Defensive nerf: trying reacting to a guy dashing in now. Before you could queue headbutt then cancel over and over, and as soon as the guy dashes in you'd cast and interupt the dash/send him away. But with a skillshot you can't anymore, so shit like, since he's mentioned, Zed, or Fizz, can't be reacted to anymore.
They nerf Zed's AS. Yeah sure, that's exactly what's the issue, and the source of the problems he causes dps-wise. It's only making him slightly worse at killing towers, what a joke. Meanwhile whenever the feel like nerfing another champ, AS goes straight to 0.625 (RIP Pantheon). The heck is it with their boner for that number, anyway?
|
Riot likes zed and lee sin because they are popular and flashy, even though they've been large parts of the problem with power and mobility creep.
Alaric they like .625 because it takes 400% attack speed to reach max attack speed.
|
I really don't understand what is so toxic about zed?He is the only assassin that can't just jump and kill you with you being unable to do anything.Even ahri could dfg>w>r>ignite and kill you without landing anything.
I guess his laning is very safe and shit but it isn't THAT hard to deal with now after the nerfs. There was a suggestion on reddit to make his passive not work on minions that would be good to make it easier to punish him early.
|
zed doesn't need to use ignite to do the same thing, and his "skillshot" is guaranteed with the proper casting unless you flash or dash out, same as against ahri and foxfire +ulti. He's also able to fight without spells and has a mini zhonyas built into his ulti.and doesn't need an ultimate to jump over walls. he's exceptional mobility creep. on the level that lee sin had when lee came out.
|
Zed can't do the same thing. If you get zhonya or qss it is imposible for him to do the same unless you are playing a shitty champion or you misplay it.
|
i mean thats literally true for ahri too. but ahri doesn't crowd out champions nearly as much as zed does. QSSing/mikaels on ahri's dfg buff ends her ability to kill you unless she can charm and everything. a zhonyas dodges a huge portion of her damage as well. the difference is that those items aren't viewed as mandatory vs ahri because you can play around her pretty well, vs zed not getting those items means the zed is doing terribly because he's bad at the game or your whole team is coordinated to protecting you.
|
Yeah you just qss the r/w and easy.As an ad main playing vs akali/rengar/talon is soooooo much harder it isn't even close.Zed you can mostly 1v1 him unless he has 2 items on you while the others unless you dedicate multiple people and proper teamplay there is absolutely nothing you can do.Before with dfg fizz/syndra/lb/ahri were so much harder as well.
|
i dont think zed is "toxic", his numbers are just way too high
|
I think CertainlyT is just way too high. Darius thresh zed kalista Yasuo Zyra.
|
- He is manaless and has good reach (compare to Talon's 600 range 10s cd Rake for example), giving him very good and safe waveclear, and easy farming, even at level 1 for a melee champ in mid lane - He's a caster who gets to build BotRK, giving him good damage against everyone. Combine it with his W passive and his innate and he has stupidly strong dps for a non-assassin, one of the highest in the game overall. - He's an energy champ with low cooldowns on multiple ranged damaging spells, meaning his contribution to the fight extends way beyond his ultimate. - Skillshots or not, with all his ways of sticking to targets and the point'n'click ult the only thing you can dodge without Flash is the Q, and even then it's easy to land. - He has the burst of an assassin, he's mobile with a free way out (compare to Akali, Talon, Pantheon, etc. : the "toxic" designs; meanwhile Riot loves Fizz and Ahri), and end game he has the dps to 1v1 about anyone even without his ult.
He's not an assassin, he's much more, and he's also too much in too many domains at once. Riot are satisfied because there is "counterplay" when the mark only explodes 3s later (even though in most cases all is decided in the second he reappears, or the following one if you flashed) or you can "counter" it with QSS or Zhonya (he's still going to truck you, the only real impact is that he needs to stay on you if you have one of these items and in a teamfight he'll usually draw cc if he tries).
For the record I'm fine with Ahri's current design overall, although I'd rather see some damage removed from her Q onto her E or R (to reduce her waveclear), increase her mana costs (because she's manaless and clears for free from level 1 atm, making her hard to punish without playing an assassin or a poker a la Xerath yourself), and maybe increase the cd on her ult. I'm a proponent of longer cooldowns on teamfight ults (like they did with Braum or Thresh) and lower on "catch" spells (unlike what they did to Vi, Nocturne, etc. Rengar is a special case), so lowering Charm cd to make it Ahri's "pick" spell, while increasing her ult's cd to reinforce its all-in nature (and reducing her safety), wouldn't hurt imo.

That's why literally only Zed to properly teamfight in competitive play is dade, amazing.
I better play against 20 Zeds in a row, than Riven, Akali, Fizz, good Rengar or Syndra.

every other zed just realizes they can split push and win without risk.

funny how you just described a bunch of pretty cool champions (except darius) who just so happen to have interesting, flexible kits that grant them a bunch of innate potential for power. now what if every champion was like that???!?!??!??
Basically what I'm saying is that guy is gonna make league an interesting game, whether he has to drag the rest of riot screaming behind him or not.

i guess it depends on whether you care more about competitive play and balance or cool fun stuff.

Darius was fun and not that bad after the launch nerfs, it was when they Unfun'd him that he got bad

I consider Ezreal and Lee the champions that League should have more of. They are extremely flexible and skill rewarding without feeling bullshit or not fun to play against. Almost all of CertainlyT's champs are too much in the realm of "really fun to play as, not fun to play against".

Syndra wouldn't be that bad if she had actual setups or if getting hit by an E'd sphere actually was a stun and not a slight knock-back followed by a stun.
You'd have more time to see the QE come out, it'd be easier to dodge it with a proper hitbox, and it wouldn't stop your moveblocks (unless the E does it obviously). Currently the huge amount of "QoL" she received has a big part in her power, otherwise it's mostly concentrated in her sheer damage output, E being safe against dashes and the range+absolute lack of animation on Q that allows her to be a lane bully. Being able to EQ gives her a ~1k range stun which is faster than something like cocoon. Her ult and Q mechanic is supposed to emphasise setting up a net of spheres to zone people. If Riot remembered that her power was because of that tradeoff and put it back in, she'd feel much more "fair" (although she'd still be a bitch in lane, but that's moslty because you barely feel her Q being maxed by then, and you don't ever feel maxed W at all). I wish they'd tweak it to put more accent on the power spikes when she maxes a spell.

so what you're saying is that because of the existing pool of relatively-homogeneous champs, creating new champions that have an interesting or innately powerful kit is bad design even if it would lead to a more interesting game as a whole if more champions had similar characteristics as the new 'badly designed' ones?
I'm more interested in the long-term health of the game than its balance for a few patches, fwiw

I still wish lee did less. he definitely is a pain with his current numbers and place because of everything he does when it comes to designing new champs that jungle. every new champ has to have a reason to pick them over lee. because he's so dominant. and that leads to some really bad design in the concept stage.

I'm more interested in the long-term health of the game than its balance for a few patches, fwiw you certainly(T) don't get long term health from every new champ removing 4 old ones from play. because you have to keep one up-ing those designs and eventually you'll end up with a mess of 110 unused champs that actually lose the game if you play them, and 20 champs worth playing if you dont want to lose because of the sheer mobility and power creep.
