Taking an item without resists or some sort of immediate, relevant combat stats is bad. I guess mobis get a pass because you need to vroom vroom. Flask is good too. Frozen Heart and Spirit Visage are both similar in price to Warmogs and work way better on Soraka. The "I don't have enough gold to buy this but it is my level 18 fantasy Riot please" item is probably Zhonyas. As to the earlier statement of Warmogs being bad "but its on probuilds a lot!", I'd say it's probably one of the biggest if not the biggest case of an item pro players buy that they shouldn't. Give me some example games from probuilds and I'll tell you what should have been bought instead, it'll be fun. Hint: It's almost always going to be Face of the Mountain. Thought I had done everything possible to make it clear it was just as a curious observation.

There is an interesting observation on probuilds.net: Warmogs have a higher popularity than upgraded Mobility Boots/Aegis and Mikael's on probuilds - that's not to say their opinion is absolute or builds are optimal, just found it interesting and honestly a bit surprising.

As a support main, when a game is near the end I'm gonna sell all my items and buy as many Warmog's as possible on Soraka to fuck with your stats

I think the main problem with Soraka is not the itemization, but how one dimensional she is. Her only function is heal. Her silence pool is underwhelming and unreliable. Sure she can heal quite a lot, but that's the only thing she can do and that is why she pales in comparison to other healing supports like Nami and Sona who can do more impactful things beside heal.

Plus she isn't even particularly oppressive in that one dimension because Riot really hates healing as a mechanic. She's like if Fiora couldn't duel.

It's sort of like how no one plays Leona in competitive any more because she is too one-dimensional YOLO ALL IN and even at that, Alistar does it better.

Soraka is very strong in lane, I'd venture to say she's actually one of the strongest supports in that regard. Problem is, she had awkward itemization and scales pretty awfully.

well...she cant in many cases. most of the best duelists in the game have a way to fuck her completely.
Nasus with wither
jax with counterstrike
yi with meditate (meditate ult)
tryndamere with ult cant be bursted
gets dumpstered by pretty much any ap duelist
etc
i didnt even mention stealth characters which fuck her completely as stealth makes ult do nothing

I'm not a Fiora expert, I was just pulling a character that I thought was very 1 dimensional. But I do like all those champs more than Fiora, assuming the player is equally practiced on both.

Riot, we aren't picking the AP junglers because Runeglaive is underpowered, its cause the junglers are underpowered. I do believe a bunch of pros/people in the know think Runeglaive is underpowered. But I think they should've left it for a while longer to see how it develops TBH. And a lot of that feeling is because it has a lower AP ratio, which isn't actually an issue.
I think a lot of people either completely overlooked or really underestimated what it meant to convert the entire auto into magic damage, as well as the 750g gap between it and Lich Bane. At least the buffs it's getting aren't completely ridiculous.
That said I honestly expect to see more instances of Runeglaive in lane than in the jungle.

Speaking of supports, pretty crazy Zeke's Herald changes on PBE:
Recipe Change: Glacial Shroud + Amplifying Tome + Amplifying Tome
Total Cost: 2300 G +250 Mana +35 Armor +50 Ability Power +10% Cooldown Reduction
UNIQUE Active - Conduit: Bind to target ally. This will remove all other Conduits on your target (60 second cooldown).
UNIQUE Passive: When within 1000 units of each other, you and your ally generate Charges. Attacking or casting spells generates extra Charges. At 100 Charges, causing damage consumes them, increasing you and your ally's Ability Power by 20% and Critical Strike Chance by 50% for 6 seconds.
The new Zeke’s Herald is a Duo Queue’s dream. A support will buy this item and then use the active to select their teammate who will drop the biggest hurt on the enemy. As long as they stay in range and work with the ally they’ve selected, they’ll build up to a proc that infuse the pair with an extreme amount of power. During this window, if the enemy team isn’t paying attention, they’ll pay the price (yes, that really is 50% Crit and 20% AP)!
Grab a partner and get on PBE to hit us with any and all feedback, whether it’s about the gameplay of the item or if it’s the VFX. And be warned, if you’re in one of those games where you have no idea what your ADC is doing in lane, this probably isn’t the item to buy!"

6s 50% crit? That's almost one item worth of gold, and the duration is such that if triggered at the start of a fight (and you can't be bursted down 'cause death is best cc) then playing around it and trying to disengage puts you at a massive disavantage because of the duration.

I take it back, Soraka has good itemization now.
Dunno exactly what the active does thoughm is it the thing that's triggered at full charges or whatever?

Activating it just chooses who you're tied to. Passive is the actual effect and works like Shiv/Luden's.

Yeah it has to build up, so if you're leaving the pair alone and they get to 100 stacks there's a huge boost in damage. I can see this being really helpful to adcs that benefit greatly from crit (Draven comes to mind). Keep in mind you can reassign the person you're linked with so if you choose to you can link up with anyone on your team that gets fed as shit if your adc is underperforming.
