Day 1 ATTENTION! ALL CREW MEMBERS REPORT FOR MEETING. ALL THOSE WHO DO NOT ATTEND WILL BE EXILED. The odor is starting to get to you. Judging by the looks of the others sitting around the conference table, they're sick too. "Face it. This is what we're dealing with." Says a stout researcher with a determined look on his face. You can't take your eyes off the ground. The thing on the table is too horrible to look at. The corpse of Captain Incognito, or what's left of it, rots in the center of the table. Everyone seems to be looking through it rather than at it, to avoid absorbing the details of his horrific end. "This fuckin' thing ate his goddamn guts and you sissies sit there twirling your thumbs?" the stout man speaks again. No one answers him. It's not worth another fight. You have every right to be upset, after all. The captain was a kind and dependable man. Seeing him like this is almost too much to bear. His chest is open but his body is empty. Scooped out like a jack-o-lantern. Maybe he forgot to give some monster a treat and this is its idea of a trick. You almost smile for a minute. "Yelling at us won't solve anything. We need to make a decision at some point. Why don't we elect a new captain?" This voice is refined and calm. It belongs to one of the older researchers on the crew. A professor of biology on Earth, he has won many awards for his studies of alien archae and extremophiles. People begin speaking up more and more and the voices all blend into a drone as empty as the void you're floating in. You can't pay attention to the discussion. The smell is too much. Your eyes stay on the ground and after a while you close them. You don't know how long that lasts, but eventually there is silence and a tap on your shoulder. "You slept through the ruckus. We're voting today on a new captain. That captain's gonna choose who we.....well...you know..." You nod and walk back to your room to vomit. A ballot is pinned to your door with everyone's name and a check box. You grab it and after you no longer feel sick you head to the lounge to chat with everybody and hear the candidates out. Captain's Ballot! In light of the unfortunate passing of Captain Incognito, one of the crew will be promoted. That person will take a leadership role around here and also decide the target of our first execution. Vote wisely! | ||
