This is the same reasoning as I used as mafia in the first game I played. I knew I hadn't slipped and thus asked for people to go back and make post by post analysis, as a way of reducing suspicion on me.

Im not going to try to defend anyone or something like that - but isnt the argument a bit weak, I mean shoot someone because they are on the list - there are obviously a pretty even amount of townies and scum now, isnt it kinda risky just shooting random? (even tho 2 out of 5 or 6 on "the list" are scum)
Also saw the suggestion with GM killing me and GM beeing shot - if we both were to show up town, thats kinda critical to townplay... ? isnt it?
