At this point, the only thing stopping lol from dominating esports is the fact that riot CANT GET THE FUCK OUT OF THEIR OWN WAY. That's not actual viewers though. It's just people idling with the stream playing.

Second live tournament in a row where this has happened. Here's to hoping it works tomorrow but I won't get my hopes up.

when you check back to this topic, can you deliver riot a message: get shit working and give us a freaking ip boost or something for waking up 4 AM TO WATCH YOUR BLOODY STREAM, WATCH NOTHING FOR 3 HOURS and then hear, that's all folks! really takes the piss

Like, honestly, I would be ok with the live game receiving no patches for an indefinite length of time if it means the goddamn tournament client and event obs. mode works.

However, my qualms with LoL esports have always been high. The only way I can look at it positively is that if Blizzard ran, no i'm sorry, had any part in SC2/BW eSports then eSports for SC2 and BW wouldn't even exist in the first place. So comparatively Riot is doing a "good" job. At least it'll be better tomorrow?

How do team's practice and scrim if they're playing on versions that are X number of patches ahead of the tournament standard then?

Although some of the balance changes may affect practice, I think Riot makes an effort to slow down major nerfs, with the exception of the support rework. Even now, not many champions stand out as must-bans in competitive play. They could commit themselves to make gradual nerfs and buffs instead of any dramatic changes post-freeze while they are working on the final product, unless it's gonna take forever.

They should just freeze balance changes/content additions on Live until this stuff works. Honestly, I don't care enough about new champions and I don't think there are any huge outstanding balance issues that outweigh the problems with tournament play/observer mode for me. Then again, I'm pretty sure that's been made clear on TL by many people at this point--if it hasn't changed anyone's mind yet, I highly doubt Riot's going to change their policy now.

Honestly, I don't know what they expected to happen running an untested game client that is completely different from what they have used in tournaments.

They play the games without observer, just like they did at MLG.
