Also the queue was a little odd. I queue mid jungle, he queues jungle top, and over 5 lobbies i get mid every time, he gets jungle once and top 4 times why didn't he queue jungle/mid and then you guys just swap if needed. Don't you need to have 3 roles total if you're duoing? Honestly no idea. i play solo always. if that's true, then that is why, my b. but i figured it'd be the easiest way to guarantee roles. Worth a try one time i guess though.
the system requires you to have 1 extra role covered up to 5 (ofc)

Worth a try one time i guess though. the system requires you to have 1 extra role covered up to 5 (ofc) for whatever reason I'm pretty sure jungle is the 2nd most coveted role after mid. I queued jg/bot jg/supp several times, got botlane each time after like 2 seconds of queuetime, went mid/jg after no locking in ban/picks and stuff got 3 jungle picks and 2 mid, it took several minutes between each one.
My guess is that asking for jg (or mid) is like the reverse of queueing for botlane, in that no one wants to botlane so the wait time is instantaneous versus everyone queuing for solo lanes/jungle so the wait time is longer.
It kinda lines up with how long it took to find people in teambuilder as well, very easy to find top/mid/jg, but finding adc/support took forever

There are a lot of junglers who cannot lane in NA, a surprisingly large percentage of jungle mains.

I don't know, in my experience, finding a jungler and a support was the hardest in teambuilder. Then adc, then top.

I guess a solution might be an "advanced" option, with weighted prefs, i.e. Queue for top/jng but weigh top 75% and jng 25%? A simple draggable bar to imply preference, done.

Either way it seems like a very solvable problem. I'm with the bar pulling because I imagine some dynamic clock listing wait times for the two roles going up and down. Mmmm interface...

A hard reset is pointless and just means accurate matchmaking takes more games than necessary.
|
I mean if the spirit of the new ladder is solo only, which hasn't been done before, then the old mmr doesn't really make sense
I mean in terms of tryhard I think solo would be #1, so I don't see a reason to cater to people afraid of what might happen when normals and dynamic are available.

I don't understand Riot's philosophy that having more people play ranked, in and of itself, is fiat good.
I play pickup tennis games for fun and I have no illusions of my ability to play in ranked matches.

Patch notes. Last time they said they intended TDL as the "lane dominance" mastery amongst its alternatives, now they explain that they don't like it being that strong in lane so they buff its lategame instead. Revolving doors!
And I assume people playing ranked are likely to get more invested in the game, because that ranking and league and stuff gives you an objective, has an emotional component, etc. and you're more likely to hear of pros and stuff maybe?

What do the nunu E changes mean for Top Nunu? Obviously he's never going to be nuking people, but it seems like a nice QoL buff for his harassment in lane.
|
Nunu top lost an awful lot of his power ever since they destroyed Consume for lane. With all the mechanics and stuff that make bruisers not rely on AS as much (Fiora has her passive every few seconds, Poppy relies on Q and can auto at range with her passive anyway, Tahm doesn't care if you slow him, he applies 3 stacks super easily and then Nunu is zoned for 8s), you lose the "trading autos" part that amplified his damage (plus he's got decent base AD). But now with even more damage in the lane, I doubt some more harass starting at level 5+ will change much. Also mana potions aren't a thing anymore so managing his passive becomes even more important, and in that case it gates you more than Iceball's cooldown.
I'd be surprised if top lane Nunu had any kind of resurgence (even small) this patch, apart from people trying him.

Really, the whole slew of changes in the last weeks (you could say some months, including the facebook integration and announcements for similar stuff, since it shows it's been in the works for awhile) is mostly about getting people to play, recruit their friends (doing Riot's job) and then hooking people and giving them more incentive to play, or rather, less incentive to go (your friends play -> you won't let them down -> it's harder for the group to give up on the game all at once rather than for isolated people one by one).
