I wonder when these teams decided on their roster that so many players are getting hit by this. Seems so weird. I know that the process probably isn't easy, but there's so many players.

Hai micromanages pretty hard in ranked 5s on stream so I'm guessing yea
I debated between putting Jensen or Darshan in my fantasy team flex position. I figured that Jensen would dumpster Gate in midlane and c9 would beat tip easily, so i put jensen on

based on how much hai micromanages his teammates on stream 5s, if c9 is anything like that I honestly don't think his team has had to think for themselves since they've been on the team. Rush is a soloq jungler and this is jensen's first pro team, don't forget he looked terrible till hai jg last year too.

Everyone on c9 has atrophied frontal lobes, because Hai does all th thinking for everyone.

Like can we just have C9 disband right now so we don't have to deal with the inevitable season where Hai's wrists finally give out and he has to retire.
But wow C9. I mean, it's been a much harped on topic, but really. Losing to TiP with a sub top-laner who hasn't had a chance to synergize with his team is some new levels of wtf.

AP ezreal just cant clear a wave without ult. You have to play 4v5 early game because the ezreal is constantly pushed in.
also the kiting with bluEz is crazy. You can just kite back and back as a team. Then they ate so much dmg you can then turn and can stick to them because of the chain slows

Well none of the players are used to thinking for themselves as a team so it's not something easy to fix. You don't just suddenly go from being micromanaged to being able to play on your own.

That fight looked totally fine for IMT to me, after they killed Sven. Then Pobelter just suicided when they could have easily at least defended their advantage.

What I don't get is why even do the baron, if your top gets a solo kill in the split push contest you just carry on with the splitpush. Death timers are way too low to justify the risk of going baron instead of just pushing and sieging in the 5v4 situation, especially with TSM's siege comp
We've got a siege comp with Caitlyn, just killed one guy on a low death timer, and are vs a bunch of champs who fight well in the Baron pit, better do what's at best a 60:40 baron. Oops we lost.
7 items between YS and Dlift and no cleanse vs Liss. So they lost the game in *two* embarassing ways.
wtf is doublelift doing ????? He is the most overrated player in the history of League of Legends, everytime i watch him play he does dumb shit and gets cought.

Well he is known as one of the dumbest ADCs in the world but with godly mechanics. Don't know how much the latter is true anymore.

Plays full risk without vision so he always has high cs as he farms very risky. Then when he doesn't happen to get caught he carries and looks good as he's outfarming the other ADC who's playing properly and more safely. More often than not though he gets caught and dies / loses his team the game.

Maybe like 2 teams in NA wins with that lead TSM had... Both of which are rated as highly as TSM. NRG and IMM.

But yeh I find it fun comparing Adrian vs Yellowstar this split. YS was seen as the biggest signing. Should fix shotcalling as well as being a strong indivudal player. But so far YS has made ton of mistakes and the shotcalling has been quite poor.

Yea no reason to go baron there at all. You're rabidly gaining momentum in the game. If you want baron you just wait until your advantage has grown a bit more then close it out. Took a huge risk when they didn't need to at all. Fiore can't split vs Poppy, all IMT can do is try force a 4v5 but that can't happen with good vision and playing it safe.

Eventually yes but certainly not 3 weeks after forming the roster. I don't expect this team to start really showing their potential until Summer (and that is if they get there).

I honestly don't get the difference between what TL is doing now with 5 main guys and 5 TLA and say C9 and C9T last year. How are TL the first to have a 10 man roster if the roster is just their main and challenger guys?

Since when C9T played in LCS? Dardoch and Matt are good enough to play in LCS and TL actually uses their 10 man.
I guess the difference is TLA have players like Matt and Dardoch who can legitimately play in LCS over their TL counteprats. I liked Hard and Yusui but you weren't ever going to bench meteos/haicalls or jensen for them :[

I feel like on blue side poppy is a bad ban against CLG, she does well against Darshan's preferred champions and CLG is built heavily around Darshan's playstyle atm. Either you get the first pick poppy or CLG has to ban it.
Or maybe lourlo can't play poppy, but considering the kind of boosted animals getting away with poppy on LCK/LPL I'd be very surprised

I idk if its TL trying to hype it. TL haven't been active in promoting in. Riot on the other hand can't shut up about it.
Also isn't the point of having 10 people the ability to have them try playing in different combos? Doesn't keeping them completely separate defeat the point too?
Ahh I don't even know why I care
EDIT: This is also Lurlo's first game off Gnar right?
At this point C9 needs to just tear off the bandage. Let Hai be free, promote Bunny to fulltime, bring back Meteos for Rush if they want (although iirc he and Jensen didn't mesh well either), and just suck until they learn how to play without Hai, or until they get relegated and all the talent tied up under the C9 brand can find new homes.

picking shen is abysmal though, it's a terrible pick in general and especially against fiora, lourlo can't do anything against darshan. Gnar was left open again should have just gone back to that.

Yeah Fenix should have expected that, it's pretty standard against point-and-click abilities. Still it probably was Darshan's only shot for staying alive so good on him for that.

poppy
gnar is ok, liss is ok, gp I think but he's permaban
Isn't Poppy more of a skillmatchup? And when Fiora gets 3+ items, doesn't she generally win anyway? Kinda seemed that way from the Huni vs Hauntzer matchup.
And with regars to GP. From the games I've watched this season, he isn't used as a splitpusher. Like can you actually put him in a sidelane against Fiora while being somewhat safe against a dive?

Poppy probably has a decent-ish advantage, though if Fiora gets to split and farm so she gets a decent amount of items ahead she starts winning. She has really good armor itemization with DMP + IBG but past that it gets better as well.

Poppy destroys Fiora completely. A skillmatchup would mean that Fiora could win if she plays well but really the only way for Fiora to be the Poppy is to be like 10 items to 2 and for Poppy to completely mess up.
As I was corrected we have an instance this week of a Poppy being 100 CS down and still destroying Fiora. It's just not a matchup Fiora wins.

TL has this problem they've carried over since last year where they have a lot of problems playing comps where their initiation is skill-based and not guaranteed (compared to hard CC stuff like Vi/Liss).
TL also has a problem where in the mid game if they don't know what to do they just sit back and farm the lanes. They just sit around and wait for something to happen.
Another problem is that Piglet soaks up a lot of the farm. In the mid game he kept rotating through the lanes, taking the farm avaliable, and then recalling to go do the same in another lane. That places a lot of stress on TL because the waves in each lane are now pushed up which exposes anyone else (normally the top laner) to a lot of risk if they need to farm or fall behind economically, which makes snowballing top very early even more important. Things like needing to TP bot this game created a 20 cs deficit at the very start since the big wave pushing into inner tower all got left behind and then Lourlo was underwhelming not just because of his failed Flashes but was too economicall behind to matter in general.
Piglet's playstyle is also stressing on the team because not grouping with team forces the rest of team to 4v5 and make it harder to defend the fast pushes or contest objectives. So TL's natural mentality is to go into that stall farm mode rather then be proactive. Leads don't get pushed.
As much as Dardoch and Matt are great, unless they snowball a lane (pref top) really hard early game, this isn't something them joining will fix. This is about how TL plays and rotates midgame.

100 CS lead over the opposing top, it originated from OGN Spring 2013 when Blaze would let Flame freeze top lane for the whole game leading to insane CS leads

Hmm, IDK then honestly, call me corrected here then.
I had no idea that Poppy destroyed Fiora that hard, but I guess I'm too used to playing Poppy on a jungle budget, which even when fed can't compare.
Basically you just have tools to deal with everything. Rushing armor is a smooth buildup for poppy. Your base damage is high enough to one combo people who build offensive items. If you get behind you can just ult her ult.
And your w gices you an extra stun in the match up sonce fiora is so dash based
Isn't Poppy more of a skillmatchup? And when Fiora gets 3+ items, doesn't she generally win anyway? Kinda seemed that way from the Huni vs Hauntzer matchup.
No, it's free
Fiora pickrate lck week1 to week2 dropped like a rock when teams proved poppy and kench can hold her off
Which games are you referring to? Longzhu vs Samsung? Wasn't exactly like Fiora didn't push Poppy pretty hard that game. And as I remember from watcing Samsung vs SKT on my smartphone, it didn't really proove either which champion wins in the late game.

I don't think so. Piglet stayed in his lane for the first 10 minutes and there were only a few instances he went to another lane. One being midlane when Fenix died and he let the wave push back in so that Fenix could get it when he respawned (this was also after he got bot turret so it's a standard rotation).
The other when Lourlo and Piglet swapped since Lourlo was getting completely zoned by Zion and getting froze on. Piglet went up to break the freeze and then came straight back mid for the teamfight TL won. Pretty sure that was a decision made by someone so that Lourlo doesn't get dicked on by Fiora.
Zion went straight back down bot to match where Lourlo was and then solo-killed him when he got there.
The early TP fucked Lourlo bad, I watched the replay several times and I think he should've just cancelled after seeing CLG turn around and dardoch arriving shortly after. Pretty sure it'd be much better to chance a 3v4 turret defend than Lourlo getting fucked over that badly.
On top of that, most of the blame there goes to Fenix I think. 10 seconds prior he burned TP just to get the early greed tear even though he was full health. Honestly he either A) goes standard doran's ring and not greed for early tear B) save the TP and just walk back so that you can prevent your top laner from having to burn TP after he just got the chance to take a wave.

As I remember she farmed under tower. But yeh, she seems strong enough so that she cannot be completely assraped as many other champions.
Thoughts on Poppy in teamfights vs Fiora? I guess she offers more engage and disengage, hence making her a better pick in teamfights.

I don't remember if I asked this in the last LCS thread or just thought about it but does the camera always show mirrored players? Like always showing the supports or junglers or full team. Like they'd never show RF on one side and Kiwikid on the other right? Why is that?

it's not hate if it's true~
TL should be able to be echo fox sub squad.
Maybe, I mean C9 did lost to TIP ... I'd give it like 70-30
TL will probably never switch fenix out because i think hes the kind of guy that really gets pissed at that and then just fucks around for the rest of the season.
Honestly so far it looks like there's 4-5 teams fighting to not be in relegations and not due to so many teams being good. Real disappointing after all the money being thrown around in the off season.
you might seriously do better with goldenglue mid and another korean import somewhere else. the basic problem is they resigned their koreans before basically the korean free agency season even started
NRG and IMT look fine, and they're the two big spending newcomers.
I feel like it wouldn't be that unreasonable to expect a Gate/Procxin/Pirean/Mash/Ken lineup to be even or better than the original intended Feng/Procxin/Pirean/Mash/Gate (which is still a terribad level). The former has Gate going Mid->Support->Top while the latter has Feng going ADC->Top and Gate going Mid->Support, right? It's kind of funny when the substitute silliness is still better than the original plan, like Seraph blowing away Feng (har har, blow away the wind).

And these comps are weird. I doubt NRG have the peeling to deal with Zed+Lissandra+Rengar+the culling going to burst someone down.
Welp double post. Didn't expect the thread to be so slow.
Next fight Alistar sees Rengar coming from the right (since Nidalee and himself, but not Varus have the ! over them) and still camps the Lissandra, leaving Moon to die, then dying himself. Bleh.
I don't understand how it's possible for someone like Moon to end up playing Nidalee in a competitive match, they should have kicked him off stage and play the game 4v5

Nidalee doesn't get picked to play a poke comp. Poke comps don't get picked against a 4-assassins line-up (don't go and pretend Lucian's passive with some crit doesn't rival an assassin's burst, and the culling is enough to finish off anyone that didn't die to one of the other 3). Actually poke comp don't get picked at all.
Friggin' NRG losing game at champ select; In what order did they pick their stuff to lock themselves all the way in against such a hard counter comp?

Wait, did Lucian just dash and Maokai didn't follow? He should either root Lucian so he doesn't dash, or he roots after the dash and then he follows Lucian to his arrival point. The same thing's been happening with Tristana's W for literally months (at least back in August/September of last year).
And it never popped out in the patch notes, so it's either a stealth nerf or a bug that's been left there despite how easy it is to reproduce. Either way, standard Riot.
Also Rengar ran forward, Maokai W'd to him, and Rengar turned invsible then jumped as if he wasn't rooted at all in that last fight. Some more bullshit o/

I think technically it goes from an undefined K/D/A to a defined one if I remember correctly.
Ya, technically it should be undefined from dividing by zero, but in practice, people go with a divisor of 1 for both 0 and 1 deaths since they don't want to give a KDA that is NaN.
I want to know what NRG were thinking when the draft was NRG: ali corki nidalee IMT: lucian janna rengar lissandra and then they picked varus/maokai, knowing that Pobelter plays a mean Zed. Such a huge mistake what the hell.

sure, but being proficient in nidalee isn't a sin. Coaches should get the blame for drafting him nid, not moon getting blamed because he was asked to play the champ.
Maokai/nida picks were pretty bad, and imo if you wanted to go poke mid should draft ez and have gbm play corki/altec play ez.

When a cycle repeats itself constantly eventually you just have to admit it.

Same thing has been backfiring with Ryze, whenever an almost permabanned champion is left open teams feel forced to first pick it regardless of what they had prepared for that game, how practiced they are with it, how much it fits with their playstyle, how counterable it is by the opponent and so on..

Honestly, I think balls on GP is like exactly what you want. Not only would he be poor but he'd have no utility.
CLG goes from Darshan suiciding and giving the tower away because they don't have The Culling to clear the wave, to an 0K fight after Rush dies, to suiciding for free on Viktor and Kalista's ult and feeding inhib and kills.
None of CLG played well, but Huhi and Xmithie with their skillshots were ridiculous. Xmithie forever tilted after his bad call at the river fight. Huhi just had no excuse for missing as much as he did.
How do you pick leblanc and miss so many skillshots? wtf

If TL lose to this team i dont even know what is with TL. If Fenix fails one more time they should bench him. Hope Piglet isnt tilted already and rookies can perform like before but without awkward mistakes.

While I'd actually like to see Fenix get switched out for a game or two how does TLA compete in challenger with half their roster being in LCS? Can TLA play IWD/Fenix/Smoothie? Is that allowed?
If only they'd dropped IWD, I dunno, maybe sometime in the offseason, instead of waiting to lose the first game of the season exactly the same way they lost in playoffs.

Can Lourlo play anything that's not Gnar?
riven/fiora but there doesn't seem any desire to draft him carry tops
They're a lot like LGD, only without star power, and in NA, and more boring. Literally all you need to do to beat them is do *something.* It doesn't even matter what! 5man dive top before 10 minutes? Sure, why not, TL will be there to give you gold.
I think TL (really, Curse because they did this shit in S4 too) management/infrastructure just sucks the soul out of all involved. Dardoch and Matt were at least making plays the first two games, now it looks like Dom is back and they fucked up the tags.

Looks like what people feared in that TL breaking two promising up and coming players may just happen. TL should just stop playing Dardoch/Matt and let them get into LCS with TLA then just sell this TL, shifting over to TLA as TL team. Then purge everyone involved in the TL team.
On January 25 2016 08:20 chipmonklord17 wrote: its not even funny anymore, why is piglet never with the team?
They just aren't a team. How can piglet group with nothing? Really should have purged this roster with fire.
Honestly I'm really starting to like Lourlo/Dardoch/Matt. Fenix just looks lost without Azir and Piglet just doesn't seem to gel with the others. He's obviously really good but he just doesn't feel good for the team

I don't think this is a piglet issue. Just roleswap piglet to midlane, and get rid of Fenix. That would be an upgrade from what we are seeing right now.
Both Piglet and Fenix are showing their anti-team attitudes right now and thats going to cost them. I expect them to both get subbed out later in the split if they continue losing
I really don't think it's a player quality thing. When you've switched every piece except one serviceable carry and Fenix, there's some serious behind-the-scenes shit fucking up or Fenix/Piglet are the anti-Hai.
It really looks like a CS team vs 5 randos in Challenger solo queue. That's infrastructure/shotcalling/communication. Bunch of shit we can't really look into.

Mostly because every other good ADC currently tries to do something for his team where as Piglet seems to warp the team to do things for him. Like why are they picking Shen and Gnar for top lane instead of the carry style that their top laner is known for? The exact same thing happened with Quas when Piglet was playing but miraculously changed when Keith played.

Look at his score and what hes doing this game, absolutely nothing. During that first 4 man dive top he was bottom pushing by himself and getting nothing for it. Just like old Doublelift when CLG almost got relegated

That's just absurd. Macro decisions are not up to him. If Matt or Dardoch thought that they needed him up there, they should call him up. If you heard comms where someone made a call and he ignored it, then sure, it's his fault. It was just bad macro play from TL; it's normal to leave your ADC bot to farm.
Clearly this and FNC v UoL is proof that LCS is scripted. In one week both the benched ADCs beat the one that replaced them, are riot even trying to keep it subtle smh

In the 2 weeks before Piglet got benched, Quas played Swain, Rumble, Mao'kai and Lissandra. When Piglet returned, Quas played Mundo, Lulu, and Kennen twice. Fucking Piglet forcing him to play tanks all the time. Do you actually think that Piglet is some kind of dictator that forces his top laner to play what he wants and everybody just bows to his will?

It's the classic doublelift situation. If you keep changing pieces with nothing changing then maybe it's the one piece that remains that's the issue.
Just purge everyone involved with old TL and bring in new TLA. Some things are too broken to fix.
Triple lifesteal on Kali seems like it should be bad. I know qss and thirster are great and all, but I'm pretty sure it'd be so much more damage with an IE or even another Zeal item. Feels pointlessly over-safe.

Comebacks are kind if easier now with NA throwbagins because death timers are so long that whoever wins the teamfight in the lategame wins the game. No real back and forth in late game.
People still pretend any fight the team lost should have been won by a good ADC singlehandedly. The majority of the 'fights' that got EF a lead were TL sitting their asses in the wrong lane while EF engaged.
It's hilarious seeing so many people blaming Piglet for every single problem TL have. People get caught? Piglet should have been there. Poor macro? Piglet in the wrong place. Any intangible problem? Piglet's bad attitude. My god.

This is some Rito narrative.
To be fair it was the team somehow clinging on for like 30 minutes straight without losing their base. Then Matt managed to zone/engage while Cait + Fenix spread out and did a shit ton of damage and eventually scaled past the tankiness EF had.
A lot of EF's lead came before Matt hit level 6 (at 17:30) so he was near useless until then and then quite a bit after, but once TL got a proper 5v5 they were okay in a 5v5.
I guess in retrospect I'm a little confused how EF wasn't able to rotate through and take down the nexus. Random question during the game was why Janna build a QSS instead of a Mikael's or something...

the thing about fenix is that as far as skill in fighting goes, fenix is one of the best in NA. He may even be the best, when it comes to winning lane. Obviously that isn't everything, and certain flaws need to be fixed, but it is nice to have a mid laner you know will beat or go even with the other mid laner.

Players slip in and out and form. Fenix has proven himself before and in the absence of an obvious improvement I'd content to see him push on. Work on his champ pool, get some better drafts, and things might just be okay.

Shen top into GP is straight up crazy. Can't RF play Fiora?
Also, giving a ridiculously powerful flex pick to a mid main and giving him a free lane is some high quality draft.
Can we just relegate everyone involved in the last two games besides Keith and Piglet. Playoffs this NA season are more painfully obvious than ever before.

Actually I thought it was a pretty slick play tbh. He didn't "fail a combo". From what it looked like it was E to minion for gap close => flash => Q. And it actually almost caught both. And it certainly DID catch one who was only walking. LoD was barely out of range for that. In fact didn't it lead to a kill anyway?
If anything I thought the gif made it pretty obvious that the idea was pretty smart.

but half of them he just gave up a free kill in areas with no vision doing who knows what
I think the kid has a lot of talent and his first 2 games were great but today was really bad until the last few teamfights.
I think you can forgive the rookie playing in his 1st 3 games of professional play for having some bad games. I am not going to shit on TL unless its end of season and they show 0 improvement again. Its week 2 and they just promoted in 2 rookies.

Missing Ali combo happens sometimes, missing a pulverize after flashing for it against a target who was just walking away is pretty bad.

Haven't watched those games yet, but Matt's played well overall in the two games I have seen of him.
he played pretty bad today, especially the first 20 minutes or so.
but yes his first 2 games were pretty good.

of course we can forgive him, I don't see where anywhere in my post where I am attacking him or saying he's forever a shitter? I just stated a fact that he played a bad game that's all there is to it.

Wasn't directed at you, more a general comment for people to keep in mind about this team since people are pretty harsh on them as if they were the exact same team/staff. Then you could say "same ole TL" but now everything is changed except 2 players from last season so they should be given some time (especially with 2 fresh faced rookies).

I think it was a real teamwide struggle there, he was trying to ward and make plays but there was no # synergy for TL. He was taking a chance and trying to push the ward lines further out without vision and got killed for it.
We can TL has some grit, whatever that means. That was some season 2 Ziggs or Anivia right there

The only teams that play Shen are teams whose tops are trash mechanically (Lourlo, RF, Balls) to try and mask the weakness
Btw Gate Flame Horizoned RF he's such garbage, expect Flaresz to replace him soontm
I don't really agree with that, or at least I don't think Lourlo has trash mechanics. Shen is just popular because he's a potato champ that works well in teams that prioritize their mid/ADC, which TL (for better or for worse), C9 and REN are. He brings a lot more protection to the table (also why he's been a big pick for Odoamne, more protection for Forg1ven), if you really wanted a no-mechanics tank, people would play Mundo or something.
Lourlo has fine mechanics, probably better than average in the LCS. He's just probably not 100% comfortable on Shen (and let's be real, Shen is not the kind of champ he'd main and IDK how many games Lourlo's played with him-- I think Lourlo was a Nid main for a long time). I'm a little worried that Liquid's need for a tank will result in him not realizing his potential as carry toplaner... though if Matt can keep getting Ali who is the best tank from the support position maybe Lourlo will get to play some Fiora or something.

Which is also the deep rooted problem of NA top laners that we don't like to talk about. The only ones that get scouted play carry champions and then play tanks in LCS and we wonder why NA top laners are all dumpster trash.
RF legendary is the newest one
Hm plays riven all day, he must be really good at mundo and other tanks.
Just kidding that makes no sense, another bad NA top laner
These MvP rewards are getting more and more fraudulent. Ok I can understand why you don't want to four stack and just say "four Immortal MvP's" but then at the very least you could've said Piglet was MvP ADC considering he literally is 1v9 every game. Jensen getting mid MvP is just completely mindboggling because I don't even think Riot themselves believed what they were saying there when they gave him the MvP.

Gate should have gotten MVP, winning in two roles what a god
