JBright, your threads are awesome! Like seriously, you freaking rule!
As for games... group A will be sick but I'm looking forward to group B more. I really like V8 gaming, and I wonder if they've had enough practice time to get better (Read: Phant0mlord has found out how to play someone other than karthus).
Looking forward to seeing Sypher... I know nothing about them. And Curse looks great... but they always fail to deliver... hope they've got some practice under their belt and can take a group win off of SK.

Sypher did well against SK in the finals of the qualifier to get here, my money is on them smashing both Crs and V8.

Dont forget that MLG had the same issues when they first started broadcasting SC2 with the venue not actualy having a sufficient connection. They fixed it by bringing along a satelite truck for the broadcast. Seems to just be a point of american convention centers having shit internet compared to the rest of the world.

If the venue has internet problems, the organizer is pretty fucked. Happens/happened at a lot of MLGs/other events, too.

Didn't the NY Venue get their internet cut or something because a truck hit the Comcast signalling centre for that district? Or am I thinking of another tourney?

I saw Sypher once before today during a Go4LoL and they really impressed me. I think they're going to be the dark horse of Group B. I like them more than SK. >_>

I don't think anyone posted this: CLG/Dignitas = new first game
I'm not sure how Scarra got stuck at O'Hare in Chicago overnight and still managed to beat the team that now lives in New York to the venue.

edit: lol TSM late arrival when they are all living in the state, fail!

It's not the team house. TSM was staying at Chaox's house for the week instead of dispersing the team for a few days after IPL then fly to NY.

I think my favorite thing about this was yesterday on Chaox's stream when someone asked him if he had any towels to use after showering and the response was "no, use an old t-shirt".

If it is at Javits Center w/ Comic Con, then I think they are pretty fucked. That place has always had terrible infrastructure but everything end up using it because it is the only really viable location to hold anything at anyway -.-

I think a lot of the stream problems that LANs in America have are due to the fact that American internet connections are largely sold on "speed" over actual bandwidth. That, and the average american convention center hosts far more gun shows than bandwidth-intensive gaming competitions, so they rarely take the time/resources to set up the infrastructure to handle these types of events.

Winner of Group A probably will take the whole tournament.

It's at Comic Con. Pretty shure last year's IEM NY was there, too. But no idea how it went.

Not even that, most modern conventions could and would take a better networking infrastructure, gaming related or not. The thing is that NYC's internet infrastructure has always been on the ehhh side of things when it isn't related to the financial area. On top of that, we have a venue that practically has a monopoly over the NYC area which has shown pretty little care over the years. Meh in all.

We are talking about a place that can't even provide the service well enough so that con-goers prefer to use 3g over trying to get their internet to work, lol.

They are attempting to stream the sc2 matches, and its not going well at all.
