I am still a little surprised they didn't scramble the groups after subbing in CLG.

I wouldn't be so quick to discount CLG completely. Is a week long enough for Jiji and Chauster to switch roles? I think CLG is gonna be a wildcard this tournament. I completely forgot about that until you mentioned Jiji sucking ^_^ If all goes well I think they could completely dominate this tournament. They have the mechanics...They just need everything to fall into place teamwork wise.

Dignitas is my favorite to take it all. Their showing at IPL3 without Voyboy was so strong, although I really like watching Locicero play so I'll miss him ^_^

There have been rumors about this and somebody posted a picture of Chauster playing a bunch of AP carries in solo Q in the GD topic either today or yesterday so I'm going to say highly likely. The question becomes do they think they're good enough after a single week because this is a very recent change assuming it's true. Keep in mind Chauster is probably one of the best solo laners in NA and that Jiji isn't completely awful at ad carries.

I still think jiji is better at APs, Chau at ADs but at this point, switching things up can't hurt...

I don't think we should really take anything from solo queue as people like chauster just play what they want to. I know he has liked playing Brand and Cass but it didn't really mean much. I doubt they would change it up after so long.

I mean CLG has always been pretty flexible about which one plays which. it was more of hey chauster is more comfortable with this AP pick we made(brand?) so jiji is on AD. or holy shit they gave us orianna guess chauster is playing AD.

oh and also group 1 wtf... how does that seeding even work??? dignitas hwaiting since EPIK isnt in the running =P oh and i want to see SK not make it out of their super easy(comparatively) group.

CLG's spot used to be some SEA team's. But the SEA team had some problems and couldn't make it to NY. So CLG was asked to take their spot. Now Group A is ultimate LoL group of death.

Jiji was perfectly comfortable with AD carry at Gamescom and for whatever reason has shown very poor results as AP carry mid these past few weeks. Chauster's my pick for best Brand and his Cass is fine as well, no reason not to give it a try and see if he is comfortable taking mid in a tournament environment. Clearly something has to change; luckily, Chau and Jiji are two of the most versatile players in the game so this may turn out to be a relatively seamless adjustment.

Jiji has been playing mostly AD carrys on stream lately. Might be switching it up.

Lets hope so, Dignitas is looking so damn strong with Jatt and scarra.

Btw, anyone know if VoyBoy can play here?

Yeah, he will play in IEM. Or at least, there's no news indicating that he won't be playing.

I'm gonna go out there and predict Dignitas to be upset at the group stage. Form waxes and wanes but class is forever (this is not a bash against Dignitas, this is a comment about TSM and CLG's poor form). At the very least I'm predicting Dignitas to come 2nd or worse. I don't know who out of TSM or CLG will bounce back, but I think either one or both of them will bounce back hard to top the group. However, I don't think fnatic will make it out.

Saintvicious said it best when he said that every one of these top teams can win the tournament. They are not that far apart in ability. Who wins will depend a lot on luck, form and force majeure.

On the other end, I'm predicting 1. SK, 2. Sypher.

Let the hating debate begin

They're actually pretty strong and have some top French players there (some ex Millenium I think?).

"pretty strong" and "top" is all relative. CLG TSM D are top 3 of NA. fnatic is within EU's top 3. I don't think Sypher is in the same line yet. They'd have to show some explosive results like D in their first tourney.

One thing to mention is VoyMan is going to be at NY. D is showing their real lineup this time. As "niche" as Voy is, he brings a lot more options to the table than LoCi.

My point was more to introduce who Sypher was and rate their ability briefly. I think they have a great shot in Group B but I didn't say they were on the level of CLG, TSM and Dignitas either.

I still think Dignitas is the best atm. They have the form and the thoughtprocess all complete. CLG and TSM , who are slumping, havent got that down yet. Dignitas havent lost a match in about forever (that they werent trolling).

CLG and TSM just dont look strong, specially TSM seem to go in a state of fcking round when its not going as they planned. CLG rely heavily on Jiji and hotshot to do good. They just havent been that solid, while Dignitas only seem to be improving their game.

CLGs ace is saint, hes on a roll lately, par with Jatt for best jungler.

Disappointing that they didn't take our advice to change the group stage to double elim instead of round robin. Hope they avoid another tiebreaker fiasco.

What I'm really surprised with for D is that Jatt is their shot caller and he's their "newest" member.
