Actually I think the new Yi retains the AD even prior to getting a reset (at least according to the wiki.). Old Yi had to get a reset to keep the passive and do the double damage with it.

if anything, the best buff for master yi is the rework. The new alpha strike animation is awesome, much more pleasant to play against a Yi now. Still hates the damn sound effect though, what's that suppose to be. YIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEE

The passive bonus from E is there while E is active. It is lost after the active runs out.
Basic attacks deal bonus true damage for 5 seconds. Afterwards the passive bonus is lost while Wuju Style is on cooldown.

I don't know about Yi's nerfs/buffs, but yeah he's a pleasure to play, even his auto-attack animation is better. But I loved him as an AP.

I'm liking the fact that more people in here are coming to the conclusion that unlimited wards needs to change. I'm starting to actually hope that riot may do something about it. Even if its going to take at least 6 months.

Don't think they will or if they do it might be pretty convoluted. The tower change really made me sad. Such an arbitrary and seemingly confusing way to try fix a problem. Riot talks a lot about simplicity and ease of knowledge yet seems to try solve issues in such roundabout ways.

I vaguely recall tryndameres building shiv and botrk, so maybe that's the way to go.
LW shouldn't be necessary, unless one of your final items, since you're not really focusing tanks most of the time and on top of that you have true damage anyway. Other than that no clue.

It's a way off yet, but don't forget how radically riot changes the game every season. You can expect mastery changes at the very least, yet another jungle rework(?), and some big itemization changes would not surprise me. I wouldn't think anything that big would happen until after worlds, once riot decides finally on what rendition of the jungle to run that tournament on.

The AD scaling on E and Q makes me want for a higher AD item. Getting the double proc on your passive is nice, but I would value his crazy scaling as nicer. I will likely go for something like BT or even Hydra over BotRK, LW if the armor is fairly high. After one or two of those, AS item like Zephyr/PD/Shiv.
I think my core for the first few games is going to be BT/Zephyr/Zerker's -> situational. GA as the defensive item unless Scimitar for CC makes more sense.

trynd builds shiv because a single spinning slash (or however that move is called) almost charges it to full. If alpha strike gives/adds 40 charges, it might be worth it on Yi as well. Personally I was thinking of going Botrk / Randuins / Last whisper / Spirit visage (switching the defensive items according to enemy teamcomp) but with the botrk changes i'm unsure if that will be worth it.
Testing to commence as soon as I have fixed my stupid launcher (currently reinstalling the air client)

I think he should be built like an ADC.
So BotRK, IE, PD, LW, <defensive item> and boots. You could also get rid of LW and use Youmuu's instead.
