One other piece of constructive criticism, maybe list the team names next to their logos in the thurs. friday etc sections. It's not always immediately clear who a team is from their logo. I mean, it's not a big deal, it only takes a few seconds to check when scanning through the OP, but just thought I'd mention it.
Yeah, I don't know what happened there. SK is definitely 3rd....as usual, my excuse will be to blame the yes-man.
I was hoping to make the OP feel cleaner by replacing the names with the logos but you're right that it could be clearer.

I like that teams only have to play one match a day, so they are rested for each match, but I would far rather see more matches with less rest and prep time if it meant double elim and a much lower risk of variance.
whats the point of having to qualify via points? that would be like going to double slim after the 16 game regular season in the NFL. (hate rl sports comparisons but it had to be done) that and I hate watching double elim.
watching Curse play games ~10/11/12 of the day vs TSM didn't exactly make for an entertaining series.

Finally a chance to see M5 and CLG.eu play, I want to see how the whole EU scene compare to Korean since NA has already somewhat falling behind. Hope teams know that they need to ban Anivia vs Froggen

Well dbl elim doesnt remove the importance of seeding altogether, I don't even think it diminishes it. As for real sports as a comparison, 2nd and 3rd place don't matter in such competitions, whereas here, they definitely do. Accordingly the goal is not to find the single best (and everyone else loses), but to find the top 3. I can't really be bothered going on about, there's other stuff like a game of football takes a lot more out of you than lol, sO schedule would be too long, etc. I guess we can agree its personal preference, and yea curse vs tsm sucked, but watching curse in general is pretty boring IMO. I just don't want to see s2 championships as single elim, as everyone there is gonna be top notch. I guess it's ok here tho

you put CLG.EU vs M5, where one has played 11 games already and I'll take the fresh team every time.
the point of the seeding points is they EARNED the right not to have to play the favorites in the first round, even if a lot of the teams with smaller amounts of points are new, that actually is their fault. Mouz isn't even in the tournament I doubt they feel sorry for elohell having a tough 1st round matchup due to being a newer team.

I'm just hoping that the season 2 finals will have group stages followed by single elim. It'd have been nice to see this tournament be two groups of 4 followed by single elim semi-finals, third place match, and grand finals. Would've allowed the "best four teams" to advance into the regular tournament and then even if a team drops a series in the semis they'd still have a chance to go to s2 finals if they win the third place match.
I think top three seeds will probably be M5 then CLGeu and then Fnatic. However I could easily see CLGeu upsetting M5 or Curse getting third instead of Fnatic. There's no reason that M5 and CLGeu shouldn't face each other in the finals though. Those two are way above the rest of the EU teams imo.
Finally, I realize this is controversial and not many people will agree with me but I think it's stupid that Riot banned Hosan from this event. He was permabanned, yes, but it's like he's being punished more simply because he's a pro player. His main account was already permanently removed and Riot has never indicated they'd do something like this before. Just seems unfair to a team that has a small sponsor and was already a huge underdog. I realize it's only a one tournament ban but I don't think Riot could do this without the community going apeshit if it was a big name like saintvicious or Reginald.

The thing about double elimination is that it allows you some leeway with regard to # of games per set. You can do double elimination Bo1s instead of single elimination Bo3s or double elimination Bo3s instead of single elimination Bo5s--and not feel too bad about the "randomness" factor because a team that loses a bad set still has a chance to come back out of the loser's bracket.
Why is this important? Its hugely in the interest of saving time. Obviously with no time restraints we'd just run longer series' and get more games, but that's not possible with the normal time constraints of a tournament. League is unfortunately, a very long game to play.

If you're bad enough that you ended up with a permaban, it means you've already been temp-banned many times before. And if you still haven't stopped being a jerk to other people, you don't deserve special treatment just because you're a pro.
You also have to sign a Conduct Policy Document in order to play in the Riot-certified events. So if you break their policy (which includes stuff on sportsmanship) then they have every right to ban you from an event. It's not like they forced you agree to the Summoner's Code.

Oh, I'm sure he's a jerk. I'm not advocating he get special treatment either. His account is already gone forever so he'll have to make a new one if he doesn't already have one (I'm guessing he likely already has a high level smurf anyways). But if I had my account permanently banned that would just be the end of it. Riot couldn't really punish me further. But Hosan already had his account banned and has a one tournament suspension.
I'm not saying that Riot doesn't have the right to do that either. It's their tournament that they certified, it's their game, if they want to ban a player for inappropriate behavior they have every right to do so. I just don't agree with banning people because they're assholes. Especially since I find it hard to believe that Hosan is anymore of an asshole than Reginald, saintvicious, Gosu Pepper, etc. He just doesn't have the exposure that they do.

I completely agree with Riot for banning people 'cause they're assholes. Regi, SV and all those asshole-y pros have all been banned before. But they've never been perma-banned. Being perma-banned means you've been banned at least 2~3 times prior. One of my irl friends got his account perma-banned a few months ago cause he doesn't know when to stfu. Prior to that, he's already been banned at least 3 times.
People are always ragging on the pros for professionalism and conduct. If your conduct is so poor you've been banned so many times that your account is perma-banned, you should really re-evaluate what it means to be a pro player and how you measure up to that.

Pro players who get to be in the spotlight for the medias outside our "private" communities should absolutely be held to higher standard than your regular Joe "I rage like a maniac" Miller in solo Q.
that said, M5 >= CLG > rest

it starts today or tomorrow?

Wondering why they'd start the SC2 tournament and not the League tournament today? Or is just on later today?

On the official page they changed the LoL schedule now. It says NEXT SHOW ( Thu, 16.08.2012 12:00 CEST ) which means the OP is correct and could see into the future! :p

CLG EU to win it all. Probelry CLG EU vs Moscow 5 as highlight matchup. Wicked vs Darien hard to pick favorites

Its like 2 hours till the LoL tournament starts right? Looking forward to this. M5 go go go.
