[Patch 4.9] RIP Kha'Zix General Discussion - Page 100
Forum Index > LoL General |
Alright, we're going to call it a day with all the Thorin drama, guys. I figured if it was about SI, onGamers, TSM, etc, it had some relevance to League but somehow you guys managed to devolve the discussion into an issue about race of all things. Enough is enough. Let's move along now. -NeoIllusions

Also is anyone else afraid that if they give Baron/Dragon too many special 'skillshot' attacks, that it will result in that either fighting them correctly (i.e. dodging skillshots) will be too easy or fighting them incorrectly will be too hard? I like to think of the neutral objectives as having a fairly a set amount of risk, not a variable risk based on how well you fight it.. but maybe thats just me resisting change.

It may make contested Baron/Dragon even riskier though. I'm a big fan of it being rather simple to actually take the objective with all the difficulty in what the enemy can do instead of what the objective can do.

Baron does though, it seemed like it was doing a lot more AOE damage.

Meh. If you look at the feedback thread they have somewhere (I looked at it through RoG), they expressed that they didn't want a "blue side vs purple side" dynamic in the maps the way it is in DotA. People were suggesting it in a "bright Demacia-like blue side of justice vs rotten Zaun purple testing ground side" and because of the way League works I guess they didn't want to emphasise this with a "good side/bad side", hence the orthogonal approach centered on "side with nashor/side without nashor".

Even if this was the case, I don't think Riot would want that. As a player, it wouldn't feel satisfying for an AI-selected ability to have a meaningful impact on the outcome of a Baron fight. Skillshots used by players are one thing, but skillshots used by the neutral AI interfering in a fight between players feels unsatisfying if it has a real impact on the outcome. It doesn't have to be good/bad themed (I actually thought the color schemes they chose of brown/green and grey/blue were very alignment-neutral, which made them good choices for this). The main advantage of this is that differing color schemes offer immediate visual cues for where you're looking on the map, which has particular advantage for a newer spectator who doesn't know the terrain layout that well yet. And in that regard, a blue side/purple side division for the color scheme has a more useful distinction where the positional information that color cue gives you is somewhat more meaningful.

They also said the thickness of walls is both more consistent and more readable. The example they used is on the current map the red buff wall is thicker purple side than it is blue side, so some champs can't jump over it purple side but can blue side. I know Quinn can leash by vaulting the red buff and landing back where she started blue side, but can't do that purple side, for example.

They have said it has been fixed like 5 times since season started and it kinda isn't.

Looks good, just a couple of complaints. The map feels way smaller because the terrain chunks of rock looks bigger, gives the map a smaller feel. The Tower Icons on the minimap look too big. But, everything else looks great.

I'll play an occasional ARAM or normal with friends, but since I'm mostly interested in ranked and nobody I know is higher than gold 5, I play like 95% of my games solo. I solo queue mostly because most of my real life friends are Plat or Diamond at this point, and rarely wanna duo with me. I need to catch up now. The 8 month break struggle is real. On the other hand, I'm having more fun than ever before after taking that break. I do a lot of inhouses and ranked 5s with them. Not really normals or ARAMs though.
