What is the difference bandwidth wise between streaming the games and streaming this live(?) camera feed?

The "we will keep you updated" notice is beginning to annoy me.

I'm guessing that currently they're not playing any LoL games, so that's 10 concurrent connections less. This is just a guess--I'm not at the venue or involved with the backstage production at all.
My modesty is awesome.

one is being digitally rendered and compressed in real time to be sent out, while the other is just an analog feed

I'm trying to track at which point is the "Watch esports tonigh!" news post gonna disappear from LoL official site due to technical difficulties...that one tourney where day1 got cancelled it was gone within 5 minutes of them announcing the fact on the stream.

Man if v8 gets represented I know we could have had a TL team if people really wanted to. So sad that we don't have a pro/semipro team anymore. (Not that v8 is bad or anything, <3 Eski)

Heh, gun shows in New York City. Sorry for those who don't know but that's akin to the idea of a Farming equipment show in the middle of the sahara. It's just not something that goes together.

You are right however, most convention centers are not set up to deal with the kind of bandwidth intensive happenings of events like these. Most times these event centers are used for tradeshows and the odd political debate or such.(I spent alot of my younger years in convention centers doing various trade shows)

I would however think that this will not be the truth for long because any convention center would love to get thar hands on a major event like this.

Hopefully they can get things fixed soon.

Lol no.

Tournament realm is always 1 patch behind (occasionally 2 I believe, depending on timing). It means there's never a tournament on a brand new patch released that week that throws it all askew.

They are playing on the tournament realm, which generally uses the previous patch. The match are all live though.

Meaning the games will be played on Riven patch and not the current Xerath patch.

They play on an old version, that is all. Games are still played live. The reason is basically so pros don't need to get used to a new patch a few days before a major tournament. They can practice on this old patch for a few weeks beforehand and not have sudden changes thrown at them.

EDIT: beaten... by a lot of people...

and to think that even simple trade shows have problems at Javits Center with just getting wifi to work properly, lol. I hate that place so much, but everything in the metro area ends up there anyway.

They seem to have just given up with SC2 and resorted to recording vods to be released later from what I know, maybe that'll end up being the case here as well.

From Australia I only ever get 170 ping at best, normally 190 It's perfectly playable... But maybe not so good at a pro level where you are used to <50 ping...

Real lack of motivation.

ScY was trying to get TL back together like 2 days ago. I told him no and I think everyone else did too. TL was a great time. We laughed, we cried, we earned esports $$$, we beat Unrestricted and lost to Jpak and friends. Those memories will live forever, but our time has passed and there's no point to getting us back together.

What server are they connected too? I play in New York state as well and I know that one of the LoL servers is in NYC and I get 50 ping. How is the internet that bad there. I get better pings at my local Barns and Noble.
