I'm confused. Did curse voice not get banned because of this? How it removed a skill from the game. Could be just remembering wrong should go check.

who got a 1min error on baron quite recently in a pro game :D ?

Wasn't it SKT? Could have been another Korean team since I'm pretty sure it happened in OGN.

Same goes for drake if nobody's doing the calls in the opponent team while you're doing it you get a good advantage because someone is actually taking 1s to remember a timer which is an integrent part of the game (both for objectives and cds). I doubt its going to show you timers for information you dont have, if it does then ill say it removes skill from the game, but until then its not a huge deal

Why is there even a game-timer? keeping track of time is an integral part of skill! All that free information in regards to initial spawn time for minions/monsters!.
It's just like those SC2 scrubs who fell in love with MBS, and worker automine. Enjoy your casual game scrubs.

Pretty sure it will be same as crs voice in that it auto times it if you see it die.It would be pretty silly otherwise lol.Oh you casuals back in the day we didnt even get nash/dr notifications in chat.Still remember the shitstorm lol.

I don't know about people having a 1 minute error on baron recently in pro games but it has happened in pro games where they mistimed baron by like 20-40 seconds.
Just because it hasn't happened recently to my knowledge doesn't mean it doesn't.

It's just like those SC2 scrubs who fell in love with MBS, and worker automine. Enjoy your casual game scrubs. Every action you perform in a game is somehow tied to "skill". It's not really a matter of how much more or less there is of it--but rather in peoples minds there's a certain subset of skills they want to be tested by a game. Generally these correspond to the skills that they consider themselves to be good at, because, well, people like being good at things.
Ultimately, everyone is biased towards the skills that they've practiced or consider themselves to be good at (or conversely against the ones they struggle with), so it's really hard to look at these in a practical and objective manner.

Exactly, it's arbitrary line for each person. Also, I welcome the fact that I no longer have to type in chat to keep track of that.

They want to leave Soraka as a healer champ, which is fine. What made her see play in other lanes for so long was free Q and a long silence on the E. Sion rework we knew was coming, Sona just needs a range indicator w/ a small circle around her that shows the range on her auras.
Diana is a weird AP assassin champ, and after gutting her AP ratios (some were needed, others were not) she fell off, so Riot turned to the community to get their opinion on her. So she might get reworked to be either a true assassin or more of a tanky bruiser like Riven.
Darius rework seems unnecessary.
And with timers on buffs + dragon + baron being added soon, I feel like it removes an element of gameplay. They even mention in the article that they were iffy on it, but the Curse Voice stuff eventually pushed them to be in favor for purposes of saving time + scrolling back thru chat to find the timer again if you entered it manually. I just hope they have it be that you have to have sight of the camp being cleared to have timer appear than having the game tell you when a buff camp is cleared when you have no vision of it.

What the fuck. I could be fine with a message in the chat (because it can give you the time, and is accessible if you make the effort to think about it), but directly giving you the countdown is just straight-up spoonfeeding. I mean, awareness' important: for example in high Gold atm I very often see people neglect the basic "enemy mid left lane, enemy jungler is near blue buff and our sidelane is pushed, he may try a gank in the next 10 seconds", even when I ping them and say so in chat. In the same way, people can know "hey my buff's soonish", then forget about it before it actually happens or because a gank opportunity distracts them or something. That's a good half of my buff steals (the other is simply me being ahead and forcing a back or straight killing them shortly before the respawn).
If you give them a countdown, that's always there, that they don't need to think about (like you need to look at the chat, in an active manner, currently), then it takes away a lot of this awareness because they don't have to keep their mind on it: it's just there, in plain view, for them to always be reminded. So yeah, I personally dislike, not the fact that they handle timers, but the way it's done.
I dunno, even having the timer be activated if you have vision of the camp as it dies+someone from your team pings it would be fine because you'd have to have vision and think about it. But a fully automated countdown like this makes me heavily disgruntled.

Even the holy grail of teamliquid nerdboners Starcraft: Brood War showed you progress bars on unit production.
Plus, being able to use the information presented to you is much more important than having it -- the minimap tells you when dudes come in to vision yet over half the players (Silver 5 is 50%-tile IIRC?) have exactly 0 map awareness. I doubt those players will start coordinating team invades on buffs because there are timers now.
|
Also giving people cooldowns for things tend to get them to focus on those things. Pub play is pub play and shouldn't be pushed into any specific gameplay.
|
Waiting for supports to demand riot gives them ward timers as well so they don't have to think about that either.

It's less about "I'll get invaded!" and more about "It'll be harder to invade because they won't be as clumsy about it... without actually putting any effort into it."

That would require even less of a change than this because you don't need to design new UI elements.

Something that I have wanted for a long time as a support player is separate chats so I can just have an only timers chat without ignoring my team without having to alt/tab with notepad or some shit.
