However, he did apologise and promise to change his ways, and he also had been a reasonable player beforehand (unlike threesr and sidesprang who seem to have no redeeming qualities as players). About Kush, GM wrote: Alright, update time. Something a lot of people on tl seem to miss (I've noticed it both here and in the ABL, notably), is the virtue of compassion. Whenever someone gives a two day ban, or just a warning, someone seems to feel like it's "not enough", and they miss the point of the action entirely. Many times much more is achieved by compassion than by crushing the offender under your heel. With mercy, you create good feelings and turn bad behaviors into constructive ones, while by not staying your hand, you instead create further resentment. That is not to say that there aren't times when the fullest punishment is called for, but I feel that it is wisest to err on the side of mercy, there is always time to ban someone, but the hate created by banning rarely heals. Based on that, and his sharp shift in attitude both here and in PMs and following discussion in the staff forums, kushm4sta will not be permed from tl (yes, he is a PBU, those are allowed on occasion provided they behave) and I will give him the punishment the host decided, a three game ban. If he is caught on a similar infraction however the consequences will be severe. Terminal even. That said, anyone who does not want him in his games is free to blacklist him. His change of attitude is abrupt, but I prefer to believe it sincere.

for sidesprang i'd favour a multi-game ban, which 98% will be the end of him, but on the small chance that he's serious about playing mafia, leaves the door open to take penitence that would take many weeks/months as befitting the seriousness

If he can't be assed to sitout a single game ban anyways, I doubt he will be bothered to sitout multiple games anyways. If he has the intention (which he can show by posting) of playing here still and changing his ways, i'd be all for having him around more.

We let kush off for a lesser offence. Remember that sprang ban dodged to be in a newbie game, the person who has done that before was threesr and we did perm him.

And trying to dodge a previous ban+smurfing into a newbie game is clearly worse.

If he really wants to play mafia enough to /sitout 3 games or so then he is worth giving a final chance. Perming people should be an absolute last resort. And let's be honest. He probably wasn't all that much better a player than some of the newbies, it is not like it is rayn and I smurfing into a newbie so we can destroy everyone. He hadn't played all that much more than the 4 game cutoff. What I want to know is. How the F did Blazinghand have multiple IP address' of players here to compare?
