The passive nerfs are pretty warranted LOL that was ridiculous. Can't wait to give him a go. Its a massive nerf, his passive takes till like level 9 to get to even a second shorter than previously, he can't chain roots at all like he used to, and that makes his Q harder to hit. His early game got destroyed. Yeah definetly a massive nerf, but Ryze in the 5.11 was so strong he needed a massive nerf. And he cant chain root - this is good (cos chain root was ridiculous), he still does a truckload of damage though.
I'm still confused where they want new Ryze to be. Q is basically the worst spell in the game if its damage is not totally OP, his waveclear remains poor, and his earlygame 1v1 potential went from crap to absurd and is back to "meh". Lategame his 1v1 is still crazy, but his turret/splitpush pressure kinda sucks. So, its basically all on his teamfighting to balance him around, which is going to be hard.

Looks like they want him to be a hypercarry/teamfight mage. They are trying to tone down his lane dominance. Hence why they changed W so theres less incentive to max it first. Maxing Q first instead means you cant W>E or E>W through minions for big damage.
That said I guess you could still max W and see how it goes - ill be giving it a try.
Edit: Actually I just saw how maxing Q increases the duration of the passive effect. Definetly looks like they want you to MAX Q and not be able to bully your lane opponent around with W.
Edit2: Also his waveclear is OK if you get passive up, E > Q > E > Q goodbye wave

I might actually start playing League again, just becaue of Tahm. He looks fun. Also Gentleman Gnar pretty neat skin.
Edit : Also Runeglaive UNIQUE PASSIVESpellblade - After using an ability, the next basic attack is converted into magic damage and deals 75% Base Attack Damage (+0.3 ability power) bonus damage on hit in an Area-of-Effect around the target and restores 8% of your missing Mana
Damn, sounds good on paper.
Edit 2 : Pool party Zac and Master Chef Tahm. I'm totally getting back..

Cost 2800g => 2700g Health 450-650 => 300-500 Mana 450-650 => 400-800 AP 60-80 => 60-100

Is there a particular reason you set the patch-notes link to the items section? It's a minor concern but I did completely miss the champion changes until I googled the patch notes.

I suspect it's still only going to be bought on champs that want RoA in the first place. Swain and Anivia are happy chaps. I don't see it taking the place of Morello/Athene's, given how valuable CDR is, on the vast majority of other mid laners.
That said, given blue buff is almost a guarantee, I could maybe see RoA coming out at pro level at times. Actually, CDR blues, RoA and Ionian Boots could be another route. You have no regen increase outside of Blue Buff or Elixir of Sorcery though.

If you were looking to teamfight you'd prob want Grail on these anyway. See ow Kassadin skips Tear and RoA, building Grail and using the ~20% mana restore to stay at low mana in fights and get another round of spells with each assist.

Anyone here with be PBE access? I saw some Tahm Kench on streams and holy moly he looked broken as ef, insane damage, utility and tankiness all in one package.
Saw him doing some serious work both as a toplaner and support the "get a decent gank=>instantly gank mid too" chain looked hilarious.
