disfo look bad already, etc. . Took me a while to accept HFs ritoky check at face value.
Memorable points:
- Jealous played the game like I hoped it'd be played. The paintings were top stuff. The excuses for being absent midgame were also easy to buy and legit ofc but reading excuses always leaves behind a bad taste no matter what.
- The Damdred kill was odd but also understandable with the HF powerup. But Damdred wasn't really in the clear at that point for most of the thread I think. Copcake or Jealous would probably have been a better kill alone for being the other nominations besides HF.
- HF played a great game, the tilting at times was okay since it really contributed to reading him town (in hindsight). Don't really understand what the entire copcake thing was about as it read just like she got bullied for having hipster reads.
Also a point is his rayn modconfirmation thingy which left me and maybe others confused for quite a while and was wrong anyway.
- I felt really bad for nominating FF as I only afterwards realized that he was playing a nice game. Hopeless too played really well and I'm not used to see a filter of that size on him. But alternatives at the time were only Rels and Onegu and they both were too low volume to consider.
- Still don't know how to read TW.
- Many thanks to Koshi, HF and Jealous for the laughs this game.

I dont know how to fix the judge mechanic. Its amazing in concept but it makes the game really hard. I felt like I had no say on the outcome as town, largely because I didnt think the judges would ever trust me. Maybe thats a reflection on me: maybe I should git gud?
At any rate, I feel town needs something to give them power, whether thats a majority lynch or a innocent child, I dont know.
I also think mafia has no strength other than thread presence which is totally unfair. Give them a rb, or a vest-shot, or a vote-manipulation.
That's how I would try to balance this game, after having played it.

I think maybe judges mechanic should go like this:
Three picks for scum for town to pick from, then two picks for scum and one pick from towns, and judges have a free vig shot that has to be used before nomination 2 (cause it becomes easier to choose right as the game goes on), then they are removed from the game to slightly reduce their influence.
At least after the first nomination town already can start picking their lynch. And after the second the judges are gone.
Either way, limiting lynches to three people is very town favoured. Anyone can do dumb stuff towards EoD without repercussions as long as he isn't nominated. And mafia can't just push the weakest townies as long as they aren't in the list, so maybe the mechanic should be removed completely.

A large part of the game is the judge mechanic. If we remove it, its a normal game.

That *sounds* great but its not a good conclusion. Yes we know the judges are town, but that doesnt mean we trust their conclusion. That last round? I think scum could have won that because we were pants on head as a town. If either of the judges or the mafia had more control that would never happen. The setup was solid, just some minor tweaks to give town more information (but much less power) so that the scumhunting can actually be focused on the gameplay, not on the mechanics.

Great reads compared to their town counterparts, very active (other than Night 2 which was weekend). And players presumed they must be afk, or mafia was picking pools, because the reads didn't line up with theirs. Eh. I see no way around that presumption without interaction, and frustration on all sides, unfortunately Judges gave us a free carry. If mafia tried to play that through I think they stood a chance. No it wasn't emotional about the ruling per se. Look at it from our perspective.
1. We're guaranteed to lose 1 mafia today.
2. HF is 100% shooting mafia tonight--which at best uses up the RB and confirms me as scum. for me getting lynched.
3. How does Rayn/Disinfo not get lynched in like 3 straight lynches.
Like, I've done a pretty okish job connecting to Hopeless and distancing from Disinfo; but between Ever's play and voting (plus general thread lean), Disinfo not getting lynched/cop checked/PoE'd from cop checks, etc. is almost impossible. It's just a time saving move.
