Maybe but I think it's mostly cause it's a Riot tournament, riot employees cast the final. Also Miller got injured, maybe that affected things too.

As for the series, we were all expecting M-5 to win but not in this way. Shows they are a level above any other team in EU. There's 2 more months till the finals, soon we gonna learn the rest of the teams but one thing's certain, competition will be brutal.

Still, I'm surprised SK made it to the finals. Shit wasn't going too good for them at tourneys the past couple of weeks iirc.

They won 2 Bo3s, including one against a nearly dead team.

SK looked solid in their games v CLG.eu. However M5 did well to exploit SK's weaknesses and never let SK get into the game. SK should have known what M5 wanted to do and drafted a comp to deal with it. SK wanted a generic teamfight comp and nice lanes. But if you're too weak to teamfight or lane, what's the point of your comp? Not enough synergy to do something like CLG.eu style turtle out the gold deficit.

Solid != convincing.

CLG.eu played terribly VS SK, SK won because they didn't do anything stupid and let CLG.eu lose the game. Too bad they don't know how to win one !

Hm. Game 1 SK pretty much won thanks to random Smite-steal haha. Not much to say there.

Game 2 though, SK did what they needed to do right and CLG flopped. True though, Solid =/= convincing. However, it's still enough to push them up from B-Tier to A-Tier. SK used to be an easy walkover for most teams. Now whether they could stand up to say the Korean I don't know. But if they were to go to an IPL or MLG tomorrow, I'd expect them to make a reasonably deep run at least.

How many tier classes does your classification have? As long as there is something like an S-Tier where you can put M5 and the like, I'd agree.

Does anyone know how seeding works for Season 2 tournament?

12 teams in the Season 2 World Championships suggests that Riot will use a similar method to what Valve is doing for The International 2. Split the teams into group stages which will determine seeding for a Winner and Loser Bracket. Then play it out from there.

CLG.eu reveal they will go back to Korea for OGN. Then scrim with TPA for a full week. Then move to California with CLG.na in a gaming house until World Championships. Ooh. Now CLG.na just needs to qualify. They're definitely at risk though.

S-Tier, A-Tier, B-Tier, and then below that you're going to have difficulty advancing beyond Round 1 of a major tournament.

Looks good. About half of all champions have seen action (or bans) this weekend. Not too shabby.

"We will watch the Asian teams. And Korean teams. I mean, 2 million dollars. Chinese teams will kill people for that sort of money."
-Alex Ich

He's right too. I mean, I think part of what drives Moscow Five is that fact the financial security means just so much to them. Like he said, they train in not great conditions and other teams have five star hotels compared to them. When you think of what monetary incentives did to the Chinese Olympics Team... I do worry a bit.

well as many said in this thread before german crowd aren't nearly as enthusiastic/ responsive compared to swedes or american crowds when if they are asked to cheer for not their favourite teams ro just to randomly make some noise but I also thnk that the microphone setups at iem events is not very good for crowd noise compared to IPL/MLG or dramhack which is fine,.

I think the language barrier is bigger in Germany compared to Sweden.

As for Asian non Korean teams, I wouldn't be worried a lot about them. Sure they will train relentlessly but train with who ? I don't think they are at the level required to stay at the top training each other. Season 3 on the other hand will be a completely different matter.

Nah, it's not the language barrier, it's germans. Germans are just a lot more reserved than basically any other country in the world.

Saying G1 SK-CLG.eu was won due to a "random" smite steal is incredibly unfair and oversimplifying things way too much. The smite steal wasn't random, it was planned. It may have been "fortunate" or "lucky", but it wasn't random. And the game was not over at that point. SK controlled the map that game with wards, and contested almost every buff on CLG.eu's side with at least 3 players. That was not "random", that was a planned strat that was executed very well. They smothered CLG.eu in G1.

If M5 and CLG.eu had their roles reversed, SK might still have beaten M5 and then CLG.eu might still have mopped the floor with SK. However, the way it was, M5 got to see what SK had up their sleeve and then punished them for it. They were not going to overlook SK. Credit to M5 for that. However, M5 beating SK badly doesn't change how well SK prepared for CLG.eu and how well they played in that series.
