Well, maybe you CAN include only a sane cop in a newbie game, but you need to state in the OP that framers/millers may be in the setup as well.
You can't explicitly say that the DT is sane and there are no Framers/Millers.

Yes, there´s not much Scum can do once the check is done, but if they bluehunt then they can kill the DT first. The DT has to survive the night, checking the right one doesn´t help if he dies immediately, and then either claim or risk breadcrumbing. If he does check scum immediately, then the problem isn´t that the roles are too powerfull, but either luck or skill on the part of the DT. Scum need something to counter a Medic+Cop combo, but I think a roleblocker is better than a framer for that.

Well, just by sheer probabilities it's more likely that a DT checks a scum on N1 than scum kill the DT on N1; so it's probable the DT will be alive on D2 with a scum check. And in that case scum can do nothing to counter act it (if everybody knows there isn't a miller/framer).

Scum have less targets since they allready know the alignment of their team, while the DT only knows who he is. Also while there are few DTs, other powerroles, like Medics, are just as tempting targets, and there are usually more blues than scum. It´s more likely that scum shoots a blue than the DT check a scum the first night.

With millers or framers it´s easier to argue yourself out of a lynch, without them it´s more important to get a correct blueread/scumread before even using your nightaction, and this goes the same for scum and DTs. Less arguing, more reads.

I think newbie games with cop/miller/gf or cop/framer are fine, though I do think games where the mafia has to counterclaim or preemptively claim cop are very interesting. I'm a bit against putting in red herrings, though (have a framer when there is no cop).

Red herrings are good because it forces people to play the game inside the game rather than using outside game mechanics to play the game. Like, 1 goon 1 godfather 7 VT setup has mafia either play snipe the blue or snipe discussion leaders. If they know what threats are not there, then it makes them play to the optimal style (rather than having them choose).

next normal, invite game: Bang Bang Mafia 2

I'll also probably change it from the original BB Mafia to make it a Nightless game with deadlines, Day/Night with deadlines, or Day/Night with first kill ends the day like the original. Really depends on the Town PRs that I put in.
