Play/Ban really dropped off after the Q nerf from 8% to 4% from what I saw.

It's a symptom of 3 ban system that is fairly obsolete for S5. Elise is definitely at a good place atm but not even close to being ban worthy.

In my games (Diamond) she has a banrate of around 80%, so people definitely think she's strong.

A lot of people ban champions out of "annoyance" and Elise is definitely annoying.
I don't think she is overwhelmingly strong after the nerfs. Also not everyone can play her.

She's in that solo q bracket with Lee and Rek'sai but I feel like players would ban the first two far sooner than they would ban Elise.

I don't think I've seen a jungle ban since the first reiteration of skarner back on like 5.16. Everyone just bans fiora/gp/darius

Anyway, as a top laner GP is the easiest OP shit I ever played against, squishy damage top who has 0 kill pressure on me, unless I fuck up really bad. I zone him I kill him I push him out of lane from minute 1 to whenever. Either people who play him in plat lvl a god awful, all of them, or something is really fishy with new GP

Don't really think GP is hard to play or anything, you just try to farm it out and outscale? Maybe I'm just used to playing like a giant bitch LOL.
Early game barrel cooldown is struggle though.

Depends on what you play. I'm not afraid of Fiora and GP because Irelia beats them both in lane (I actually find new Fiora easier to deal with/kill) and I can then try to snowball.
I haven't played in over a week so I probably can't pick her into Darius anymore though, people should be getting better with him now so I can't just abuse them despite the unfavourable match-up.

Dont remember last time i saw a reksai or lee ban, elise much stronger.

no point in banning junglers besides rengar, he's the only one that people actually main and one trick. Besides that jungler mains usually play at least 3 so banning elise doesnt really accomplish much.
Banning one trick champs has always been stronger in solo q.
I've been leaving GP open lately to try and find a good counter to him. So far I think master yi is honestly the best counter to him top. You scale well and he cant kite you. as soon as you have botrk he can never show up in lane again to farm you'll just kill him

Pre botrk you should be a sitting duck in theory as yi vs gp. How do you even lasthit without getting allined pre 6?

you out trade gangplank easily 1-3, then after that I just spammed alpha strike to keep wave pushed then roamed for jungle camps then i'd come back and alpha and just peace out again. didnt spend much time in lane.
but yea yi's lvl 2 is particularly really strong, if you time it correctly to double strike, the alpha and double strike burst is easily half of GP's HP.

It's only .5 is you take a boatload of damage first and that is only a lot of damage if you're level 18 already. Since you probably don't and aren't respectively it's a deceptively small amount of AD. Basically if you're not getting Triforce or don't have 150 AD at level 18 it isn't worth it.
for pure damage any of the "pure" offensive items like whisper or Maw or ravenous or BT just demolish it. Even the hybrid damage/tank items like Black Cleaver and Titanic (if you don't already have ravenous) dunk all over it.
In the end it's a very simple question. Do you have trinity force? If yes consider Steraks. If no do not consider steraks. You need base but not bonus scaling in order to make it good and trinity force is the only way to get base but not bonus scaling.

It's fine on Darius and Gnar (probably still Wu) and is a niche hybrid item on them at best, but the rest will be Tforce users, yes. It's very situational because all the gold value is wrapped up in shield health.

Well that's your rotation, GPs is auto passive, Qing the barrel he is standing on (because your alpha landed you ontop of him), then auto passive again. That's more than half your HP, and you're slowed and out of cooldowns. Haven't played the lane myself but in theory it doesn't sound great.

oh right, yi's auto animation is way faster since you take atk speed runes so you beat gp to the punch on barrels, now I see why you overestimate the trade. he cant activate it early either since you are untargetable
so if they have barrel up -1 auto atk so the combo then would be q auto barrel doublestrike GP
