And I'm saying he would never do that because it would lead straight to his lynch aka him losing the game. Town knows he needs to survive to win and he knows he needs to help town to survive. If he's running and telling town he's assassin then we have mutual ambitions to a certain extent. He wants to win assassin game and so wouldn't betray town since we'd lynch him. The thing is, if he thinks he can win the assassin game with a hit, he's going to try to do it most likely. Then that means that if he misses, town is forced to lynch him, and you also get into a situation where he can blackmail town with the names of the BGs too. You can't really control him, you can just limit your risk. For example, if BGs got sniped, would he have still continued to help town?
And just to add on, if he got voted in as pardoner, with how the rule was, he could postpone his lynch by a day. So say one assassin showed up dead, he could shoot who he thought was an assassin the next night, and if town tried to lynch him, he could just pardon. That gives two extra rounds of hits to the mafia, because a black is trying to win the game, so not good for town.

DROPBEAR’S THOUGHTS ON HIS DEBUT
First of all, congratulations to the town on your victory.
This was the first game of Mafia I’ve ever played and it was dramatic to say the least. It’s almost a relief to be done; I found it very difficult to keep lying for such a long period! It takes a lot of time trying to process all the information too, I wasn’t really lurking, I was quite active it just took me that long to decide on what to write with everything happening so quickly lol. I tried to put myself in the mind of a townie while I was diverting attention and make my misinformation as believable as possible, even to myself. I’m going to give my perspective of several things, firstly why we failed so badly the first two days.
1: THE MAFIA’S EARLY CAPITULATION
-We had an inexperienced team.
-We had enormous issues with activity and co-ordination. We never heard from Milkyst, Darth didn't start talking to us until the end of night 2. Very little strategy was discussed early on and we were rarely online at the same time.
-We played very poorly on day one. Almost everyone had a slip of some kind or looked dodgy.
-A large number of the unexplained votes onto Marshal for mayor were new players who had nothing to do with us at all. It made it look even more suspicious than it really was.
-The combined pressure from Flamewheel/Ver/Incognito on the Protactinium account made things very hard. GMarshal and Coag in particular didn’t handle it well.
-A large part of our strategy was based on GMarshal pardoning himself. We had it confirmed by BrownBear as legit.
-Meapak's decision was a COLOSSAL fuckup, cost us our most active player and completely blew us out of the water. BB may have not told him the rules but he ignored the proof that BC sent him of the conversation with BB which legitimised it. The combination of this and finding out about the Protactinium issue at the same time meant we went from feeling great to being demoralised.
-Also at the same time, Serejai was given a public warning and the same was not done for "Protactinium." I’m still not sure what it is Serejai actually did but I’m going to assume based on his sub-out post that he posted game info outside the game.
-In our conversation immediately after on IRC, Qatol's explanation for the lack of punishment for Flamewheel wasn’t to our satisfaction. Meapak then came in and not only has not apologised, told us he couldn’t change anything and then when we protested to go to hell. The whole team very nearly conceded right there. Airblade and Darth were not present for the conversation and if they had been our collective anger could have seen us all sub out simultaneously.
-Serejai felt mistreated by both the admins so he left. We haven't heard from him since. He was then shot night 2, I'm not sure who by.
-Coagulation was extremely angry already because we didn't follow his stupid plan of having the entire team jump on the Marsh for mayor train. He felt that getting pardoner instead of mayor was a massive failure and went berserk at the newer players, especially me. He claimed there was a feud between himself and Incognito and that the Protactinium thing was a way to get back at him. The warning for Serejai and seeming slap on the wrist for the Protactinium trio, plus Meapak’s decision, pushed him over the edge. Despite attempts to get him to calm down he got himself modkilled and handed over a large portion of our blue list. Yes the majority of that list was legit. Not only this, his early flip cast doubt on me for my strong defence of him day 2.
-Milkyst got modkilled. He was completely M.I.A. and didn't make contact with anyone from the start of the game.
-As far as I know BC pretty much disappeared after the GMarshal lynch. I heard from him once more which was him saying “hello” and that was it.
-The hits on LSB and aidnai by parties other than us night 2 destroyed a lot of doubt and helped with the beginnings of a very difficult to break town circle. It also helped people suspect Darth later in the game due to him jumping on the lynch LSB train.
-Darth wanted to hit bumatlarge night 2, I insisted we hit Wiggles instead. The early end of the assassin game reduced third party KP and our chances of crossfire into town disappeared. It also helped aforementioned town circle form even more.
OVERALL
The combination of poor play by us, our inactivity problems, the massive fuckup by Meapak, our anger with what happened, the idiocy of Coag and sheer bad luck meant that we were basically crippled after night 2. We had lost half our KP in one night, there was a massive town circle forming and the only players left with any real activity were very inexperienced.
But we fought on! AirbladeOrange, TranceStorm and I started planning and we tried to peg things back. Darth came in to visit occasionally too. After the kevconsim mislynch, there was still hope!
WHAT FINALLY GOT US
Once again we had the opportunity to kill bumatlarge night 3 and I insisted on not doing so. I wanted to get him to help lynch DocH down the track, I had tunnel vision on taking out the mayor. I’m sorry to Airblade and TranceStorm for being so stubborn about it. I insisted on Rean and Cub. My entire plan of action was killed by Kita’s watching on M0nsterchef and follow-up claim. I should have fought against bum or DocH but I went after chaoser. It was a solid misdirection but for Kita’s claim and my horrible rookie mistake on the nosy neighbouring handed the town an invincible circle. Not only that, jaminz nailed AO the following night and that was it. If not for Kita and jaminz' work I think we could have come back and won. The watchers and bum won this game for town in the end, my fuckup was bad but I think our defeat was inevitable after their claims. The three of them were easily town’s best players in my opinion.
2: WHAT WE DID RIGHT
I think the sole moment of glory for us was our sniping night 1. We got 2 blues out of it, an experienced player in Cub (even though he was reborn lol) and a very vocal townie. Tnkted was our big play that we were going to use to discredit everybody, he had fought against DocH and Protact. The constant roleblocking on Barundar was to question to roleblocker numbers and because he seemed to be fighting for GMarshal , we wanted to use this to get DocH lynched down the track and divert medic/watcher attention to Barundar while we sniped everyone else. But then Protact stepped in with the massive pressure on Coag, we reacted badly and things went downhill after that.
I admit that I played poorly. In my defence, look at post 55 of our quicktopic. 4 blues and an assassin out of 7 on the first day isn’t too bad, ay?
3: MY OPINIONS ON THE TOWN PLAYERS
First of all I’d like to point out that many of the early town reads were wrong. If things hadn’t imploded for us the way they did I have no doubt that we could have won. DocH's early calls in particular were all off-target.
Second I was surprised at how aggressive the game got. I even found myself getting emotional at times.
Thirdly it is obvious that the game was dominated by experienced players. Next time I play, either town or mafia, I will try and assert myself a bit more in the thread.
Congratulations to Eiii for winning the assassin game, despite your major slip. We took out Wiggles for you so you owe us 
Kenpachi, sorry for tunnelling you so hard! We needed something, anything, to get attention off Coagulation on day 2.
Tnkted, I hope you enjoyed your stint in the Mafia IRC after you died. It’s pretty interesting in there as you found out!
Jaminz, your analysis was actually very good! Why didn’t you start doing it earlier? You were very effective for your team and delivered the final blow.
Kitaman27 was easily MVP, congratulations. Bum is runner-up. The two of you pretty much destroyed us; you were even coordinating already on night 1.
Town’s worst players were their Vigilantes. Neither of the medics who died were killed by us, nor was LSB. Pandain’s claim got him killed night 1 as well.
Dodgiest looking townie was probably Conversion. We were so gonna get you lynched later on. Congrats for surviving!
Luckiest survivor was bumatlarge. Every Mafia wanted you dead except me, I didn’t know you were such a good player. I’ll not make the same mistake again!
Unluckiest townie was definitely CubEdln. I hope you didn’t waste too much of your life reading up on the thread in getting killed twice haha. Consider it an honour. Runners-up were Mig and aidnai the medics for getting killed by their own side.
4: THE PROTACTINIUM AND PARDONER ISSUES
As to the controversy, if it had been BrownBear around instead of Meapak at the crucial time much of our failure wouldn't have happened. Unfortunately it wasn't to be and shit went crazy. Qatol and was in an extremely difficult situation: he wasn’t fully informed of the setup, had to deal with three of the crucial pillars of the TL mafia community cheating, immense pressure from BC and the rest of us, cheating and modkillable aggression from two of our players, the mistake and stubbornness from Meapak, the absence of BrownBear, a desire to keep the game going and to try and be fair to the rest of the Mafia team. He did the best he could to get us to keep playing, we very very nearly conceded right then and there. I apologised via PMs for going off at you and I’d like to do so again more publicly. I almost left but I'm glad I stayed on in the end and overall this game was a lot of fun.
Flamewheel and co, I don’t see why you couldn’t have just joined separately. Town already had a coach in Foolishness. What you did wasn’t fair.
Meapak, you made a mistake. But whatever, I don’t hate you for it or anything. Your offer of a grudgematch, if still open, is accepted. It would make a light end to what was a bit of a headache. My sc2 skill level is approximately the same as your silver, I have no BW match experience other than the AI and against my drunken friends but if someone helps me setup all the necessary stuff for ICCUP I reckon I could take you.
BrownBear, it must have been very frustrating for you to have us to implode as we did. I’m sorry we couldn’t have made your game closer. I understand the modkills completely, thank you for giving us the extra KP night 2 and for being generally fair and helpful to those who remained. You were a great host and thanks for having me.
5: TO MY TEAMMATES:
Huge props to TranceStorm and AirbladeOrange for stepping up big time when things got bad. None of us really knew what we were doing but I feel we put up a fight. I’m sorry if I steamrolled over you both at times, I should have listened to you more. You’re good blokes and I'd love to play with you both again.

Despite the dramas and my massive individual fail this was a fun and interesting experience. I will definitely play again, but I’ll probably play in smaller games and wait until I’m not in the middle of mid-semester exams next time

I dunno why you went after me out of all people. I'm pretty sure at that point Mr and Bum were pretty much cleared as townie and DrH was only suspected based on the fact that IF he was mafia, the mafia actually had a chance of winning so people were asking around about that.
Also, I don't think the vigis were that weak at all, they cleared the table of all our suspects, making the next few day's lynches completely free for new suspects. Had the vigis not shot then we probably would have wasted a few days on LSB and whatnot

What happened was that he posted in another thread insinuating that he was blue and that the reason he was playing the way he was was because he didn't know how to use his role. DrH immediately told him to not say anymore since talking about game info out of the game is against the rules. Had Serejai actually been blue then it would have just been a newbie slip. But because he was red, it was a calculated move and to lie outside the game thread is a little bullshit. People are going to be assuming you're not going to be lying about the game in such a way. It was underhanded at best and totally deserves a modkill/ban though I doubt he'll be coming back.

Because they were legit. We actually tried to kill these people. Kita and bum already suspected each other to be blues going on their coordination in the first couple of days. It helped clear them and made things harder for everyone left.
