EDIT: not that you shouldn't you can't follow a rule which was erased in 2010. Idk, the Danish commentators said that there still is a rule about restarts but they questioned whether the Brits really had a malfunction ok on french tv they said the rule was erased and that the race should have continued regardless of what happen. Would be the most fair... The other rowers have used so much more power at the point where the race was stopped... I know I sound bias because I'm British however if there is a rule you can restart if you have a mechanical failure in the first 100m how would that be fair to those 2 rowers who have spent 4 years training for this moment? If this had happened to any of the countries I would be saying the same thing... you mean a mechanical problem like the british cyclist who admitted having felt on purpose because he did a bad start ?... pathetic
No I mean the guy's f'ing seat came away from his boat, GB hating Frenchman.

Bitter bitter bitter, learn the rules. and congrats to Denmark.

Great Britain trying to outdo China in unfair play? Heyhey, I think it was 2 Korean teams disqualified, some European team, and one team from China for badminton. Not sure though.
But none of the badminton teams got away with it
Jessica Ennis is indeed very pretty :o beast athlete as well.

You know, these complaints keep popping up about the cycling (usually from French) but if you watched it all you saw teams getting restarts just for spinning their wheels (it is explained as sweat being mechanical reason) and Hinds had a much bigger problem. Nobody mentions this though because the other teams didnt smash the WR and the Frenchies As for rowing his seat broke and if it happens in the first 100m you get a restart. Mathew Pinsent explains here "The news is that the wheel of the bow seat came off. It was inside 100m. The British boat have been allowed to fix it and can race in the final which will begin again at 1221 BST." Yet you compare it to match fixing? Pfft.

The rules are clear in both cases and the actions of the refs were completely correct, there isn't even any debate to be had, and comparing it to match fixing is just hilarious. However if you have ever read the football threads on here the hatred for the Brits from the French is pretty deeply engrained, not sure what their problem is!
Leave them with their hate, love make's the world go round.

I think the rule is bad. Taking care of your equipment is part of any sport. The other athletes shouldn't be at a disadvantage, just because British people are terrible mechanics. Can't accuse them of cheating ofcourse, it is a rule afterall.
The cycling thing is total bullshit, having a rego under false pretenses, just because it didnt go well is borderline cheating. If this is common in track cycling then that sport can fuck off.

Well at least he was suspended compared to Cielo or Busquets in swimming... I wonder if Pekin'll hold the record of the biggest meeting of doped in the eyes of experts.

The rule in question reads:
"THE RULE IN FULL FROM UCI - Cycling Regulations Team Sprint section 3.2.154 Qualifying rounds: In the event of a mishap, the team must restart at the end of the qualifying rounds. Any team which may have been hindered by a mishap to its opponents may, by decision of the commissaires' panel, be granted a restart at the end of the qualifying rounds. In the qualifying rounds a team may only be permitted two starts."
I agree it probably needs more clarification, seems very unclear. However what happened to GB would clearly be described as a 'mishap'. So the result doesn't even need debating and it's frankly completely unfair to the athletes to question it.

Usain Bolt time!
Lets see if he decides to belt it in the heat or just jogs through to the next round.
