[S3 Worlds] Quarterfinals - Page 5

Two things as public notice:
1. + Show Spoiler [Quarterfinals 1 spoiler] +
Congrats to Fnatic, they played superbly and glgl to them in the Semis!
No one is saying that Fnatic only won because of the level 1 in Game 3. Please keep the nationalistic statements out of our subforum.

2. Riot's Worlds format is atrocious. Let's not beat a dead horse here. I will certainly be talking to Riot's eSports dept about it in the near future.

I simply ask everyone to be civil. Humble in victory, graceful in defeat.
Enjoy the games~

given how they behave though it seems like they do like to take little advantages when possible, skirting by the rules. had they not drew royal they are in a far better position going into brackets compared to a seeded team.

Bears don't really play 'slow' and drawn out compared to Taiwan, but they average like 37 minute games. I think they're best compared to Lemondogs. China and Korea both average around 30 minutes. All the games so far, even between the best teams of the group, have been around 28-32 minute range. I don't think it's going to work, or their counter-punching/passive style will really work against the Koreans, Chinese or the high tempo Fnatic.

OMG, SKT, and Fnatic would have all been terrible match-ups for the Bears.

I think SKT is a bad matchup for anyone tbh.

Royal in a Bo3 would have been extremely dangerous for SKT. Seeing as it takes them usually one game to adapt to a team that does something crazy or new to them, Royal really could have SKT off guard with their level 1 strategies. While Faker would probably dwarf White in lane, Uzi and Tabe would be to hold their own or even beat Piglet and Pooh depending on how well SKT's research and prep was.

Drawing OMG really takes away a lot of Royal's power. They would have been scary for Gambit, Fnatic or SKT, but OMG know how they play and should be ready for them.

Royal will always put their duo lane to mid.
The most unacceptable for Chinese fans is Uzi hasn't got a chance to show he is the best adc in the world. Besides, this is the last tournament for Tabe and White, and this stupid format may let them play two LPL matches and go home.
I really hope some NA teams can pick White up, he is clearly better than most/all mid in NA He will stay in California since his girlfriend is studying in UCSB.

Whitezzz and Tabe are retiring? Why?

The funniest thing in these two days.
That Chinese written in the graph was: Lady Lucky Smile.
All of the Chinese communities were blaming Tabe should wash his hands before that draw.

Sicca:Sword 5:0 PE in scrims.

Well, typically when you're 0-10 it's hard to imagine a team better than that. SKT scrimmed NJS a lot before summer finals too, it'll be interesting how strong they are now. SKT haven't really scrimmed Chinese teams coming into this tournament so I think most of those guys are basing this off of SKT losing to OMG once.

I wonder how surprised people will be if NJS live up to the hype. Doesn't seem like widespread knowledge right now and the casual fanbase probably expects them to be worse than ozone.

Oh I'd love to see Sword come out strong so much!

However they have historically gotten so much hype from scrims since Expession is in the top lane. So many people used to say Expession is the best top laner ever, all the time. But then they just majorly choked when it mattered and Expession seemed to suffer the most from that.

Let's hope this time they will bring it. Reach, please shape your boys' mentality to be super clutch and resistant to pressure!

Ye lol, I noticed this as well. This is prob the most anticipated match ever for me personally in LoL. I think Fnatic takes this easy, but ofc you can arguments for C9 too. I´m just so happy it starts early today and I can watch it live and follow the shitstrom that is gonna be this thread later. :-)

I don't think they're as meaningless as people make it out to be. Just because they don't align perfectly with actual tournament results, doesn't mean that they cannot be used as an index for judging how certain teams will peform. Of course, people will point out the obvious cases where scrim results didn't coincide with what went on when money was on the line, but as with all things, there are no fool proof methods of predicting the future. It's the same reason why people obsess over past results, because they can also be used as a guideline, and as a general rule of thumb, I tend to trust recent scrim results over past competitive results when judging how a team would do.

Plus, it's about damn time Expession showed the world what he is made of so that people don't forget how to spell his name ever again. I've been waiting for so long for Expession to strut his stuff on the international stage for months, and terrorize the world with his skills.

Pretty hyped. Even though I liked C9 in NA (the only team to perform well), Fnatic will wreck those kids.

Predicting Meteos to babysit Hai (if they run a 2v1 mid against xPeke Hai will get destroyed in his 1v2). I am confident that xPeke will be able to hold his mid, 2v2 bot lane will lose in favour of Fnatic and Balls can go even with Soaz without outside interference. But with the double TP Fnatic will have map presence advantage, which makes it possible to win the games.
