yeah, Foolishness I really think you should consider letting a queue of normals run constantly. Honestly we don't even need to do anything much for balance; just use C9++; have the host run the RNG and then if you need it, have them PM the setup to one of you guys for approval (honestly I don't see why a reroll would ever be necessary since the setup balances itself) and then just have them post and start it. Very simple.

I feel like there has been a distinct lack of minis recently. There's often a gap of at least a week or more between mini games. The last one was Wiggles's mini, for example. 13 player minis are guaranteed to fill up fast, even when the forum is slightly slow, since normals are and always have been very popular.

LoL? Dota2? Nah.
HoN is the game to play.
Except mafia. Mafia is the even better game to play.

While it may appear that the forum needs more normal minis, the slowdown in signups for TL Mafia L shows us that we simply don't have the excess demand to run too many games at once. However, because our game cycle is based on large 20-30 player games that can run for weeks at a time, the number of players actively playing in a game swings wildly (jumps up when a new game starts, and slowly dwindles until the next game). Naturally, this causes unrest and discontent in the community.

While I think it is a bad idea to solve this problem by simply hosting more games (playing in multiple games at once is a bad idea, as shown in multiple games, most notably Responsibility Mafia), we need to consider how to smooth out the wild variations in the number of players actively participating in games. Large games (>30 players) should be a special event, rather than a common occurrence, and the average game size should be smaller in order to decrease the downtime for players who die off early. While mini games could be placed in between the cycles for large games to accommodate the players who die early, this needs to be managed carefully in order to avoid detracting from signups from regular sized games.
The bureaucracy is expanding to meet the needs of the expanding bureaucracy

I think it's also because we have a lot of people playing in a regular sized game atm (and a good majority of the new people are playing in the newbie mini)

We easily have 60-70 active players right now. That's a good number, IMO, to be running 2 normal minis, a newbie mini, and a 20-30 player regular at the same time.

Of course, all of them should be staggered a little bit, but you get the idea.

I think it would help a lot if we actually knew this number. Actually it's census time, I'll have a thread up by today, gonna ask what types of games people want to play, gonna ask how many games people have played, gonna ask about activity, and gonna ask the big question; who all is here.

If you have any ideas for questions shoot me a PM, it'll take me a bit to write the thread.

Is there a mini-game being posted soon? Is RoL too busy for Hammer, or are we waiting for L to finish sign-ups?

Yes, as soon as TL Mafia L starts then RoL will be posting his mini game. After that we will have iGrok with sleeper cell 2.

Guys guys guys. I have the best idea for a mafia theme game:

Esports theme

we'd have trolls and netizens, and each day r/starcraft goes on a witch-hunt and lynches one member, in hopes of lynching the trolls. We could have sweet themed roles too like:+ Show Spoiler +

Artosis / Tasteless
You are a Artosis/Tasteless, part of the infamous GSL-Casting Duo! The two of you are both Netizens. During the day, you can talk privately with your partner, ______, here:

Obsessive Stream Viewer
You really got it going on, don't you-- you're constantly watching pro player's streams! Nothing slips by you, though-- you constantly catch little tidbits of information, be it day[9]'s password or Tyler's deadly secret, you were there watching live as it happened. You can make night investigations. Once per night you may ask for the alignment of any player. Alignments are either Town or Mafia. You are always sane. Alignment checks come back with the next day post.

Troll
You are a disgusting Troll. Your goal is to eliminate everyone else on the net. Your ability, as a group, is killing off whomever you decide on at night and knowing the role of each other player in your mafia.

Spammer
You are a Spammer. You have the ability to overwhelm a player's inbox with PMs, and thus prevent a player from performing a night action. Once per night, you may roleblock a player, and your target will be unable to perform night actions for that night. Your target will be informed that they have been roleblocked (even if they didn't have a night action). You do not have to use your action every night.

Would that be cool or what
